I disabled Amp and the Mobile theme and went with building out my own Mobile theme using the Cloud Templates.

I was running to all kind of problems trying to get Amp to work and after reading online that there seems to be a lot of problems with Amp even to the point that Google is no longer recommending the Amp code.

If you want to try just disable the Amp and Mobile themes and then next to your templates in the Cloud Template folder you can build out your own mobile pages using the desktop version but editing it for mobile use.

This took a little time but I am very happy with the results and my site loads quickly and looks unique.

Just my 2 cents worth.

Hello all, anyone dealt with adding a featured image and it reduces the resolution?

I have no image modifying plugins. When I add the featured image, and the same image from the media gallery to a post. You can see on the post side by side, the featured image is blurry.

I have made sure all thumbnail settings are on for regular and retina, and processed a bulk regenerate, and cleared all cache. Still same issue.

Example here, the same image is loaded on the content under the featured image and you can clearly see the issue:

Whenever I activate AMP so that my mobile page is viewable properly, it causes a bunch of code to appear all over my website, or people are rerouted somewhere else with popups. I just had malware removed last week. What can I do to be able to use AMP properly?

Hi,

we already did choose the German language, as described in the Docs.
It is working, but not on every text.
For example: “Recent Comments” is still in English. In the Theme Panel under Language, there is the right entry in the input Field “Neueste Kommentare”.
So there is the correct German word in the field, but does not work in the “frontend”.
For now – we don´t have any caching running.
The sites language setting (WP Core) is in German too.

Hope you can help out with this.

Thanks in Advance
Martin

Hello!

This is a form, not a CPT: https://mavjournal.com/register/the-maverick-yearly/, and it has nothing to do with our theme. Any page made with our theme should have that option for the mobile theme if you use the Gutenberg editor. Make sure it is made with our theme, and you do not use the amp plugin alone.

Thank you!

This is quite strange, when I test it seems to be ok – https://i.imgur.com/MSIat5g.png
Do you set the css in this place https://imgur.com/Nqe106v ? If yes, maybe it no longer applies to the amp. In this case please set the css in this place – https://i.imgur.com/FC5Ecz3.png (you need to set it between the style tags).
Let me know the results!

Hello,

If you use our theme and AMP that is come with our theme, then you need to have Amp URL “/?amp” and if you have set the redirect mobile to AMP then will be /?amp=1 as it is written in the documentation => https://www.screencast.com/t/IpVB48WJVG -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/tagdiv-amp-plugin-tutorial/

Thank you!

Hi, I have what is probably a really stupid question, but for the life of me, I cannot find an answer. How do I eliminate the “boxes” that appear around the side of the header & footer? I tried to figure out how to attach a screenshot but can’t figure that out either. Thanks!

Hi,

If i use Mobile+AMP, the mobile theme plugin works well with /?amp but not with /amp
In amp settings i have chosen transitional and paired url structure “Path Suffix”

Hello,

Please check this topic https://wordpress.org/support/topic/how-to-prevent-archive-pages-from-getting-indexed-in-google/. You can achieve that from your SEO plugin.
therefore you can use Yoast SEO to control the SEO for cloud templates, for example https://i.imgur.com/6BRLmIs.png after that you need to reindex your website on Google (or you can reindex only that link).

Let me know the results!
Thank you!

I use Mobile theme plugin of course.
And i use “amp for wp”, not “amp” plugin because of ads problem.
So i ask the question again : how to use mobile theme plugin with “amp for wp” since it’s only available in the paid version of “amp for wp” ?

Hello!

You don’t need to buy an amp. You can use Mobile theme + AMP. You can not mix the mobile version.
We have 3 options for mobile versions that you can use:

1. Responsive version: A responsive version of your website looks similar to the desktop version. TagDiv Composer is used to edit the page.Click on the mobile viewport: https://www.screencast.com/t/XDQJedlggSB. There, you can see your mobile version and edit or adjust the elements to look better.

2. Mobile pages: https://tagdiv.com/newspaper-10-3-7-update-brings-customizable-and-fast-mobile-pages

3. Mobile theme plugin: The Mobile Theme is a performance-optimized theme included in the main Newspaper theme that only loads on mobile devices. It comes with its own templates and designs for pages, posts, categories, etc., so your current templates from the desktop theme will get converted to the mobile theme layout. Please see https://forum.tagdiv.com/the-mobile-theme/ and https://forum.tagdiv.com/mobile-theme-introduction/ for more information.

