Hi,
Please also update the theme to the latest version then check if this issue is still happening. Also noticed that you have minified some css/js. Please disable the minify option then empty cache/purge files and check again if the error is doesn’t happen. My guess is that when you have w3 total cache active the issue doesn’t happen because of the cache.
Please let me know!
Thanks
Hi,
I have also noticed that lack of styling and suspected that it due to a plugin. Please make sure you deactivate all plugins leaving just Visual Composer active then empty cache and purge files then let me know and leave it that way so I can take a look.
Those console errors are most likely generated by a plugin as we haven’t had any issues of this type with the theme. You should also consider re-uploading the latest theme files via FTP if nothing helps: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme/
Please let me know!
Thanks
Hi,
Sorry about that, I haven’t understood well!
The theme works like this:
This where the block query is made: http://screencast.com/t/h6JTwp0Lnvv
Then the block parameters are converted in wp_query arguments: http://screencast.com/t/b8TU3CbG
Here the block shortcodes attributes are passed into the query as arguments: http://screencast.com/t/VwnsTMFxxDe
You need to build and add your own custom taxonomy, here are some info about how you can do that: http://codex.wordpress.org/Class_Reference/WP_Query#Taxonomy_Parameters
Unfortunately the theme hasn’t been tooth to work using custom taxonomies but you could try this implementation on your own, this is not easy job and we suggest you to hire a developer or a freelancer from sites like: http://studio.envato.com/ if you don’t know how to do it yourself.
Unfortunately we cannot offer custom work at this time as we work hard on the development, updates, fixes and support.
Thanks for understanding!
Hi @historiek,
Thanks for reporting the bug 🙂 I have fixed the issue and an update should be available in 1-2 hours 🙂
Thanks again!
Hi Lucian,
I disabled all the plugins as you requested and I still was showing the error. I have set up a temp site to see if I can replicate the error and I noticed something. When looking at the slide using inspect element there are a number of style elements that seem to be missing on my main site. The following is an example:
This is from the test site
<div class=”item” itemscope=”” itemtype=”http://schema.org/Article” style=”-webkit-backface-visibility: hidden; overflow: hidden; position: absolute; -webkit-transform: matrix(1, 0, 0, 1, 2800, 0); transform: matrix(1, 0, 0, 1, 2800, 0); width: 700px;”><div class=”slide-meta”><span class=”slide-meta-cat”>Uncategorized</span><span class=”slide-meta-author”><time itemprop=”dateCreated” class=”entry-date updated” datetime=”2014-11-18T16:05:56+00:00″>Nov 18, 2014</time><meta itemprop=”interactionCount” content=”UserComments:0″></span></div><div class=”td-sbig-title-wrap”><span class=”td-sbig-title”>test 2</span><span class=”td-sbig-sep”></span></div><meta itemprop=”author” content=”datashepherd”></div>
And this is from the main site
<div class=”item” itemscope=”” itemtype=”http://schema.org/Article”><div class=”thumb-wrap”>
</div><div class=”slide-meta”><span class=”slide-meta-cat”>Humanities</span><span class=”slide-meta-author”><time itemprop=”dateCreated” class=”entry-date updated” datetime=”2014-11-16T14:33:00+00:00″>Nov 16, 2014</time><meta itemprop=”interactionCount” content=”UserComments:0″></span></div><div class=”td-sbig-title-wrap”><span class=”td-sbig-title”>Faith & Reason at Westmister</span><span class=”td-sbig-sep”></span><span class=”td-sbig-title”>Books</span><span class=”td-sbig-sep”></span></div><meta itemprop=”author” content=”editor3″></div>
The main site seems to be missing the styling required for the slide to work. This is in addition to still having the js error. I’m at a loos on how to fix this the main site is to go live by the end of the week. Any help is appreciated.
Hi,
The WPBakery Visual Composer plugin is included within theme files each time the theme updates and you don’t need to activate it just make sure you install the WPBakery Visual Composer plugin from the plugins folder that came with themes files like this: https://forum.tagdiv.com/update-the-visual-composer-plugin-wpbakery/
Currently the available plugin version is 4.3.4 the latest one available and also included with the files of our latest theme version 4.5
Thanks
OK. I have checked the demo. It looks really nice and once again I love the work of the team but…it really looks like an update and not a new theme.
