Hello Caesar,

Unfortunately, please keep in mind that the Newsmag 2.3.6 is too deprecated theme’s version, sorry! First of all, you should make a full backup to your database to avoid losing all the data and then, update the theme to the latest version of the theme to another subdomain for testing and check the theme functionality. Should work as expected. If you want to achieve best theme result you should keep up the steps with the latest version of the theme because the theme is a continuous development and we release more features and updates to our product.

Thanks for your understanding!

I see now what you are referring to, I will add this as well on our list. The developers will consider it, it may be available in the theme in future updates. Thank you for all your suggestions.

Please answer the two questions below as well.

Also, do I have the option to change the date from of my posts to update date as stated below?

“I regularly change the date of posts when updating a post so the date is current, though the theme I use has an option to change the text associated with the date, so rather than it saying something like “Posted On Date” I use “Updated Date”: basically not suggesting the post is new, indicating the post was updated.”

what is the proper image size ratio for the Tagdiv composer single image element so that whether it be on mobile, tablets, or PC the image will fit and not be cut off? I have to give an image wired sizing just so that they can fit, therefore some look strange and disproportionate on the different platforms.

Thanks

Hello Prajwal Desai,

2)Please notice that if you want to make some additional customizations to your theme style, all of these should have to be made in Child Theme, style.css to avoid losing all of your customizations to the next theme’s update. For each update, the theme code will be overwritten and that’s why you will lose all of your additional customizations.
3,4)You should try the code below and place it in Theme panel -> Custom CSS area.

The code is ->

.wpb_text_column .td_quote_box{
background-color: red;
}

The result is here -> https://www.screencast.com/t/EVB6HnlPff

5)Sorry but please notice that we do not have any plan for this feature, sorry!

6)Sorry, but please notice that the theme does not have any such an option that allows you to do this, sorry! The theme does not have any control to this section…you should use such a plugin with this functionality that allows you to manage this section, like Seo Yoast.

Thanks for your understanding!

Hi,

Regarding your first reply, implementation needs time to be done properly. You cannot do it overnight otherwise we will face the consequences. The AMP implementation should be ready for the next update but I cannot promise as any step along the way, there could be a ‘wall’ that will need extra work to overcome. Unfortunately we have no ETA to provide. Patience is a virtue 🙂

Thank you for understanding.

Same problem here.

I found that it’s another piece of Newspapers’ CSS that’s breaking alignleft and aligntight:

.wp-caption {
text-align: center;
max-width: 100% !important;
}

“max-width: 100% !important” is breaking the inline max-width set according to the image size. I removed that line, and everything works fine again.

If that max-width is needed by Newspaper elsewhere, it should have a more specific declaration that excludes captions inside post content.

From where I see it, it seems too simple to be fixed. It’s sad that an actual fix haven’t been shipped yet several updates after the bug was reported.

Hello,

You can change the image used on modules by using this guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/td_api_thumbupdate/
However you will have to find a thumb that is close in size and aspect ratio otherwise it will not display properly.

Thanks

Hi,

Yes that is the case, enter the CSS code in the theme panel and it will be saved in the database.
I don’t exactly now how you implemented that ad above the article title. If you made modifications to the post templates directly or any main them files, and inserted the ad code there, then the modifications will be lost after a theme update.
In this case you can create a child theme, and modify the post templates or supported theme files through it

Hi,

@AcarelTV
The issue in this case was with the save inner row option, in the tagDiv composer
https://www.screencast.com/t/SrmHc7pr
Seems that this option can cause problems, we will fix it as soon as possible. In the next theme update most likely. If you have used that option please send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide admin login information. Or even if you did not use the option and the composer is not working for you, contact us by email for investigation.

Thanks

Hello,

The Revolution slider plugin as well as the Visual composer editor plugin are provided pre-activated in the theme package, and you do not have to activate either of these. You already have full access to the plugin features and you can use it without activation. Updates for the plugins bundled within the theme package will be included in the theme updates.
Please ignore any at all activation messages from Revolution slider and Visual composer.It’s just a missing condition from the plugin authors for these versions and we cannot make any changes to the plugins as it will break the license agreement we have with the plugin authors.

