Thanks Andrei,
I have updated the theme through the Envato Market plugin (just uploaded to WP – great product) and afterwards checed VC and the same issue was still happening.

I then updated the Visual Composer plugin separately with the latest Newspaper theme download, however the problem with VC not saving any changes is still happening.

What should be the next step in trying to fix the issue?

This is not to modify the CSS, just to add some codes to fuction.php, so when you update the theme, they don’t go away.

The big grid slide element is not in my visual composer. could it be that i need to update my visual composer?

That is strange because I did not manually change the fonts in the theme panel. It changed when the theme was updated.

Any ideas why the top sidebar ad is not visible after the update?

I have updated the theme to the latest version, also the plugins. But my visual composer plugin does not save.

I cant create a new page, i cant edit the existing ones. when ever i click on the save button, it does not respond, i have checked my profile and editor privilege is enabled.

Please help look into this ASAP.

So glad to finally have found a possible solution to this annoying problem.
Suddenly all my rich pins got that infamous ‘name’ instead of a ‘title’ that they used to have.

One thing I want to ask is:
Do I have to update these php files again after every update version of Newspaper?

Any update on this? Is there a temporary fix? Still having issues with version 3.2. Cannot include or exclude certain authors.

Well, two things
a) you could buy plugin and use with theme, if not using a feature conflicting with latest version of theme

b) just because a new plugin version is “available” does not mean it’s for security purposes, or that it will even work right

You need to learn to
1) view ‘changelog’ for new plugin to see WHAT actually changed; and if it’s even relevant to your use case
2) check plugin support forum to see if known issue or security flaw actually introduced with new version that was not there before (this HAS happened!)

Don’t presume that a “new version” must be installed “right now” — as it may not be necessary or even safe to do so. Similarly automatic updates are generally not good for WP as things break and best to keep track of what changes actually get made and how they interact with other things (e.g., full dot versions of YOAST SEO traditionally have bugs and best to wait for second dot revision, as one example).

Just food for thought.

Did you update Visual Composer also ? You do need the NEW version included with the current theme and not the old one you were using. See the plugin in the ‘all files download’ in /plugins/ folder.

No you don’t have to re-build the site again as the update won’t affect its content. During the update old files of the theme are deleted and the new ones are uploaded instead.
However as a security measure we recommend to make a full backup to your current wp-install before making any changes: https://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_Backups

I upgraded theme via ftp but now it says when you open the page: Fatal error: Call to undefined function vc_map_get_attributes() in /home/urbanista.com.tr/httpdocs/wp-content/themes/Newsmag/vc_templates/vc_row.php on line 30

and also it says on admin panel wp booster error: Please update your [tagDiv social counter] Plugin!
but i can’t update it?

@Msegura909 and @Colourofsunshine the issues are not caused because of Visual Composer license. The plugin comes bundled with the theme and there is no need a license key for it. We always include in theme’s patch the latest version of Visual Composer which currently is V 4.11.2.

Note that older version of Visual Composer are not compatible with latest version of WordPress, that’s why the issue occurs. To make sure that the theme and plugin works fine we recommend to use the latest versions available, for the theme is V 7.4 and for plugin is 4.11.2. re using then test the site again.

@Msegura909 we didn’t tested V 4.11.2 of VC with V 6.5 of Newspaper and we can’t guarantee that it will work fine with it. However you can try to update only the plugin and check how it goes.