Moreover, you will start from scratch on theme forest counter…which is really not a good decision. Newspaper is stil marked as “new” and “trending” on theme forest. Why dont you surf on it ?
Have you done a case study on what the best seller do? X has released a totally new version of its theme with new plugins,…
Hi,
Please make sure you use this guide any updated the theme manually via FTP: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme/
Please make sure you updated the theme right then check if you still have this same issues but without any plugins active, leave active just the Visual Composer plugin.
Please let me know if you still have issues!
Thanks
Hi,
First please make sure you use it like this: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-manage-the-social-counter/
If still doesn’t start working please send an email at contact@tagdiv.com specifying this in your subject and we will send you the fixed version of this plugin as we had some issue with it and we managed to fix them but the new version of this plugin won’t be available until next theme update.
Thanks
OK , i hope you will fix this in the next update ,,,, thank you ^_^
Hi,
1. The theme doesn’t have an option for that an you can change it via custom css for all menu items, follow the topic form the URL as I have posted a solution on how you can do this here: https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/several-issues/
You can do it for individual menu items but it will not be easy and you need custom work for that.
2. Like this: https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/ad-on-homepage/#post-24051
3. With this css: http://screencast.com/t/SKMarcdAd4
.block-child-cats a {
font-size: 18px;
}
4. Can’t recommend you one as we haven’t made tests with none, you can search online and test it to see if it works.
5. You need a plugin for that, not sure which one it’s used on the site you have provide the screenshot but you can try to find one online: http://www.bloggingwizard.com/top-wordpress-social-sharing-plugins-2014/
6. You can try to edit the td_module_blog.php file and change this: http://screencast.com/t/8P4veeALzl1L as the theme panel dosen’t have an option for this.
7. Can’t recommend any plugin that dose that, I suggest you do a google search and find one online.
8. You have to use that plugin if you want a similar functionality as the theme doesn’t have an option like that for the comments box.
9. Just add your gif image to your post using “add media” the same way you upload and add a normal jpg image: http://screencast.com/t/nkrXbZQbWHt
10. Replied here!
11. You can use the same method offered for the big slider’s big image and change the css for other images as you like using this @media css snippets to target just the mobile screens:
/* responsive phone */
@media (max-width: 767px) {
/* add you css code here */
}
If you don’t have any html/css basic knowledge and don’t know how to do this we suggest you to hire someone to help you with it as this needs custom work and we cannot offer any type of custom work at this time because we work hard on development, updates, fixes and support and we don’t have time left. You can also get a freelancer from sites like: http://studio.envato.com/ if don’t have anyone to helps you with this.
12. Unfortunately I can’t helps with this also as I can’t recommend you any. You should search for a similar one online.
13. This is a block 1 widget and you can change it from appearance > widgets > then go to the sidebar you use there and search for block 1 widget then for “custom title filed” and change the title like this: http://screencast.com/t/mSQHBYBG8w
14. Via custom css using this custom css in theme panel > custom css filed: http://screencast.com/t/HO4TJR2yc
.prev-post div, .next-post div {
font-size: 33px;
}
15. Use this css: http://screencast.com/t/uQNePflX
.next-prev a {
display: none;
}
16. Unfortunately the theme doesn’t have a feature like that, you can try to find a plugin that dose that or you could use our social sharing buttons, add them there and use css to style them. You will also need custom work for this.
17. You can edit the post template file you are using and move this line, like this: http://screencast.com/t/OqnqyBtd and then use css to style it as you like. We suggest to get someone to help you with this if you don’t know how to do it.
18. The theme is already responsive build so I’m not sure what your issue is, please provide more details.
19. You can remove the underline for title on hover via css like this: http://screencast.com/t/4cxK85zYOuX
But to change the color when hovered to the category the post is part from you need more css and custom work.
.td_mod_wrap .entry-title a:hover {
text-decoration:none !important;
color: red;
}
20. You can your answer here: https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/show-category-name-in-homepage/
Thanks
Hi,
We know about this and we have it on our todo list and we are trying to fix this in future updates, until then you can set an custom excerpt for the posts you have this issue with using the excerpt filed from post editing panel: http://screencast.com/t/dICA2rNDw
Hope this helps! Sorry for the inconvenience!
