Open graph image is typical method, most often based on featured image.

Choose default template with no featured image for your old posts.

Or:
Delete the image folder from using that, and then re-upload your old image folder. You did make a backup right?

And yes, if you want ‘featured images’ including in your post, you need to set your default template in theme to use one without a featured image.

If you use a template that puts a featured image in post for you, then create featured images, then of course you will have image twice in post; once for the original image and once for the featured image.

So, just choose default template which does not use featured image for all old posts.

We use FeedWordPress and have done for many years.

gzip is supported by all themes, and should be enabled on the server.

If you look into what that is; it basically compresses web content sent from server to the web browser. Nothing to do with the theme, WP, or anything else specifically on the site.

this is a common error when installing or updating a theme; stupidly WP uses ‘index.php’ as a default template file, vs ‘default.php’ and so at some point Google or a hacker will try to index that location when something else is not loading inside the folder due to the way WP works with the htaccess writing. If you get an error going to that page, that is normal, as it should NOT load in the browser.

If you get the errors all the time, something may be wrong. If you get “1” error once in a while. Just mark as fixed and move on.

Google should also be smart enough to not try to load index.php files inside of a folder called /wp-content/themes/foo/index.php

which only shows how “out of touch with reality” that testing and system check tool really is. However, again, this only happens sometimes when something is being updated.

Using a “maintenance mode” plugin can help with this when doing any kind of WP or system updates.

I use Auto Post Thumbnail Pro for several years for same purpose.

You are trying to install the ‘all files’ zip vs the theme only zip.

Only solution is to inline above the fold content in the head.

We use a service called Critical CSS to look at a page then generate the most needed elements, then put in the head before the closing /HEAD element in template.

Yes, you just need to be patient for replies from other users when stuff is not related to the theme.

We use “Auto Post Thumbnail Pro” on our network, as we often have news from our mothership site being pulled into our daughter sites, and this plugin will create thumb and ‘featured image’ from the first image in the post, even if from external site.

The error is saying your hosting is not setup for cURL properly.

So, you either need to have your host fix that, or simply use the FTP method. 🙂

FTP is useful as you can also do backup of content prior to any changes, so you can more easily roll back if you mess something up.

Speed of GIF loading is often due to browser and connection speed; so, while you can specify a ‘time’ within a program like Photoshop to build an animated GIF file, the ‘actual’ time may vary by factors you have no control over.

For example, an animated GIF I did back in 1996 (yeah!) is super fast with modern computers and connections, but was just right back then.

Not sure that helps. But theme and WP have zero control over speed of a GIF file. The GIF just gets loaded on page and “read” by the browser.

However, it is advisable for best results to disable ‘lazy loading’ for image to render properly in some cases, so you might try that.

Also, depending on how your server is setup, the ‘hit counter’ on the page may count ‘bots’ visiting your site, which Google Analytics will filter out, or identify as such.

Might not help, but I find putting the eplicit https path to the themes directory (not to the theme being used, but main theme folder) and plugin directory in the wp-config.php file really helps with weirdo https stuff. Also checking your htaccess file, resaving permalinks after any update, etc.

WordPress can embed YouTube videos without a plugin — you might need to be way more specific.

TD Composer and Visual Composer are two different things. TD Composer is a lightweight replacement for VC, that uses less resources but may not have all the bells and whistles of VC. It does not need VC to work – two totally different things (both are ‘page builders’ which allow you to drag and arrange elements on a page, such as home page layout).

Normally, you would make a new home page ‘page’ and then edit that new page with TDC, you cannot mix/match the two systems. So, you cannot edit a VC ‘page’ with TDC or vice-versa.

Couple of things — if your form uses authenticated email, there would now be a secure port to connect to for email. This may require using an SMTP plugin. We had this issue when first starting to use WooCommerce — customers would not get receipts, we would not get order notices; an SMTP plugin allowed the form(s) to send authenticated email via the mail system for your domain with the proper port number for secure connection for email, and the login/pass for the email account to send with; or, it allows for the proper sending via the built-in sendmail function on server.

So, if you revisit this, consider testing with an ‘SMTP plugin’ for WordPress – there are several in the WP .org plugin repository; cannot recommend specific, as they can each vary depending on server setup (e.g., Apache, Nginx, etc.).
