I was looking for automatic update method for the Newspaper theme and I came across the Envato WordPress toolkit. I’m done with the settings and now I can find update automatically option within the toolkit plugin. But, my concern is that will it reset my theme settings? or the theme settings will be as it is, but the core features will be updated?

I suspect that the theme’s files were not copied properly so please make sure that you do a clean install of the theme as it’s suggested in our documentation: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-theme/ clear all caches, deactivate the plugins and test again.

Please make sure you update the theme properly using this guide(all the steps how to update from version 4) – https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/ and also update the plugins that come with the theme files from the /plugins folder. Also if you use the child theme, you have to update it as the old files modifications or custom css will not work in the version 6.
Also please provide your site url so we can take a look.

Please make sure you updated the theme according to our guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-theme/ Also you can try to clear all caches, browser cache too, purge cdn files if you’re using, deactivate all plugins except Visual Composer and test again.

Please use the instructions from the guide below to update the theme and the FTP method to do it and also make sure that you make a backup of your current theme installation so you can revert back to it in case something goes wrong.

Clear cache. Turn off all plugins except visual composer. Make sure you updated plugins in addition to theme.

Little update: after I restarted my desktop computer, most images became visible, but not the main image on front page. Does anybody knows what could be the problem?
Yesterday I updated our site http://www.stratego.hr to v2.2, and after that I can’t see images on homepage. I tried it on various browsers, but the problem still occurs. I did all the things I could remember: delete cache, disabled lazy load,… Funny thing, there is no problem when approaching site on mobile phones.
Any ideas what to do?

We opted to make “https everywhere” since Google prefers that for mobile — meaning ALL pages, not just ecom/store — even the privacy policy. This ensures you have ONE canonical version with https always and don’t have to juggle that (nightmare I say!) in WP and Yoast.
There are some cheaper SSL certs out there if you shop around.
We use Godaddy for our main business site SSL cert since our DNS is there (or rather domain > nameservers > our local DNS.
For main server SSL, we’re using our long time pals (they do NOT host our server which is at SoftLayer in Dallas, an IBM company) — TSS – https://my-tss.com/ssl-certificates.php
A RapidSSL cert is $20/year and suitable for most sites not doing enterprise level stuff. Wildcard cert is $129/year. Which is typical.
I think we pay $135 for the wildcard cert via Godaddy, but again that’s for our main business portal and NOT for our news sites. We’ll be securing CaliforniaNewswire.com likely early in 2016, and using the $20 option.

Something weird started happening today with the raw js blocks. I am adding adsense ad code and it has been fine. Then today I added another one, looks fine, save the block but when I hit update on the page, the code changes to all these Chinese characters.
Anyone have an idea of what’s going on?

The theme does’t have a scroll down bar for widgets, you will need custom modification to achieve that. Unfortunately we cannot offer custom work as we work hard on the development, updates, fixes and support, but you can look for a freelancer from sites like: http://studio.envato.com/ to do it for you.

The theme have one main css file: style.css which it’s included in Newsmag-tf > Newsmag.zip > Newsmag package that you downloaded from themeforest. Please make sure you updated the theme according with our guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-theme/ or redo the update and test again.
