Hi, just a follow up to say that having eventually contacted support towards the end of May, I had a very positive outcome.

I imagine issues that arise are sometimes (with the emphasis on sometimes) caused by end users who perhaps try to get too ambitious on the sites by adding in substantial plugins (like me) or editing templates in not quite the right way and don’t necessarily understand some of the consequences of doing things (like me) which have the potential to cause a few gremlins!

In my case, Simion investigated the issues reported, knew what caused them and fixed them in a very efficient and professional manner.

I imagine working in support must seem like an endless task working in support.

So reach out to them if you have a problem.

Hi Anamaria

Re ”Save Settings – Nothing saves, results in Spinning Wheel”

Thanks for your suggestion – will try that.

Import/Export Theme Settings

Elsewhere in response to queries raised previously in this topic…
https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/problems-with-save-setting-and-theme-colour_/

support has suggested there have been isolated cases where settings in theme panel have been lost. Support recommends back up for the theme panel

So trying to follow the instructions as per

https://forum.tagdiv.com/import-export-theme-settings/

Dashboard>Newspaper>Theme Panel >Import/Export
Clicking YES on the ‘YOU ARE ABOUT TO LEAVE THE THEME PANEL AREA’ box

results in the the following message – I have replaced the url of my site with ‘name of site’ below.

‘This page isn’t working
name of site is currently unable to handle this request’

Hope that helps clarify the second issue.

Thanks

Hi, firstly just to say I don’t work for tagdiv support but I had a similar issue and I sort of followed what was suggested by support in this thread.

Website compromised : need to update newspaper theme eand td-composer plugin

And it worked to some degree. I also had a issue some weeks ago and found that the Standard Pack plugin had deactivated for some reason. Reactivated it and all was ok.

I would advise using a test or staging environment where you can check it all out first, that would be useful. I never used to bother doing any testing but I do with tagdiv!

Good luck

Hi Anamaria
Sorry for jumping in on this.

As support people you know what you mean. However, I sometimes find that replies from tagDiv are not always clear, leading to some confusion.

It may be obvious to you when you suggest ‘resave the settings’ or ‘You need only to click save; you do not need to change a setting to save’ and ‘You just need to save in the theme panel, no settings need to be changed.’

I assume you simply mean

In the Theme Panel, there is a ‘Save Settings’ button. Click that button.

If that’s the case, perhaps it would be easier just to say the above.

However, if it’s more complicated than that, I stand corrected and will stop butting in on someone else’s issue. 🙂

On a positive note, having worked in a similar environment a few years back, it’s an endless task which requires patience so thank you to you and all the others in support.

Best, Ian

Hi Aldis

I was using this Directories Pro plugin which was working quite well. My site is back into staging at the moment so can’t show how I use it, but it works ok with Newspaper. Am sure with a bit of creativity design wise, it can be customised to fit in with what you are trying to do.

Hope that helps, Ian

Hi, just wanted to say that I really like the look of your website.

Hi, there are previous threads on this issue. And Calin has in theory provided a solution to fixing it.

I can’t seem to link through to help you but have a look at the other threads

Good luck

Hi sm21nz
I have absolutely no idea about hiding functions in code and malware etc – my ‘expertise’ doesn’t reach that far. I have a colleague who blinds me with science on that kind of stuff. All I know is that a recent non tagDiv themed site I have been working on has been cloned on 2 occasions….thankfully, there wasn’t much content and no real point in cloning them as they are not going to gain much….so will just carry on using a different domain – that will fool them for about 5 minutes 🙂
Good luck with sorting your sites

OK, I am sure this won’t be a popular view.

I get that this was very inconvenient to many people and may have caused some embarrassment if clients see the message, but I believe many people have possibly over reacted. I get that tagDiv’s handling of this issue has been poor and the use of inconvenience wasn’t the best phrase to use but it seems that in my case tagDiv’s subsequent response to how to fix the issue seems to have solved the 2 sites, at least for now..appreciate that this is early days. It does seem like an easy fix. I also appreciate some people no doubt have many sites so understand the time involved in fixing their own sites.

Of course, I have no idea as yet on any effect on Google Analytics.

If people are so worried about the views that some will have when they saw the message on the website, why not just post a message on the site explaining in simple terms what happened etc – just a thought.

Can I also add that some of the words used in some of the comments are a bit out of order….yes, people may be angry but perhaps think before you type next time.

