Hello,
For the moment we will still provide visual composer free of charge and we do not plan to remove it in the near future, but as the theme moves forward and we develop our own page builder more and more and users will move over to the new page builder as we will not develop anything for visual composer any further, we will probably remove VC in the future but not the near future though. It is hard to say if we will remove VC at all or not from the theme package as it depends on our user base and how many users will still use the visual composer page builder. For the moment we will keep both builders available. We recommend slowly moving over to the tagdiv composer. You can do it over a big time span as the visual composer will still be available many months to come. You can make the move over several months as you can develop pages published privately and only make them visible to the public once they are completed. You can take your time to create the pages.
Thank you!
Version 8 is a new version, not an update, so this is always possible with any major update to anything, whether it’s WP, WooCommerce, or themes. You don’t have to update theme if you don’t want to; it’s not mandatory.
The new theme has option of continuing use of Visual Composer page builder for custom home page or pages; or use new light-weight version the TD Composer. If using the TDC, yes, you will need to test and adjust any page using VC, as some modules are carried over but not all – so you would need to change the pages which have any VC element which TDC does not have.
Options
a) don’t upgrade if you have no compelling reason to do so
b) upgrade and use Visual Composer vs TDC — but yes, any custom code added to any core files always has to be moved to new version as new page templates over-ride old ones; this is common with any customization done to any theme
c) setup test area, with clone of site (such as sub-domain, or folder on existing site); switch to TDC, then adjust pages which have broken elements to alternative option from the TDC builder; then once done – copy the clone dbase into the original dbase and replace old theme with the dev theme. Anybody who knows what they are doing as webdev would know how to do all of that.
Hope that helped!
(I don’t work here; but accept tips of cookies and pies!)
I know it but I want to use only the TD Composer. VISUAL COMPOSER IS DEACTIVATED.
I try to create a NEW PAGE, once I click on “TagDiv Composer”, I can see the elements, but I cannot move any to any page on the right. It shows a white page on the right but no element can be moved there and I get the message “The current page hasn’t been created by Tag Div Composer”.
Yoast SEO is also deactivate
TD composer and visual composer are conflicting. You must choose if you use tag div composer or visual composer. Shame it is no possible both.
Earlier, I have many pages created through visual composer alongwith newspaper theme version 7. Now I update my to version 8 of the theme, my pages created through visual composer is messed. Please see (http://viewpublish.com/income-house-property-basic/)
The contents are lapping over side bar. Please help, I have many pages created through visual composer. Is there any way out.
Hi,
I have a “visual” problem with my “home” page after updating to newspaper version 8.
The home page now looks like this:
The row strecht option in visual composer is set to “strech row”

Before the update the blue row was full width, but the headline and the video were the same position like the rest of the page. I haven’t changed anything, just updated the theme.
I tried to change the row stretch to “strech row and content” and then it looks like this:

How can I get that the blue section is full width like in the second picture, but the content the same position as the rest of the page. (as I tried to highlite in red).
I tried to play with custom css and with the margins but I wasn’t a really nice solution, because it wasn’t responsive. Would be nice if someone could suggest a solution to my problem.
Hey Bogdan,
I meant Half Column 1/2 + 1/2 – does it makes sense? Like we used to have in VISUAL COMPOSER. Like here: https://vc.wpbakery.com/video-academy/add-row-column-visual-composer-wordpress/
Thanks
Hello julingn,
I am sorry if you are using the VC for posts because the TD Composer will not be compatible with posts, sorry! In this case, you should further use the Visual Composer or if you change your mind to stop using posts, you can gradually pass on TD Composer.
Thanks for your understanding!
hello,
Please use this guide to make a sticky sidebar: https://forum.tagdiv.com/smart-sidebar-2/ but please note it only works in an 1/3 column. not and a 1/2 column
Please create your rows in a 2/3 + 1/3 row setting as this is the way the builder was intended to be used: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-use-visual-composer/
Or better yet, use the brand new tagdiv composer that comes with newspaper 8: https://forum.tagdiv.com/tagdiv-composer-tutorial/
Thank you!
Hello,
Please disable all other plugins except the tagdiv composer, clear cache and reset cdn files. Then test again and see if the issue is still there.
If you used visual composer on posts, then you should disable the new tagdiv composer as the new builder does not work on posts and breaks the layout.
Visual composer was never meant to be used on posts.
Thanks.
Hello,
@yachtsailingcharter Yes you can use the tagdiv composer for single images as well. Please check the elements list in the new composer: https://www.screencast.com/t/218FedMCH
@travisnw if you want to continue using visual composer you can do it exactly as before. We will still be releasing updates for the plugin. We will not be adding new block elements to it though but you can use it exactly as before.
You should not use visual composer shortcodes in the tdc builder. Thyeh ave different implementations and the best way to go about it is simply to recreate the page, not copy it from one builder to another. Please read this guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/visual-composer-tagdiv-composer-transition/
As for our future plans, yes we plan to further improve our own builder rather then adding content to an an external builder.
VC will still be available for people who still want to use it. We will not delete it anytime soon but we always recommend our own builder.
Thank you!
Hello csassienie,
Your website is needed, so I can take a closer look at it. Notice that the Tabs will not work with our TD Composer, sorry. You should use only the Visual Composer. Provide some useful screenshots with your problem so I can identify it.
Thanks.
Hello @PatWire and @nairolf,
I am sorry if you are not happy with our new page builder but notice that it is not mandatory to use it. If you do not like it, you further use the Visual Composer but notice that in the future, we will release some features which will be exclusively on TD Composer. Keep in mind that the TD Composer works as expected with the theme and is fully optimized with the theme. For more information about this builder, please check the documentation here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/tagdiv-composer-tutorial/ -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/visual-composer-tagdiv-composer-transition/
Thanks for your understanding!
Hi,
The row does have the option to stretch and it is working properly using the tagDiv composer. If you do not want to use this editor, deactivate it and keep using Visual composer. At the moment some of the elements that are available in Visual composer are not present in tagDiv composer. More elements and features will be added in future theme updates for this editor.
If you want to use tagDiv composer you need to create new pages, do not edit pages created in Visual composer.
Thanks

