Hi,

Have you checked for a plugin conflict? Please deactivate ALL plugins except tagDiv ones; also, if you are using a child theme or cache plugin, deactivate them, clear all cache, and try again.

Thank you!

Hello Bettina,

Oh, what a pity. From what version number can’t do it?

First I upload the main theme and the child theme.

Once everything is set up, I upload the modified themes (theme folders names, screenshots, edit css).

I have another installation in which I was able to do it. It’s true that it hasn’t been updated for a while (10.3.6.1).

If I cannot change the names, I am no longer interested. I will use another theme.

Regards.
Sebe.

Hello,

I always change child and theme name when I deploy a new site. I do not want to show what theme I’m using 🙂

I’ve changed the theme folders names, screenshots, edit css… and activate it but the whole website breaks, front end and backend.

Is there a way to fix it?

Update: Installed version 12 into a staging copy of the site, it replaced version 8. Site is giving a blank home page with:

PHP Notice: Undefined index: post in /nas/content/live/[redacted]/wp-content/themes/Newspaper-child/functions.php on line 924, referer: https://[redacted]/

If I could get a copy of Version 8.7.2, that would potentially fix the security hole without requiring new work on this site. Thank you!

Hi,

Do you have a child theme? Or what do you want to do?
To create a child theme, please check this guide https://forum.tagdiv.com/the-child-theme-support-tutorial/

We have no child theme, nor any CSS code added. The plugins with 12.6.1 were updated, but threw the whole site out of whack.

We updated and installed all the plugins related to 12.6.1, but when it wrecked our site, I downgraded again and fixed the mistakes caused by the update.

I am willing to give you credentials to login and sort out the problem, otherwise we will be looking for a new theme that doesn’t continuously cause problems for us.

Hi,

This is the issue: Newspaper Template is missing. Standalone themes need to have a templates/index.html or index.php template file. Child themes need to have a Template header in the style.css stylesheet. Please help

Bettina

Hello!

It shouldn’t be like that. Did you have some CSS codes or something custom in a child theme? Make sure that you have all the plugins installed and activated, as well as up-to-date.

Thank you!

Hi,

When you update, please use the main theme, not the child theme. I recommend that you update the theme manually https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/ via FTP/cPanel/File Manager, also if possible disable extra plugins during the theme update to avoid any problems that may arise and make sure that you have activated the tagDiv Standard pack plugin to keep the website’s look. You can try to update the theme on a staging website.
After you update the theme, you need to update the theme plugins too.
In the worst cases, the settings in the theme panel may be lost (there have been isolated cases), in these cases, after the theme plugins that were previously used are activated, you will have to use a backup for the theme panel -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/import-export-theme-settings/

Thank you!

I have deactivated mobile theme and AMP pages for testing, now.

However, the links to the 404 pages are still there. After investigating the source code for the desktop version of the theme, I have found following section:

Here, these problematic links are inserted in the header section. However, the links are not visible (i.e. hidden) on the rendered web pages and I cannot find them in the tagdiv composer templates.

Do you have a clue how to remove them and why/how they are inserted?

Hello,

In most cases, this problem occurs because you have the latest version of WordPress with an older version of the theme.
Please use the last version of WordPress 6.3.2 with the last theme version Newspaper 12.6.1 (if you have a theme version older, then tagDiv Composer does not work) and check to see if the problem persists.
If you need to make an update, before please make a full backup to all files and the database, in case something goes wrong. => https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/
Here you can find information about the changes that have occurred in each update over time https://tagdiv.com/newspaper/
In the worst cases, the settings in the theme panel may be lost (there have been isolated cases), in these cases, after the theme plugins that were previously used are activated, you will have to use a backup for the theme panel -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/import-export-theme-settings/
Also, make sure that all the settings are like in our requirements, please follow the guide carefully: https://forum.tagdiv.com/requirements-for-newspaper/
and please increase all requirements that are lower, and follow all steps.
Also, if the problem persists please check if you do not have a plugin conflict, please deactivate ALL plugins except tagDiv plugins, also if you are using a child theme or cache plugin, deactivate them, clear all cache (also from your browser) and try again.

Let me know the results!

Thank you!

Hi,
You can try this custom css:
.tdb_header_menu .tdb-menu>li:last-child>a .tdb-menu-item-text {
text-transform: initial;
}

The code needs to be set in the theme panel – https://i.imgur.com/YxRIZzt.png
If is not apply for you, please provide a link to the website and I will adjust the code.
Thank you!

Hi,

don’t get me wrong, but is it best practice in your company to blame the customer or treat him like a child? I am responsible for maintenance, not for editing the content. I didn’t touch the template. I would know, wouldn’t I? Even if I wanted to, I wouldn’t know how to do it, since I don’t use this theme on any other site.

I will gladly check the database entries on the staging server and look for any changes that were made, if you tell me where to find the template in the database. I couldn’t find anything for the post id of the template.

Hi Sudhin,
To replace the live search with google search the best solution is to remove it the one from the theme using tagDiv Composer and use an embed code to set the google search. Editing the theme files are not an option because the files for the live search can not be set in a child theme and will be lost when the theme will be updated.
To create a goggle search you can use this guide: How Do I Add a Custom Google Search to My Website?
To add the code in our theme use a cloud header and set with tagDiv Composer the custom code in a column text or text with title – https://imgur.com/xn721m6 -> https://imgur.com/D475ZN0
I hope this will help you!

Hi,
Unfortunately, for the moment our theme do not have a system to set a custom font stack (I think that you can use a child theme and in style.css file to set a custom font stack, but you’ll also need to add those fonts in the theme). For the moment, in our theme you can set only custom fonts that can be set on elements as global or individual – https://forum.tagdiv.com/font-customization/
Thank you!

I have worked on the https://melvillemums.com.au/ site
1. First I have created a staging site for the live site
URL : https://staging5.melvillemums.com.au/
== Then I have noticed that there is already child theme was available.
== Then I have uploaded updated theme file, and active that theme.
== I lost some functionality and design.
== After that I have manually checked all the files of updated theme and old theme.
== I did not find any custom code which applied in existing theme.
== I noticed that the updated theme functionality changed itself in updated version by theme provider.
== Then I have again restored backup and removed the child theme and created child theme manually.
== Then updated the parent theme, but same issue occurred.
== After that I have found doc related to updated “Newspaper” theme
== https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/
== I have followed the steps as per provided support doc.
== But still facing same issue.

Hi Calin,

I figured out a workaround, furthering through the initial instructions from HeritageLab. This workaround means I don’t need to install the advanced fields plug-in.

In the custom field value box, I simply include:
(<)img src=”” alt=”” width=”20″ height=”20″ border-radius=”50%”(>) Medically Reviewed by (<)a href=””(>)(<)b(>)(name)(<)/b(>)(<)/a(>), (title)

You can see the example here: https://rareparenting.com/what-is-occupational-therapy-for-children/

The only problem is that the border radius isn’t working. Could you let me know how to update this so it works?

Also, the alignment of the custom field also doesn’t work, within the TagDiv designer. It horizontally aligns but the vertical alignment doesn’t work. Any ideas about this?

Overall, this does mean a lot of work per-post, so it would be great if the theme can be updated to accommodate guest authors, multiple authors, and two rows.

Thanks!

Hello,

I see that you have a child theme, if you can use the main theme and check if the problem persists; maybe you have a code that deactivate the theme.

Thank you!
