Hello,

We are trying to update Newsmag from 4.7 to 4.9.1 and the previous developer made extensive use of the Theme API within the child theme.

I see that this is no longer supported in 4.9

What are migration steps to support this new version? Do you have a guide?

Functions from API used are:

td_api_category_template()
td_api_category_top_posts_style()
td_util::get_category_option()
td_util::get_option()
td_page_generator::get_pagination();
td_page_generator::get_category_breadcrumbs()
td_api_header_style::_helper_show_header()
td_api_footer_template::_helper_show_footer()
td_global_blocks::get_instance()
td_social_icons::get_icon()

They also created custom classes by extending the td_module and td_block classes so need direction on whether that is still supported in 4.9.x and if not, I’ll need documentation on how to migrate.

I am currently remodeling my site using the 9.8 update and have come across a weird behaviour considering comment urls (as in “https://www.mysite.se/article/comment-page-2#comments“)

Before when clicking on next page of comments would result in an url-change like the one above. Also before when clicking on the comments-symbol in the beginning (to move down to the comments) the url would look like: “https://www.mysite.se/article/#comments“.

This is however not the fact when using a cloud template (which I´m experimenting with now). When switching pages of comments or clicking the comments-symbol the url quickly changes to “../comment-page-2#comments” or “../#comments”. However half a second later the url is back to the normal article one.

I am afraid this behavior might have an effect on SEO if i go live with the site. Have you noticed this during development, and why does this happen?

I have Newspaper 9.6 install, do I still require tagdive speed booster plugin, if not then how the funcationality of this plugin is implemeted in updated versions?

I just changed my website to Newspaper Travel Pro demo’s, but I having problems in updated some important parts.
I checked it all, I don’t have any plugin conflit and have already cleaning the cache, but I’m still having troubles when I try to upload my own picture in author box on the Home Page. I don’t even have an option to choose a singluar circle picture on the TD Componser.
Also, when I try to change pictures on “Top Destinations” area an error that shows “invalid data, current state has involved an issue” appears on the right top of the screen.
Third, my posts are with differents templates, even when I put it to show the default one. For example, I have so many links in my posts to another posts, but when I click on it, appears a different model from the post template of Newspaper Travel Pro’s demo.

I don’t know what more can I do. Can anyone help me?

Hello.

I’m having problems with the posts not saving. It stalls when trying to update the post…and then says “update failed.” Those pages may occasionally not load and give a connection error. It can be completely random…as in..working one day…and then not the next.

I have:

1. Moved to a new server.
2. Updated to 4.9.1.
3. Had my host provider optimize the server according to your specs.
4. Turned off all plugins except the composer.

Still doing it. They say I should ask you.

Any thoughts? Is this a familiar problem? Will need to ditch the theme if I can’t figure it out.

i did generate a new personal token, with all permissions. If i test the api connection it says that i may no have following permission (which i have):

View and search Envato sites
Download your purchased items
List purchases you’ve made
Whats wrong here? i also cannot update tagdiv composer plugin, it says that i dont have permissions to do so.

Hi! I’ve got to admit that your theme is starting to drive me crazy. Can you give me a hand with this two problems:

1) After update to 9.8 my site https://radioklinika.pl open as AMP on desktop (by redirect to cda from google). This not happen for the logged in users. I have “mobile + amp” setting since 9.6

2) Is it still impossible to have particular pages not as AMP? Im not talkig about pasting content to “mobile content” field. I’m talkin about switchng to “AMP disabled” wich is aviable on evry post/page and meet my expectation (excluding this post/page from AMP)

I’m hoping you can help point me in the right direction. I want to update our blog using the Newspaper theme. Specifically the black demo version. Can you please instruct me on the steps required to do this without losing any of our site content, media, metadata, etc? I’m hoping there is some sort of tutorial that will walk me through the easiest and most logical steps. Our current blog uses The7 theme and Visual Composer. I’ve tried a few times already and had to restore due to formatting issues. Thank you in advance!

We have updated Newspaper version: 9.6 to 9.8 theme, But we do not activate the theme.

Also, we try to activate the theme manually, But it’s showing loader infinitely without response.

I just bought the theme so far is awesome, congratulation. I just have the typical initial questions. (1) I noticed when making updates under the WP-Back-end/Newspaper/Theme Panel. I can only see my updates if I preview them while being login. If I review them on a different browser or incognito I do not see any of the updates. Do you have a build-in cache feature we need to clear? (2) My second question is in regards the <head> section of the website. I need to implement the typical Google Master Tools, and <meta> sites verification for virtually all services. Do I need to install the code-insert plugin? or you have an area where I can easily drop all this on my <head>

How do I update the top banner in Newspaper fast theme.

I am in the process of upgrading to 9.8. Took the safe bet and made a local copy of the site first (good idea it turns out :P)

I still have a few things to work out before changing the actual site. There is however one thing I can´t get my head around, and that is the pagination for comments. Some of my posts have well over 100 comments that gets divided up into pages of 50. Before I used the Child Theme functionality to alter how the comment pagination was display (for reference). Since pretty much all the Child Theme functionality is gone I wonder how I can make this work again, without altering the actual theme files.

Having a small text just saying “Newer Comments” is´nt really so great. Otherwise really excited about the update.

Hi! I updated my client´s site on a test (staging) site. Everything okay except one major problem: a grid of small banner ads at the bottom of the front page totally broke down. It has been a neat grid in six columns containing Single Images thumbnails on top of each other like here, on the live site:

After updating both the theme and WPBakery on the staging site it looks like this:

Previous version of the theme that worked was 9.7.2. All pages of this site have been built with Visual Composer / WP Bakery.