Thanks

Hi,

Indeed the modifications can be made through a child theme, this is a guide
https://forum.tagdiv.com/the-child-theme-support-tutorial/
These will not be lost when the theme is updated.

Thanks

Hi,
I received latest update for the newspaper theme and i dont know how to update it, when i saw in youtube it says i have to delete the existing theme and re-install again, but i am afraid i may loose all my posts, pages and comments. Is thier n easy way for me to update themes

Well, the official AMP plugin from Automattic (the people who make WordPress) works very well, and there is a ‘glue’ plugin for use to connect that to Yoast SEO. I’ve been using the AMP plugin since it launched couple of years back, with zero hassles. Latest update supports pages, if needed; and has separate page or post templates which can easily be edited.

Note AMP only works if you have enough traffic to warrant it and if the pages all validate in Chrome with the AMP plugin activated. It’s NOT a full-on replacement for a responsive or mobile framework — it’s an “additional” element which only works on supported devices and if Google “blesses” the posts to add to CDN, and then will be shown in SERPS with AMP icon – and also in your Google Site Manager account (or whatever they are calling it this year).

So, worth doing – but it’s not a be-all, end-all solution for mobile at this time — simply an additional option. Frankly a normal responsive site with fast mobile speed, https, and http/2 is also as important.

( I don’t work here; just long time TagDiv user, webdev dinosaur, and WP user sicne v1)

Nice thread Prajwal. The questions asked are legit and lovely. Yeah you can’t simply ask developers to style everything (in case of quotes and ad on/off).
Post update date is something i would definitely love to see, but it seems more of theoretical, since we know google doesn’t work that way or everyone here will be just pressing “update post” every next day.

HI

I would like to build the TagDiv Composer startpage on my test blog before doing it on doing it on the actual blog. My test blog is versions behind and needs to be updated. I have not updated it beacause I am not sure if I can use the same activation code on the test blog, which is located on a sub-domain within the domain the activation code is used on. Can the activation code be used on several blogs within the same domain? If not; how do I manage a secure and updated test blog?

Hey Simion,

I think it works fine now, indeed. Thank you.

So i can just paste the @media code i posted above in the custom code section and then after an update i dont need to paste it in manually again?

I also have a custom designed Adsense ad above the article title on mobile. See here: https://www.dagonline.nl/antillen/toekomst-insel-air-onzeker-na-uitvallen-toestellen/ Can i paste that code also in the custom code section to show up again after an update

Thanks!

I have a fatal [Sat Jan 27 15:19:39.279740 2018] [:error] [pid 25500] [client 104.196.118.37:57392] PHP Fatal error: Cannot redeclare _check_isactive_widgets() (previously declared in /nas/content/live/feline13/wp-content/themes/Newspaper-child/functions.php:30) in /nas/content/live/feline13/wp-content/themes/Newspaper/functions.php on line 208, referer: http://purrview.com/wp-cron.php?doing_wp_cron=1517066378.8447420597076416015625

I asked WpEngine to try and resolve but they said it was in the child theme folder. I also tried uploading child theme via ftp and via theme upload.

It basically makes my site disappear and gives me a 500 error, Any advice I would really like to use your theme and I need a child theme so I don’t lose all my customizations when you update the core theme.
.
ps one thread said to update the main theme and then use the child theme, isn’t that backwards? don’t you mean update and customize the child theme so we don’t loose our customizations when you update the core theme?

Thanks, Tonia

Hi,

Indeed it seems the layout is broken at the moment, the page structure does not look right visually and code wise. There are also errors on the homepage only. First, if you are using Visual composer as the main page builder, please deactivate the tagDiv composer. When both editors are active there could be issues.
Also try a theme reinstall, maybe the update was not done properly. Try the FTP method
https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/
Let us know the results.

Thanks
