@geekykant you need to regenerate the thumbnails, i see the images are not cropped at the right size. Also you can compress them a little to pass the speed test.

You have tons of things you need to deal with since you’re loading everything and the kitchen sink … e.g.,
Regen thumbs to load correct image sizes

Are you using Revolution Slider ? If not, disable the plugin – do so for ALL plugins you don’t actually use.
You’re loading a HUGE amount of stuff from Google, Doubleclick, Facebook, Twitter, wp.com tracking pixel, etc.
For faster speed, you need to load less stuff and optimize what you do load!

Ok, I found solution.
There is a plugin called “Force Regenerate Thumbnails”.
It does exactly the same job as “Regenerate Thumbnails”, but it also removes those thumbs not used by the current version of the theme, thus saving “junk” file space on thubs that would never be shown anyway.

As I was running the regenerate thumbnails tool, it creates the new thumbnails on top of the existing ones. Is there a way to make the tool to completely remove the various thumbs and generate only the ones needed?
I have 98.000 images, and this would significantly increase the filespace for my site.

There’s no ideal image size, the modules have thumbs with different aspect ratios and a part of the image may get lost on the cropping process. The “large in post size” it’s not a default size, please provide more details on it (plugin used, settings).
From your first image i see that the cropping option is disabled, enable it and check if the issue is still there (you may have to regenerate the thumbs).

Hi,
The theme uses featured images to display posts on pages, it generates thumbs from those images to keep the page size as low as possible.

4. Check the error.log to see if there are any strange errors which may cause high cpu usage.

Before update please backup the site (database and files) – https://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_Backups
There is a guide how to update the theme – https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/ I suggest to delete the old theme, then upload version 6 so you will make sure that no old files will remain. After update the theme you can update also the theme’s plugins, you can find them in the /plugins folder. After the update run the script, it will import old settings from database and it will change the shortcodes (like you can see in the documentation), the script is included in the Welcome panel – http://screencast.com/t/eZxxuqvsTir. Also you have to regenerate the thumbs – https://forum.tagdiv.com/using-the-theme-with-existing-content/ You may have to re-add widgets on the sidebars, some of them may not be imported or don’t exist anymore.

To get pictures to fit modules
a) try ‘regenerate thumbnails’ plugin
b) if featured block images size larger than what you’re uploading, try ‘thumbnail upscale’ plugin.
Both super lightweight. And you can disable the regen plugin when you don’t need it. If you need to make stuff bigger; be sure to install b) before doing a) 🙂
Looks like you need to regenerate your images which are not “filling” the spot for the photos, hence why you have white space at bottom of the photo area.
Your need to use the “regenerate thumbnails” plugin to reset your images to fit the theme layout and “crop to fit.”
If an image spot is larger than your original photo, you will need to also use the “thumbnail upscale” plugin.
SO, likely not a “bug” — but merely you need to update your photos for the theme you’re now using, which is common practice.
I’m not having this issue, so it’s possible this doesn’t apply to you — but it is the most common reason for this particular issue based on the above photos you posted.

Newspaper 6 uses different thumb sizes and for best results you have to regenerate all thumbs. The best approach would be to find out which one are used on your site, check the modules used on your pages and turn off the thumbs for ones you don’t use – http://screencast.com/t/GHdvy9rXcF1D – then use the plugin to regenerate them.
Try to do this at a time when the traffic is low on your server, or the alternative would be to place an “under maintenance” screen until you’re done.

Yes after defining it, it fame automatically in the settings. Afterwards I had to regenerate the thumbs again. And I had to clear the cache folder (because it kept my old dimensions)

I just installed Newspaper theme (Default). Have few questions.
1. I already have 300+ articles with images. Do I need to run any plugin to regenerate thumbnails that suits the theme?
2. I have to switch off the featured thumbnail option from the theme panel as the article image was appearing twice at top. How to sort this issue?
3. I just installed setting of default theme and not the data. The home page is based on latest posts. Is there a way to get the home page template for default theme? I can probably customize it based on my data and then use it as a home page. This will save the time as compared to the creating a new page.

Yes there are different templates to choose from. But I choose the same template (style 3) like in de demo:

my image is much higher then in the demo. I have tried to regenerate the images, start all over with new images. But still all the images are higher then in the demo. So something goes wrong, or I am doing something wrong

1. Your image width must be at least 745x483 to fill the whole container. If your featured image is smaller, please note that WordPress doesn’t enlarge images and you will need to use plugin like Thumbnail Upscale to enlarge thumbnails: https://wordpress.org/plugins/thumbnail-upscale/ For upscale use a combination of plugins Thumbnail Upscale + Force Regenerate.

@szysz If you are in shared hosting maybe you cant regenerate more than 10K images because it takes a hugh load of CPU. But you can download and install your site on your PC, install regenerate thumbnails, regenerate all thumbs and then upload all the content and Base data to your website.
