Hi,

Please make update to the theme to the version 9.5 -> https://tagdiv.com/whats-new-in-newspaper-theme-9-5-update/

You can try to do the update manually, go to themeforest -> https://themeforest.net/item/newspaper/5489609?s_rank=1 , login with your credentials and get the theme with all files.
How to update the theme -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/
If you have child theme please deactivate it until you update/install the theme.
We recommend to be made via FTP.
Is possible that Envato Market API to have some delays on available updates.

Thank you for your understanding!

Ahhhh, this is frustrating. Not only does this appear to blow out child themes, it also is not following best practices in keeping track of deprecated functions…

@ncalex
the wording on your response is unclear. Do you suggest FTP is better than using Envato plugin?

Hi,

This update comes with the opportunity to build your own header, something that was not possible until now, so if you have in child theme changes make for header is possible that those now longer to work, that is way you’ll need to deactivate the child theme and after that try to install the theme.
What you can do is to change the header in child theme ( the old one with the new one).

Also if you make the theme update via FPT you’ll not lose the settings make in theme panel, will be lose only the changes made in theme files ( this is happen if you are using the envato plugin too ).

Thank you for your understanding!

Hi,

@sathyavcs
This is not possible unfortunately, the mobile theme cannot be modified in a child theme. So modifications to it’s files can only be done directly.

Thanks

Hi,

Please desirable the view count and and comment count from Newspaper>Theme panel>Post settings>Post and Custom Post Type -> https://www.screencast.com/t/l3ZSllC89f8
After that clear all cache and those will be hide for posts.
For author page you need to use a cloud template from tagDiv Cloud Library or us a custom css
-> https://www.screencast.com/t/azp5sVXF3Uv
.author .td-author-counters span:last-child {
display:none;
}

Set the css in Newspaper>Theme panel>Custom code Custom css

Thank you!

Hi,

If I understand correctly this is what you need -> https://www.screencast.com/t/fF5se875a
if is so then all you need to do is to set this custom code in Newspaper>Theme panel>Advance css > phones
.td-mobile-content .menu-item-has-children a {
width: 60%;
}

Also feel free to change the number percent after your needs!
-> https://www.screencast.com/t/iaw5kLJMSmsx
Also if you are using mobile theme please set the custom css in mobile theme.

Thank you.

@reatlat I had it updated and I think it caused the issue. I am using a child theme. Don’t really see any real benefit of updating to the latest version anyway as it seems to add more clutter such as extra demo themes.

Does 9.5 offer speed improvements?

Going to skip this version.

Thanks 😀

I see that the newspaper-child theme in Newspaper 9.5 /code folder is named as version 7.

Can you confirm that this is OK to use with Version 9.5?

I just tried to create a new page on Newspaper 9 and I received the following error message.

‘The link has expired. Please try again’

I had just created a child theme using the ‘Child Theme Configurator’ plugin – not sure if that is the reason.

I wish there was a way to allow me to add this modified file to my child theme. When I do, it doesn’t work. The only way it works is by modifying the file in the main theme which means I am going to have to remember to do this each time I update Newspaper. How about adding the option to toggle On/Off social networks for authors in the theme panel Social Networks tab? Just put the switches to the left of each network name.

Hi,

Did you follow the steeps from above? that error is from child theme, is not compatible with the new version of newspaper.

I can’t say if that is an replace or not, because I do not know what version of theme did you have before update, but this is caused by the settings from child theme.

If there is still a problem, you can send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide admin login, as well as cPanel or FTP if possible. We will take a look. Include a link to this topic in the email.

Hello,

This could be a plugin conflict so please disable all plugins except the page builder, clear cache and reset cdn files if you use it. Please also check any custom code you might have added to the theme panel or the theme files. If you use a child theme, please switch to the main theme to make sure it does not affect the proper functionality of the theme.

Thank you!

Hi,

Please provide some more details with what you have in child theme… also you can make a backup to the current child, and replace it with the child that cams with the newspaper v9.5

Thank you!

I solved the problem!
The reason was my newspaper child-theme and the header.php in this theme. I had to update the header.php of my child theme, too