A full explanation is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SpGkOnJeNZY

If you need to use the mobile version 1 or 2, then you need to disable the Mobile Theme plugin.

Thank you!

I don’t have screenshot or video to post because i’m searching for a solution i can’t use for the moment.
Question is simple : how to use newspaper mobile theme with “amp for wp” plugin ?
Only the paid version of this plugin brings YOUR theme available Please see by yourself : https://ampforwp.com/themes/).
But with the free version, it’s possible to create custom templates.
So… what do we need to update in mobile theme code in order to be recognized by “amp for wp” as a template ?
I tried to put the mobile theme folder in /wp-content/plugins/accelerated-mobile-pages/templates/design-manager but it’s note recognized

Hi, i know we need to use mobile theme with classic amp plugin but settings don’t permit to use ads placement as we like.
I mean, specific ads placement are possible for mobile theme OR amp theme but not AND. And auto ads for amp doesn’t interest me.
So, the thing is with “amp for wp” paid version, there is the newspaper theme available. And it looks like yours, this is your theme.
As i don’t need the paid version, i suppose we can convert actual mobile theme, upload it in the correct folder of amp for wp theme and use it. But apparently it needs some changes because it’s not recognized.

They have a page about how to make a custom theme for amp for wp so i know it’s possible :
https://ampforwp.com/create-a-custom-amp-theme-for-wordpress/

Can you help please ?

Hello Andy!

I suggest using flex blocks instead of a big grid to arrange them as you like. By setting the post ID, you can permanently exclude a post from appearing or allow only one post in the entire block to appear.https://forum.tagdiv.com/flex-block-settings-guide/
For example, check the Chained News demo, and there you can see a lot of flex block 1 arrangements: https://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper_chained_news_pro/

Thank you!

After one of the recent Newspaper updates, the font in several locations in not showing up as I’ve specified in TagDiv composer. I’ve checked each of the problematic areas in TagDiv and the fonts are set as Oswald. In the TagDiv editor, they appear as Oswald. But on the live site, the fonts seem to be the default font. Oddly, when I inspect font on the live site, the Inspector says it should be Oswald.

Here are a few pages that show this error.

https://www.meriwethersociety.org/membership/ — the top navigation and sub-navigation items are supposed to be Oswald. The two sentences under Membership are supposed to be Oswald.

https://www.meriwethersociety.org/ — The text on the 4 buttons of Membership, Reunions, Resources, Store is supposed to be Oswald.

Footer of any page — Virtually all the text in the footer (except for the text in blue & italic) is supposed to be Oswald.

In my Theme Panel settings, the option to load Google fonts is On. Also in Theme Panel > Theme Fonts > Font Settings, all the settings are set as Default Font.

I have cleared cache multiple times.

http://www.doogle.com
Hopefully this is easy but I spent a couple hours trying.
2 questions below:
Question 1: The main page shows a grid of 5 photos (one large, 4 small). If I go into TagDiv editor I want to change them. After ‘fiddling’ they seem to be in the ‘Big Grid Flex 2’ area. I’ve used this article: https://forum.tagdiv.com/big-grid-flex-settings/
– But I can’t change the photos in the grid, order them or update them (for example if I do a new post – see below)
Question 2:
– If I write a post (for example: “Making great cheese at home”) I’d like to add the a photo so it appears in either the grid (see question 1) or when I select an article it appears at the top of the page. For example, https://doogle.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=929&action=edit
. . . if I go in and edit a post then I only get the text from the post and not the image that appears in the published article.
Thanks

Hi, I am facing the same problem (possibly caused by switching from ‘mobile’ to ‘AMP’ and back again?). The background of the mobile theme (www.deventervoetbal.nl) is grey now where it was white. Any suggestion how to set it back to white again please?

Hello,

Excuse me, but I missed that you mentioned above that you use auto ads. This depends on the ads, not the theme, for example now are displayed https://i.imgur.com/dhiDojE.png
The auto ads are displayed where they fit correctly and do not consider where they are set https://support.google.com/adsense/answer/9261805?hl=en

Thank you!
