Might adjust Padding, Margins (may need to use negative margins) – you can get the options from Design Options on Visual Composer popup – last tab.

I am not a coding expert, so I can best play with margins and put things over one another.

It happened to me on another site – when I was trying to upload the same theme with original theme already installed. I deleted the installed theme (after changing to another theme) and was then able to upload the zip file – it worked.

However, as you described – it seems you are installing Newspaper 7 for first time – so i am not sure why this could happen.

You could activate one of the default themes – like twentyseventeen, delete all other themes (logout, login – i am saying this just-in-case), and then try to upload again.

MailChimp works. (in general for any sort of plugins – use the Favorite, Most Popular etc to filter out the good ones. Also, a good check is to see if the plugin is currently supported, when last updated etc.).

I heard MailPoets also, but haven’t used it.

I might suggest to get some professional help, as this can break the theme. This is because there are many related components in different files which are inter-related.

adding to what Chris said, my very new experience with WordPress lets me believe that figuring out a theme’s origin is not difficult in WordPress. At the same time, changing file names and td_ (which i believe stands for TagDiv), the name and version of the theme are written as per WP guidelines and included in the files – stylesheets etc.

TagDiv Newspaper theme is a very popular and great theme, and for starting a news site, i would be happy to let my audience and people know I am using this theme, so they know I mean serious business. In fact, after using NP7, i saw some other website and without even looking at source code, i could say it was news paper 7 theme – its the quality of work which shows. That also tells me, i made a good choice by putting my money here.

I had same situation when i started – i used show most recent and randomized order posts instead of categories. After 200+ posts, now I switched to related categories. Maybe you can use the same trick.

I think the Custom CSS boxes to put code cannot be edited. Its locked. All of the input boxes on the page are locked for editing. Only box which is active and can be typed into is CUSTOM BODY CLASS(S) and it has td-magazine written inside the box.

I tried to edit the code as you suggest and then activate the plugin. I think it is working.. and without issues… i did not get any alert or site break / FOUC …

AMP is good with the theme, and i think with the optimizer following 2 has become green in pagespeed.

Merci mult. I will also check with them. Maybe I also wanted to suggest that you can invite some of the users to test the theme with the plugins – and maybe create a list or sticky post on this forum) where people can select which plugins they have used and is working. I am not suggesting all plugins because this will make an impossible task. for example main areas and maybe keep top 3. sometimes, hosting providers block certain plugin because of resources. I feel it improves the usability of the theme for so many people who are new and it help to maintain your theme position as #1. It can also save so much time for your team to answer same questions from new people 🙂

Its a great theme… and I am trying to learn more. You people are doing great work with the theme and maintain this forum also.

I have tried many options – and none of them are working – they all break the site with FOUC – i think it has to do with forcing the CSS/JS – still trying to figure out.

Visual Composer is available through the plugins and is working without any extra activation.

for the other part, maybe enter a text box, or html box using the visual composer and then add your search box code.

I am using it without the plugin, it seems to work fine – especially the off-screen menus and search. the main difference for me is the slider – if i use mobile theme plugin – it will show maybe 3 featured posts, without that I can still show slider working when people open the site on mobile (i think it is better).

Another thought to add: when the caching starts to work, the display could be different – as this gets controlled by cache and browser (with option to request original – seen on android). so you might be better with activating mobile theme.

P.S. in case you have some improvement/suggestions for http://www.oilwire.net, I will be in debt. this is my first wordpress site.

As you mention, the AMP plugin is working with the theme, if possible, can you include in the list of validated plugins, so it is not showing with flagged message in the Status Window. For new people like me, it will be very helpful. 🙂

I intend to continue to use the AMP plugin then, seems a lifesaver in current situation, when other methods of speed improvement – cache plugins, minify etc does not seem to be working for me.

Similar reply was here… so actually it is important to change the fonts – not using default. This is working fine for me (except the RSS widget – i think it still pick up default font).

I installed the demo, load individual page themes using visual composer and then updated the individual blocks with specific content. I think it was easier than rebuild complete page block by block – maybe later when there is enough content to prioritize and show recent entries.

I have same issues like above on checking with the two sites above. Using Cloudflare with Auto Minify (and other plugins to do the same in WP).

Kindly advise.

It is happening to me also, and then also depending on the browser font settings (Chrome, FF, Edge – all have different font customization).

After adding custom fonts, I also update all the fonts option in the selection boxes for post, pages etc under the Theme Fonts option.

Maybe option is to disable google fonts loading – I manage to do this as I was using some CSS optimization plugins to speed up the google pagescore. You might need to work around the CSS files to ensure the custom font is picked up prior to page load. This could delay the page load – as the font files/resource will need to be loaded (maybe use async option – but I am trying to search myself).

I had this issue, as i had side bar from previous theme. However, the workaround is to create a new sidebar into this theme. Yesterday, I maanaged to resolve this on my site.

I created 2 sidebars – SidebarPage and SidebarPost – by typing this into the empty box which comes below the Default Sidebar. After that, I can go and select the sidebar in the Templates section – for pages and post differently.
