Hi,

this might not be the best way to do it but it’s how I have it working in my website:
file /wp-content/themes/Newspaper/includes/wp_booster/td_category_template.php

replace this:
protected function get_description() {
if (!empty($this->current_category_obj->description)) { // is needed?
return '<div class="td-category-description"><p>' . $this->current_category_obj->description . '</p></div>';
}
}

with this:
protected function get_description() {
if (!empty($this->current_category_obj->description)) { // is needed?
if (function_exists( 'qtranxf_useCurrentLanguageIfNotFoundUseDefaultLanguage' )){
return '<div class="td-category-description"><p>' . qtranxf_useCurrentLanguageIfNotFoundUseDefaultLanguage($this->current_category_obj->description) . '</p></div>';
} else {
return '<div class="td-category-description"><p>' . $this->current_category_obj->description . '</p></div>';
}
}
}

Remember this will disappear after a theme update, but tagDiv people will likely add compatibility for this in the mean time.

My bad. It seems that 4.6.3 wasn’t the latest version, far from it. Too bad for automatic update.
I guess that this was the reason why I had different screens and results.

Unfortunately, the manual update to version 6 went bad. Hopefully, I was still testing, since I’ll have to reinstall WP from scratch. We’ll see. But I hope Newspaper 6 will be the only update of its kind.

A bit new to this but I moved this code into my functions.php in my child theme, changed the number and it didnt work.

My question is, how do i change this without it not changing in a future update. Do I have to move the whole of the functions.php into the childtheme folder? If I did would your future updates still work?

The Visual Composer plugin it’s tested with the theme and should work fine, so you can try to deactivate all plugins except Visual Composer, clear the cache, purge the cdn file if you’re using and test again. Also make sure you installed the plugin properly as it’s indicated in our documentation: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-visual-composer-plugin-wpbakery/
If the problem persist please let us know what theme version you use or make sure you use the latest version (2.0) and VC 4.5.3

How can I know what is the files of update of 6.1 to 6.2?? … I have version 6.1 and when download the theme only appears files of update 6.2 to 6.3.

Any update on this? Seems to be still happening, even with Newspaper 6?

Nevermind – I had to delete it and re-add it to get it to work.

However, any time I update the home page I get a lot of errors:

Warning: array_filter() expects parameter 1 to be array, null given… – line 46

Update:

I think it is an issue with my Visual Composer as I am unable to add any blocks or edit the columns. The same happens, an empty box opens up that sticks to the bottom of my screen and only has close and save changes buttons.

Thanks, I just got it working not sure what it was. I tried the permalink rebuild, I also changed the path in phpadmin and also us this SQL query, UPDATE wp_posts SET guid = replace(guid, ‘http://www.old-domain.com’,’http://www.new-domain.com’);

Not sure which one did it, but it works!

Actually we do recommend a plugin like Adrotate to extend theme’s ad system functionality, you can see this in our ads system guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/ads-system-full-guide/
You can’t use php code inside any of theme’s ad spots. Sorry! and unfortunately the theme doesn’t have an option to filter the ads by category so to implement that feature you need custom work which we cannot offer it as we work hard on the development, updates, fixes and support.
You can always get a freelancer from sites like: http://studio.envato.com/ if you need this and don’t know how to do it yourself.