Do you need any other information?
I’m confused… Allow me a simple question:
Can Visual Composer and the new TD Composer exist together or not?
I did read a the guide in the sticky post on this forum and it says that i have to rebuild all my existing pages. I thought: you got to be kidding me! I have no time to rebuild all pages and i don’t want my pages, my links, my seo to change. I’m a conservative guy… well when it comes to my site lay-out that is.
Thanks for answering this.
Hi Chris,
thanks for answering again. Especially as you are not working here and do it on your spare time 😉
AS tagdiv composer can not be used for posts (ONLY pages)
I can not simply switch off visual composer
AND start using tagdiv composer
because I would ruin the look & feel of all of my posts.
Or do I oversee something and tagdiv composer is also useable for posts?
best,
Norman
AGAIN: you cannot use BOTH plugins same time. Period.
If choosing to use TD Composer, you will need to
a) NOT activate VC under plugins panel !
b) adjust any/all existing pages built with VC, as TDC not 1:1 replacement.
c) then, all FUTURE new pages would be built with TDC
Put another way, imagine Visual Composer went out of business and TD made their own version to maintain compatibility with WP moving forward, but not direct replacement as some elements are ‘owned’ by VC as it’s their commercial code.
Or, put another way – say you like some of what VC did in making cool home page layouts, but VC crashes your server, especially if you’re still on PHP 5.4 — this would be suitable replacement for much lighter weight, less resource heavy, version to do “mostly” the same thing. And, it’s also got less code complexity and “bloat” and therefore far less likely to have the security flaws which have popped up once in a while with VC.
(I don’t work here.)
Dear team tagDiv,
¿Who has been the person who wrote you the guide “Visual Composer to tagDiv Composer transition”?
¿How can you tell your users to duplicate the same pages and linked to the new one?
¿You didn’t know that you can not duplicate the same page under the same exact link?
Beginners users (they are many) who have no idea about SEO, they’re going to lose all traffic, positions, etc. coze all their pages are new one in to the Google view.
¡What a blunder you made with your newer update!
Norman, I had the same issue. I actually love Visual Composer — it’s one reason why I switched from another theme that had its own custom page builder to Newspaper. I loved that Newspaper used VC.
When I recently installed version 8 and activated the Tagdiv Composer my pages and posts were messed up.
When I deactivated it, my site worked fine again. So I can’t see how it’s possible to have both VC and Tagdiv Composer plugins activated without there being problems.
Plus, Tagdiv advised me to switch to their composer because from now on the support will be for that (and not for Newspaper with VC).
I’m not sure what to do. I don’t want to take time to reformat my entire website right now in order to adapt to Tagdiv Composer. But I also don’t want to use a theme with VC if it’s not supported. It’s a conundrum!

Here is the page. https://forum.tagdiv.com/visual-composer-tagdiv-composer-transition/
But you did not answer the most important question. I am operating from Washington DC and I realised that when I try to create a new page using TagDiv Composer, once I click on “add element”, I can see the elements, but I cannot move any to any page on the right. It shows a white page on the right but no element can be moved there. That’s why I had purchased Visual Composer because it was not working. So my question is, does it have to do with where I am operating from. I am also using a Google Chrome browser, does it have to do with the browser? I am also using a Window 10 laptop, does it have to do with the version of the Window I am using? The bottom line is even after watching your video, which is not detailed as it assumed that elements would be moved easily. But they are not moving. Maybe I should mention that once I open to create a new page, I see Back end editor and TagDiv composer, and once I choose TagDiv and proceed to add an element, it is just frozen from there. Your demonstration is gorgeous, but it’s simply not working for many of us.
Important Note: Do not use both page builders on the same page!
Read carefully here: https://forum.tagdiv.com/visual-composer-tagdiv-composer-transition/
Hi,
That sorting option is not available in the Visual composer that comes provided in the thee package. It would not be easy to add a new sorting option besides the default ones. Please try and use the available post sorting options for the blocks and widgets.
Thanks
Hi,
The Visual composer plugin is provided in the theme package, and updated along with the theme updates. There is no need to enter a license code, it is provided pre-activated. The activation messages can be ignored because it does not prevent you from using this editors features. When a new update for Visual composer is available, it will be available as soon as possible in a theme update.
You can find more information about this here
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-visual-composer-plugin/
Thanks
Hi,
If you have been using Visual composer for the posts, problems like this could happen when the tagDiv composer is activated. You should leave it disabled for now, and use Visual composer.
Thanks