Hi BruceInLouisville

I have held back developing my website any further due to the difficulties in the updates. I am on v 9.7.4, so a few updates behind – I thought I would hang back a bit from updating the theme until the bugs were fixed. I was drawn to the Newspaper theme for the simple reason that I am not a developer/designer but a mere novice with a reasonable amount of knowledge of WordPress themes, a willingness to learn a bit more and a budget which only extends to paying someone to do a fair amount of technical work behind the scenes and SEO. I really like the Newspaper theme but the person who does the updating has also suggested I move to a different theme, one which isn’t perhaps as complicated to maintain.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do!

Hi Calin

Thanks for your reply. I have looked at the link. As I am using v 9.7.4, not sure if the above way of updating applies to me….please advise.

Cheers, Ian

Hi, apologies for jumping on this thread – I also have the same issue with the videos on my site. Would be interested to know what the solution is, thanks.

Hi

I don’t use The Events Calendar so can’t offer any advice.

I use the Modern Events Calendar plugin by Webnus on my website site, which I am in the process of putting together…so far it works ok with the theme for what I need…which is a directory-based site with links to event listings.

The only issue is that I have 2 filters, one that opens up in the body of the website, the other opens as a pop-up…but I go with 2 filters are better than one. The events side is a minor part of the site.

You can find it here..

https://webnus.net/modern-events-calendar/

Good luck..

Hi, I meant to add that, of course the fundamental thing is on the tagDiv Image Box, there is no option to upload the image, using v 9.7.4

Hi
Apologies for adding my comments on this thread…

I reported this issue re Pinterest on 20th January 2020, and the advice (21st Jan 2020) was to contact support via email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide the following:

– admin url and credentials
– cPanel url and credentials
– A link to this topic in order to identify you

I haven’t done this as I have found an alternative way with Powerkit.

I think there are a few people in this forum who have reported the same issue, so am pleased it’s not just me. I am using v 9.7.4 so it may be just the old versions with this issue. However, I am not updating to the new version just yet…..I like to sleep at nights 🙂

Hi Calin

Thanks for your response – it still isn’t working. FYI, 2 url links below..

Example 1
Home page
https://glampified.com/
On LHS of Home Page, under Follow Glampified, the tagDiv Pinterest feed I have is ‘Featured Suppliers Pinterest’ and I added a test one underneath ‘Test Pint BTB’.

Neither work

Under these 2, I have added another feed with Powerkit in case yours doesn’t- that works

Example 2
https://glampified.com/directory-listing/accommodation-structures/bell-tent-boutique/

RHS Sidebar
Under Bell Tent Boutique Instagram
Both tagDiv Test Pin and Bell Tent Boutique Pinterest feeds don’t work

At Bottom of sidebar, the two Powerkit Test BTB and BELLTENTBOUTIQ/GLAMPING-FUN work fine.

I have disabled the Powerkit plugin to see if there is a conflict with tagDiv – there isn’t.

Please advise – I would prefer to use your tagDiv feeds but if yours don’t work and the Powerkit one does, then I can use that.

Regards

Ian

In the absence of tabs through tagDiv, this plugin might work for you

WP Tab Widget.

I think there is a pro version as well that might work.

Tabs - reply

Hi Vlad

Looking at the issues of tabs and tabbed content again…it appears there have been a few topics started in the past (including mine) commenting on the lack of tabs/tabbed content.

Are there any plans to include them again in the near future?

Tabs - reply

Hi Vlad

Thanks for responding – and no need to apologise for the inconvenience…apart from being polite 🙂

It’s not an inconvenience when there are ways around things that tagDiv don’t offer.

However, perhaps developing a similar type widget could be helpful in the future…just a thought!

Tabs - reply

Hi Vlad

Thanks for getting back so quickly.. well, this is what I mean…on RHS side of site, on sidebar, I have some posts showing up in Tabs – Popular, Recent, Tags

https://glampified.com/directory-listing/accommodation-structures/bell-tent-boutique/

I know that tagDiv provide widgets to enable Posts to be displayed in sidebars but haven’t seen a way to sort them into tabs in sidebars.

I have used WP Tab Widget for this – just testing a few things at the moment..it seems to work okish (probably slows the site down a bit).

I guess it’s similar to the Related Articles and More From Author

that you have at the end of posts such as here

https://glampified.com/spaces-and-places/glamping-accommodation/why-bell-tents-are-becoming-a-favourite-glamping-product/

So, appreciate some plugins aren’t supported by tagDiv so thought I would ask if you knew of any that were compatible!

Thanks for your interest, regards

Ian
