Is there any way to improve this in a future update? I think the styles defined by an author should override what’s configured in the cloud template.

Alternatively, what would you recommend as a workaround? For example, if I want posts in a certain category to have post content font size 17 and block quote font size 18, how would I be able to configure that and still allow authors to apply their own stylings within a post?

This does work, but isn’t ideal and introduces other limitations. I want to be able to change the post content font size, as well as headers and block quotes, using the cloud template.

If I’m forced not to set font settings in the cloud template, how else can I customise the style of posts?

Ideally, we should be able to use both. The cloud template to style posts across the site, and the user settings for individual changes.

Also experiencing difficulty with this issue. It is highly frustrating when parts of the theme are unchanged without explanation.

Like the above user, our site also used to show just the direct subcategories. Now, it shows multiple levels.

This is a highly complex theme that largely works well, yet the last few releases have developed an unwanted habit of breaking things that were working fine.

I do hope category siblings is fixed asap, or at least returned to how it used to function.

That will work to an extent, but then other text in articles would not be font size 17. That would then mean manually changing the font size for all other paragraphs.

Post content font size should be the default, then if a custom font size is set in typography settings, this should override the default.

This is how it used to be, as our articles all rendered correctly prior to the latest update.

That is correct, but prior to this update, typography settings worked without having to delete that value.

The change in 12.6.9 isn’t ideal. If we want the body text larger, we would now have to manually adjust each paragraph.

This has worked perfectly in the past. However, after upgrading to 12.6.9, the typography settings have no effect when using the same cloud template.

Existing posts that have small font defined are not rendered correctly. The HTML shows <p class=”has-small-font-size”> but the text is not rendered small.

Given the posts all displayed correctly prior to the update, I can only assume something has changed with the theme.

I think I may have found the culprit. In the relevant cloud template, post content font size is defined manually.

Prior to the latest theme update, defining font sizes in the post article would override the default setting from the cloud template, but this no longer appears to be the case.

The only way I can get font sizes to apply from the editor is to completely remove the font size setting in the cloud template, as highlighted here: https://imgur.com/a/xcxZokN

This is unwanted behaviour. Ideally, any manually defined font sizes in an article should override what is defined in the cloud template.

Quick update on this. I’ve found that specifying the theme-color meta tag – <meta name=”theme-color” content=”#f0f0f0″> – applies the correct colour to the top status bar, but the lower, minimised navigation bar doesn’t change colour at all.

Perhaps this is one for the suggestions pile, as the theme-colour meta is increasingly prevalent across modern browsers.

I think this is worth adding to the list of feature suggestions.

Ideally, it would be great to have an option in the filter panel of flex blocks to ‘show sticky posts.’ Whereby sticky posts are shown first, followed by the other filters as normal.

Would be helpful in allowing authors the ability to pin posts, without needing to access or change page templates.

Found a solution! Under Post Settings, I’ve set the default site post template to ‘Default’ and the Public Preview plugin is working.

Cloud Templates are instead configured individually for each category, under Categories -> Per Category Settings -> Post Cloud Library Template.

@Anamaria I’ve tried deleting and reinstalling the plugin, but no luck. Same as SteganGebala, it’s stopped working after we switched exclusively to cloud templates.

Would be very helpful if you could try it out and see if you experience the same.

While Public Post Preview isn’t officially tested with the latest versions of WordPress, I can confirm it was working with 6.7.1.

It only stopped for me when I switched from standard templates to cloud templates. Now, when a Public Preview link such as ?p=58830&preview=1&_ppp=c7f0ac42c5 is created, it redirects to a cloud template path, /tdb_templates/blank-single-template/

Unfortunate as it was such a useful tool to have. While I appreciate this plugin isn’t on Newspaper’s officially supported list, it would be so helpful if someone from the team could try it and see if they experience the same.

I’ve recently switched to cloud templates and have also run into the same problem, Public Post Preview has stopped working with links redirecting to a template.
