No images (apart from the logo in the header and footer) are visible on mobile devices.
Issue occurs with both iOS and android mobile phones.
Images display normally on Desktops and Tablets.

Actions so far
Deactivated all non-tagdiv plugins except Visual Composer.
Installed and ran the Regenerate Thumbnails plugin.
Installed W3 Total Cache and ran ’empty all caches’ and ‘purge CDN completely’.
Activated previous theme ‘Themify Magazine’ and checked mobile view – working normally
Reactivated Newsmag theme and checked mobile view – all images (apart from the logo in the header and footer not appearing

About 40% of our traffic is on mobile devices other than tablets so this is a serious and urgent issue for us

I am also having the same issue. Images showing on desktop but not on mobile. I am not running a cache and I have deactivated all non-tagdiv plugins. The images were displaying normally until about 14 hours ago and no new plugins have been installed.

For tech heads … by massively hacked … we are

– changing wp-content to /assets/
– changing author slug to profile
– removing /category/ slug
– hacked theme name and dependencies to our local branding
– local loading vs CDN of font awesome and jquery for optimzation/opcache in prep for https/2 update to server
– highly compressed html, js, css
– highly optimized wp-config.php file
– if single/ head removal of js/css only intended for home page
– locked down php disabling in core WP folders for security
– complete removal of all comment code
– complete removal of all XML-RPC code
– complete rewrite of local default search to load from paid Google Search Engine (GSE), including from URL search string and default WP search box
– local loading of author/client avatar, captured from gravatar but hosted locally and cached
– custom “more posts from author” function and placement
– custom breadcrumbs since our CMS is in sub-dir, main static site one level up for actual ‘home’
– custom author box to print as plug into after post meta to appear on AMP version of page including link to author/client site and top four socials (rel=nofollow and target blank)
– custom data fields with ACF5 Pro
– custom hook to our YOURLS install to pull in custom shortcode, drop into post meta, for sharing
– custom local functions, CSS, for social sharing buttons that grab YOURLS shortcode
– (and like etcetera)

Make sure your thumbnails are all as compressed as possible; change default compression level in wp-config.php or use a plugin. All the little images on home page should be very compressed as they are just visual placeholders. Make sure things like logo is very compressed also (e.g., if it’s only 4 colors, use .png vs .jpg, etc.).

Make sure you have gzip/deflate running as this compresses page for web browser automatically.

ADVANCED:

For advanced uses, consider server side compression like mod_pagespeed, or a caching plugin that might also remove blank spaces, comments, to reduce the file size of the HTML. For super advanced use, consider web host that runs both http/2 and mod_pagespeed (MPS can remove all comments, double spaces, tabs/indents, comments, and other elements that pad the page on the fly, then cache it via server side caching like opcache).

I gave the latest version of WordPress and occured the error after updating to the latest version.
BW, I tried clearing caches and still the same error.

There was a bug in last version of WordPress which broke page numbers, unrelated to any theme.

If you have not updated your version of WordPress to the latest version, that might be good first step and then clear all site caching / CDN content cache after update of WP.

Might not be your issue, but is is *the* problem that prior version of WP introduced, and was fixed a month later with the current version of WP.

Thanks for the comments, I have tried this tool to regenerate the images and clear all caches.
after that, all the old images are getting in correct size finally, but.. the bad news is all the new add images still not cropped into correct thumbs size, i can regenerate it manually for the new images ever time after a new post published . that’s painful works for me,, how can i fix this? thank you so much.

P.S Newsmag version is the latest one V.2.3.5

Did you add the explicit link to your https website in your wp-config.php file ?

*(we use www – you might not be; but that has to be consistent too – either all www or no www; not both)

And “obviously” resave your permalinks from wp admin panel after you add that. Clear cache. Clear transients!

I’m using Apache, so if you’re using something else not sure my htaccess code will help, but here is what we use for global https redirect:

What helps immensely is
a) make sure you change your site URL to https in the WP site setting (obviosuly)
b) add an explicit setting for the URL in the wp-config.php file for https (path to site)
c) use wp-optimize to clear all “transients” and clear all other cache
d) make sure you set up a site-wide 301 wildcard redirect in your htaccess so any request for http actually loads https version for “anything”

Any theme stuff should “pick up” the https setting if you put it into the wp-config.php file. (In theory.)

We did this in Nov 2014 and went through some of the same issues.

I meant to say I cleared cache and disabled all plugins but visual composer….

I deactivated all plugins cleared cache but VC and still featured images not showing. Other ideas?
