I installed wordpress into another directory doing a clean install and uploaded 6.4 template, then installed the travel demo settings and voila it worked perfectly. No issues with wp-config, htaccess etc etc.. No server issues whatsoever..

Turns out the problem is with the script to update template from 4.3 to 6.4. Old settings in the DB?

wp options ID 41,42 (template, stylesheet) shows value of Newspaper, yet in the new DB with clean install it shows Newspaper 6.4, if I edit the old name to Newspaper 6.4 the theme breaks.

So how do we fix this? I am not skilled enough to prune out old template code…. What table, field in the DB could use a clean up?

Also..With the clean install, the WP Site URL and Home URL are a match. Currently it is not a match in the site that I’m trying to fix. https, and http are the values… although in the DB the values are both http, so where is that bogus code hiding?

Same thing is happening to me. I don’t understand Alin’s response. He is just showing us where the code is. I would like to know what is triggering the mismatch. I too have spent lots of time trouble shooting the DB. My values are the same, yet the template status is telling me they are different.

I am concerned, becuase my font is not loading newspaper.woff, which is causing missing social icons.

I’ve spent three hours with my hosting company considering updates to php etc.

Could we please have some concrete answers Alin? Why is it showing as a mismatch when the values are correct in the DB, where is the mismatch hiding?

I have a problem with updating sites, who are created with Visual Composer. I’m still on the old newspaper version 4.6.3. I can’t update to 6. as this would cost my programmer a lot of time and me a lot of money.

So the problem is, that there is no text field anymore, when I want to change texts in Visual Composer. In the old version of newspaper, I only have Visual Composer 4.4.4. So this might not be working with WordPress 4.3 properly anymore.
What can I do?

Hi

There is no ideal size for the feature images but in order to fit the thumb container it should have at least the sizes of thumb’s container, because WordPress doesn’t enlarges images. If you already use bigger images and still have issues with them, try to clear all caches purge cdn files also deactivate the plugins, leave just Visual Composer active, and make sure you regenerated the thumbs after theme’s update, then test again.

There’s a lot of custom CSS in our child theme; are you saying we’ll have to basically rebuild the website to migrate to Version 6?

Will version 4 continue to receive security and plugin updates?

It’s probably going to make it harder doing that, as long as you find the custom code you added using WinMerge tool, then add those customizations into the 6.4 files.. then upload and override everything over http://FTP.. then finally update VC plugin…

*Note: I have now created a folder on my computer called “My Theme Changes” inside i just add all files i have modified so next time it will be even quicker

Can you share with me Zip file of the theme v6.3 so that first i will maually update the files for v6.2 to v6.3 (files which were modified) and then i can modify the v6.3 to v6.4 using the same process.

v6.3 of the theme is not available on my Envanto account.

I’m currently updating my theme from 6.3.0 to 6.4 (also missed had not updated).. easiest way is to use the program WinMerge (search for it in google).. then just locate all the customizations you made.. it even allows you to directly add it to the new theme.

Hi I have managed to download the tool box and it has allowed me to upgrade to version 6.4.

But it has not installed the update for the Revolution slider as it suggests should happen in the documentation.

So how do I do it?

But there is nothing there Punchtheme say to contact your support for a updated zip file.
So where can I get that please.
