Hi. I have been trying to integrate sexy bookmarks and/or jetpack sharing functionality on the front page. What I need is to have a FB and Twitter sharing buttons, with share count, on the front page, below each “article preview” on the article list (e.g. next to the “read more” button but aligned to the right). I would like these buttons to link to each article separately. The problem is that all I can do, is insert these two share buttons above the article list, but they link to the whole index page (home page).
Do you have any tips on how to integrate these social sharing buttons without modifying the code in individual php files? I have seen tutorials on how to add these buttons manually, but I want to leave the core files intact. Are you planning an update of newspaper with such functionality?

the social buttons aren’t working… i want to install a plugin for the social sharing buttons but before i do, i wanted you to see what i mean. when i share on fb from mobile, it tells me “the post could not be found”, when i share from pc to fb, its working but when i used debugger tool to see what info im gettin i get this error message: Object at URL ‘http://infossip.com/video-article-test/’ of type ‘website’ is invalid because the given value ‘/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/video-article-test.png’ for property ‘og:image:url’ could not be parsed as type ‘url’.
when i share via twitter, it doesn’t even give me the link of the post, it displays title and @infossip (i dont want no @username, just the title and link to post…
when i share via pinterest and google+ , its jut not working please help

If you decide to switch the theme or something the gallery/gallery images will remain and use the WordPress default gallery, you could check this by switching to a WordPress theme. As for the deprecated part note that this will not happen.

I have a blog and each blogpost has social sharing buttons.The last blog I wrote had around 20 Facebook-likes a few weeks ago. But now the 20 Facebook-likes are gone. Nothing there. Do you have any idea what went wrong?

i almost feel insulted from that answer. its my fault for saying i have no coding skills. u think i havent tried that, click on the link where it says to create a menu, come on… how stupid do u think i am? everything is almost done, my categories, permalinks, theme colors, fonts, social sharing added to the site… i see my menus like stated in earlier, it wont save my settings. the minute i click on another tab or come to delete my cache, it doesnt save the settings
Note to above: preview links won’t work for public sharing; use a published link if you want others to access it. 🙂
Nothing to do with theme. It’s an issue with Facebook. You can use the FB debug tool to check your META data. The OG tags are there expressly for Facebook.
FB had an outage just a little while ago, btw.
Facebook has intermittent issues where some days they won’t grab image; some days they grab image, and an hour later you have an empty box, some days they don’t grab image right away, and then it pops in 10 minutes later. Nature of the beast. I deal with this on a dozen of our sites every day, and a royal pain.
Upshot – learn to work around it, or try again later when sharing. Post direct link vs using share button, or paste in the headline and URL, the nit might grab stuff. It’s really inconsistent long term.
But, check your meta data in your page source to make sure you have all the correct OG tags in place; then run the Facebook debug tool on your post page to see if anything major. If not, then it’s just their twisted universe spinning out of control.

I’m having issues with the featured images. It’s a recent problem I’m experiencing when I’m sharing an article on Facebook or when I send Newsletters. It won’t find my featured image, even though it displays it on my website.

for example : if you try sharing this article http://www.riders.nc/surf-en-nouvelle-caledonie-2/ on Facebook it won’t show any photo. If I want to get a thumbnail I have to change the featured image title, then fetch new scrape infos in Facebook debugger 4-5 times. This is very weird and annoying. I won’t even get the featured image sometimes and it will just give me 3 photos to choose from.
Is there a fix? I’m losing credibility when I’m trying to share an article and I don’t have a photo to advertise it…

1. How do I make it so that the social sharing buttons in the author box are in a different style (kind of like how you can choose the different style sharing tools for the footer – these ones seem to be in style 1…I would instead like it in style 3 or 4!)
2. How do I move my content.ad widget and my google adsense ad under the author box?
Content.ad allows me to post this: <?php do_action(‘contentad’); ?> in a template wherever I want, so that it will post where I want it to post, but I can’t find the proper area to post this in the CSS editor to make it go under the author box.
How would I make the google adsense ad display under the author box?
3. How do I make a separate title for the Author? For example:
Name: Carly Fraser
Title: CEO & Founder at Live Love Fruit
Biography: Carly Fraser has her BSc (Hons.) Degree in Neuroscience, and is the owner and founder at Live Love Fruit…
