Nevermind, I figured it out. Apparently something changed with this in version 7.8 causing the excerpt to show back up where we had it turned off before the update. For others trying to fix this, it’s Module MX7 under Excerpts in the theme settings.
To turn it off, just put a 0 (zero) in where it says Excerpt Length.
Is work in full row, but only in full row after this update, why? bug? fix?
Site takes forever to load after update. How do I fix.
Hi, periodically themeforest advises me there is an update available. However, I have not been able to track down a change log for an update. Is there an official location for this?
Thanks.
You don’t really need child theme unless you are making changes to core code.
Best way to update theme and plugins is via FTP, as you download the files from Envato/Themeforest to your PC/Mac, then upload to server.
Allows you to make backup before update, in case you need to roll back, and you HAVE all the files to do the updates as both the theme folder, and the various plugins that you happen to be using with theme.
Anyway, that’s how I do it to avoid issues.
Hello. I have newspaper theme and I’m using child theme too (apparently it helps preserve the settings?). Typically when I use child theme to update the main theme i have to switch to the main theme and then try to update, right? So I did all those things that are listed in tutorial for automatic updating (installed envato plugin, created API token…). After doinhg that it showed that the theme version was newest, but it did not install updated plugins. In tutorial it says that I can find them in some directory somewhere.. Where?
What is the best and easiest way to update this theme when using child theme? Do I need to switch from child to main for that? DO i need child theme at all?
Thank You.
I have the same problem in my website. Im running php 5.6 and all the plugins are update.
“Big grid 4 Please move this shortcode on a full row in order for it to work.”
Is same report,
Hi Cris,
I update all, inclue Visual Composer plugin, the problem continue…
Thanks,
What does the error message say?
Are you running old version of PHP (5.2 ?) – you should have 5.6 or later.
Are you running WP 4.7.3 — older version should *not* be used.
What version of Visual Composer? Did you update that with the theme?
After the update big grids only work on full width rows. Now appears the error message.
This theme is not hosted on WordPress.org — like most themes on ThemeForest you need to install via FTP to have it done properly. Good to learn, as it allows you to make proper backups, make sure you install plugins properly, and KNOW it has been updated correctly.
See the theme docs on how to update the theme. 🙂
I did an FTP update using the patch files and now I am receiving this error on the website:
wp booster error:
td_api_base::mark_used_on_page : a component with the ID: td_block_pinterest is not set.
/home/../public_html/../wp-content/themes/Newspaper/includes/wp_booster/td_api.php
Make sure you update Visual Composer plugin when updating theme.
Note that things *do* change in new versions of Visual Composer, so always wise to check “changelogs” for ANYTHING you install to know how you might need to “adjust” content for those changes!
Don’t use the Envato updater as it never works right on many server setups due to permission/ownership problems.
FTP is best way, and only way if you keep having problems.
Same problem after update! Please help!
today was theme update after update i cant see any pictures on my web page .. do u know what can be problem? i use enavto market automatic plugin
Before upgrading I exported my site settings as I have some customizations you guys have done for me in the past. I upgraded the site and then imported the settings. The settings reverted the site to default and I lost all of my customizations. So I rolled back to my backup but the settings were still all messed up. After importing the settings again the site went down and I am getting a “too many redirects”.
Hi,
I’ve just updated and downgraded in a second. The Big Grids doesn’t work anymore. Please fix it asap.
Tks
I got an email from Envato Market telling me that Newspaper has an update and can be found in the downloads.
Once it downloads, it is requesting I download the whole thing again. Can’t we update from within WordPress without a reinstall?
I see in your update you have
new: the main menu of the theme was redesigned from scratch
finally … but need to make sure
was this to address the slow loading menu?
Hi, I’ve just updated and downgraded in a second. I have in home page a Big Grid 12 in the same row with another element and now it doesn’t work anymore! Bad thing! 🙁 Please fix it..

@saggel Hi,
The v7.6 fix: facebook videos that are in the content of the post now work and resize as expected approaches and fixes content facebook videos iframes which when includes the full post, like this: https://www.screencast.com/t/WSXbE6cdzg the text content of the video was hidden by theme’s fb video resize.
Theme version v7.7, currently available, treats facebook videos like a default wp theme does and the previous implementation concerning fb videos which resizes in content fb videos was removed because of the problems it causes.
In our latest update on this we have decided not to alter the post content facebook embedded iframes so we have updated the fb in content resize script and adopted the native behaviour concerning it.
If you need to revert to the previous behaviour you can simply replace this code: https://www.screencast.com/t/58LZEkPuI with this one: http://pastebin.com/EzRJ6Rx2 like this: https://www.screencast.com/t/pvuv20vaBrvm > this will bring the old behaviour back.
Thank you for your understanding!