Thanks
Hi,
The WPBakery Visual Composer plugin is included within theme files each time the theme updates and you don’t need to activate it just make sure you install the WPBakery Visual Composer plugin from the plugins folder that came with themes files like this: https://forum.tagdiv.com/update-the-visual-composer-plugin-wpbakery/
Thanks
Maybe I need to update the theme?
Where can I find the update module?
Hi,
First of all try to deactivate all plugins, empty cache then re-save your permalinks structure then check again to see if you still get a blank page instead a 404 one.
Secondly, regarding update you can make a copy of your actual theme installation then update to the latest version and make the customization’s you need/want to the latest version as this would be the most ordinary way.
You also have the option to update using a patch and copy an overwrite just the files that have actually changed until 4.5 version. If you prefer this you can send an email at contact@tagdiv.com specify this in your email massage and we will send you a patch from 4.0.2 version to 4.5.
Thanks
We’re not having that issue here. If it just “suddenly” happened, check the plugins which you might have updated lately; and try looking at your page in Chrome developer tools (F12) as it will tell you what errors are being generated (I used to be annoyed when people would tell me to do that, this year I actually started paying attention to that … it does work in helping to figure this kind of gremlin out ….!)
Hi
yeah. The only reason to use a child theme is if you plan on hacking things and don’t want to re-hack them on theme updates, which I actually prefer to do.
If you look at the theme activation page, you would only be running the “child” theme if you expressly activated it. If you didn’t do that and are running the “parent” theme, then this has no impact on what you’re doing at all.
Meaning, the child theme doesn’t work automatically, only if you expressly activate it from the WP theme panel. If you’re not using it, you could delete it, but if you ARE using it, you would want to switch back to main (parent) theme before deleting it.
For info on what child themes are all about, the WP codex/docs
http://codex.wordpress.org/Child_Themes
If you’re loading the slider with content from another site, it might be timing out.
Check your home page in Chrome developer tools (F12), or Firebug in Firefox (etc.) to see what errors are being generated.
Check the page source of your home page to look at the code for the slider “on the page.”
If this happened “suddenly” – check for any plugins you’ve updated.
Yeah, we had run into that when using AddThis plugin to put the share buttons at both top AND bottom of the post, and Disqus seemed to conflict with that …. changed the AddThis to just one location, and got latest Disqus update. Seems to be okay.
Weird!
I was having freezing on one of our sites running Disqus, and was particularly bad in IE11/Win7-64. Could not figure out if it was Disqus or AddThis plugin; but between those two and the Google ads — something kept causing page to just lock- like permanent wait for something to load …. “the page … has stopped working ….” (!).
And this was NOT using the Newspaper theme btw — (Canvas).
Note that both Disqus and Addthis have put out a WHOLE BUNCH of updates the past month (dot revisions) due to various problems.
This might not be related to your issue, but it’s the only thing we’ve been able to find as it only impacts the sites using those plugins, and the other sites NOT using those (running Newspaper theme or Canvas) have zero such issues.
Very annoying. In our case we ruled out anything theme related, so you may want to keep an eye on those plugins as there *is* something funky going on, and it’s not just you !
This is also for /tag and pages that are not found.
I am running 4.0.2 – reason being all of the updates overwrite my custom changes.
*(1) Is there an easier way to do this without having to overwrite all files, even ones that weren’t changed? I do see that there is a listing of all the files added/deleted/updated- (2) is it mandatory to search and delete the ones that are listed as deleted?

Hi, thanks for your help.
My bad I misspelled the wed address. its http://www.motiongraphics.co.il
As for the CSS update – I managed to fix the big slide direction and the remove the shadow but the couldn’t change the mega-menu direction and the bottom border color.
I actually want to do a couple of changes there – I want to change the whole border from white to my header BG color, and also the hover border color.
As for the menu color – I meant for the menu’s text color. my menu BG color is dark and I need to chance the text to a brighter color.
Thanks a lot for your quick reply.
Hi,
Please make sure you make a backup of your current theme installation so in case something goes wrong you can revert back to it then use this guide and updated the theme manually uploading the files via FTP: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme/
Thanks
Hi,
Thanks for your suggestions. Regarding the timeline and specific post formats icons on thumbs I have added on our feature requests list and we will consider them for future updates.
For thumbnail inside the posts(feature image), if you don’t want it but you do want the thumbs on blocks/module then you can set the post format to gallery which will display only the thumbs on blocks.
Thanks again for your suggestion and for your message!
