You recently added the very valuable “Duplicate” option to the edit options available on the WordPress dashboard Page options – seen when you hover the cursor over a page title in the Page listing :-
Edit with TagDiv Composer | Edit | Quick Edit | Bin | Preview | Duplicate
However, I would like to remove this option, as I use Yoast Duplicate Post. Can this be safely done, if only by using my child theme functions.php or similar?
(The reason is due to the greater number of duplicate options available in the Yeost plugin, most importantly, preserving the parent-child relationship and adding a prefix to the title to indicate it is a duplicate.)
Thanks!
Hello @zelda!
A more elegant method is to override the child theme. You need to take all the code of the flex block 2 from 4386 to 6268 lines, make the changes, and change the word “add” to “update”: https://prnt.sc/sbzdlfUovced
Thank you!
Is there any way through the Theme Panel or via functions() in child theme to force a specific Post Template to be used when a post is in a Category?
If this is not possible, is there a way I can set the Post Template at the time I create the Post through the wordpress API? (https://developer.wordpress.org/rest-api/reference/posts/#create-a-post)
Thanks!
Hello @poldino!
If you want to modify the file of the flex block 1, then you can integrate it in a child theme. If you want to change the link of the read more button: https://prnt.sc/51ACEAF76kD5, then all your posts will have the same link. If you need it differently, then this will require custom work which is not covered by the support team.
Thank you!
Hi,
That will indeed require modifications in the respective file, there’s no way around it. It would have been useful in this case if the file was supported by the child theme, but it is not unfortunately. So the modification has to be made in the main file in the composer. Sorry for this inconvenience.
Or maybe our developer team can think of a way to do it, a more update proof way, as a custom solution for your website. If you are interested, you can always submit a request here https://tagdiv.com/submit-a-request/ even if just to know if it can be done or not, or what it will take to do.
Thank you!
Hi,
The parent theme isn’t actually deactivated when activating a child theme, or else nothing would work anymore. The child theme will appear as active in the WordPress themes panel, but in fact both the parent theme and the child theme are active.
If you want to use a child theme, simply activate it and use it for the intended purpose. Don’t worry, the parent theme is also active. Please try it.
Thank you!
Hi! please check this link: https://imgur.com/FKdmMZe
I activated the child theme in my dashboard, I also made changes to the child theme.
But I guess, when I activate the child theme, the parent theme gets automatically deactivated. I activated the parent theme again, but the changes I made in the child theme got overwritten. (you can check the above image for reference)
How to keep the parent theme activated as well as how to enable the child theme?
Please send me the graphical example to do the same.
Hi,
The module files can be customized in a child theme, but files from the wp_booster folder cannot be unfortunately.
If you have to modify the td_module_single_base file, it will have to be done in the main composer file directly.
If I may ask, what modifications are you planning to do? Maybe there are other ways of doing it, perhaps without making modifications to the files. Let me know.
Thank you!
Greetings .
I have modified the following files
td-composer/legacy/common/wp_booster/td_module_single_base.php
td-composer/legacy/Newspaper/includes/modules/td_module_flex_1.php
and am trying to put it in the child theme. but it does not work . Could you help me?
Hi,
The parent theme need to be installed to, but the child theme need to be enable, so the settings made in the child theme will apply on the website and the settings will no be lost hen the main theme will be update.
Thank you!
hi!! calin I have installed the child theme into my wordpress. By installing it, will my parent theme be affected or not?
Hi,
Once that you download the package with all files you’ll need to unzip it and navigate inside it, there you’ll see a folder /code/ inside it is a folder called Newspaper-child, zip that folder and install it like a normal theme, then just enable it.
Here is a guide that can help you: https://www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-guide/how-to-install-a-wordpress-child-theme/
Thank you!
how to enable the child theme? I am not able to find it.
Hi,
If you are using the child theme (child theme must be enabled) and you set the function in the functions.php file from the child theme, then this should be apply.
Thanks,
Hi,
The child theme is already available in the /code/ folder in the package that you downloaded from Themeforest. It includes the style.css and functions.php files by default.
Thank you!
How to use child theme? where it is located?
Hello,
My suggestion is to try first the theme option for this -> https://i.imgur.com/8iB5qME.png -> https://i.imgur.com/4QNFQk8.png
Also, if that code need to be set in functions.php, the please use a child theme and set that code in the functions.php from the child theme.
Thank you!
Hi,
This situation can be create by the the child theme, please set the parent theme and see if the problem persist.
Also, this problem can be resolve by installing the classic widget plugin.
I hope this will help you!
Thank you!
Hello,
You can find the folder of the child theme in this path => Newspaper-tf\code\Newspaper-child also, this is a guide that can help you to create a child theme https://forum.tagdiv.com/the-child-theme-support-tutorial/
Hope this helps you!
Thank you!
Hello,
After I installed the parent theme, I did not notice that the child theme was installed automatically in the theme’s page.
How can we fix that?
Thank you
Hi Satyajit,
If you have custom functions then you can set theme in the child theme on functions.php also the css can be set in the style.css (the css code can be also set in the theme panel in custom css section).
I hope this will help you!
Thank you!
Hi,
I am Satyajit, I am running a Blog website using Premium Newspaper Theme. I would like to know, how to add my custom code & style to my website using Child Theme of Newspaper.
Thanks in advance .
Satyajit.
Hello. Hope you are doing well.
On okobserver.org, Error is: Your page is not using font-display rule when loading the following web fonts.
Font URL
https://fonts.gstatic.com/s/roboto/v18/KFOmCnqEu92Fr1Mu4mxKKTU1Kg.woff2
https://fonts.gstatic.com/s/roboto/v18/KFOlCnqEu92Fr1MmEU9fBBc4AMP6lQ.woff2
Suggestion is to use plugin ‘Swap Google Fonts Display’ to ensure text remains visible during webfont load.
Is this something TagDiv would recommend or is there another option to use with the Newspaper theme?
Additionally, we’re told the following needs improvement in order to reduce our extremely slow response time:
Status
Your DOM has 1,171 elements in total.
Total DOM Nodes 1171
Maximum DOM Depth 24
Maximum Child Elements 43
How to fix
The score depends solely on the total number of nodes found on the page. The median is 1400 nodes; however, for a perfect score, your DOM’s total nodes should be lower than 275. Try the following to improve your score:
Most of the time, your theme is responsible for adding redundant DOM nodes to your site. Activate the default TwentyNinteen theme, and compare the performance score. If the score improves, that means your current theme is the culprit, and you should either use another efficiently coded theme or work with the developer to see what changes can be made.
Is this addressable?
Thanks so much!
Bob
Hello,
Please check this article https://webhostinghero.org/how-to-exclude-categories-from-search-in-wordpress/ -> wp-content/plugins/td-composer/legacy/Newspaper/functions.php
You can build a child theme and implement this, so it won’t get overwritten by the updates.
Thank you for understanding!
Hi,
Yes, the section from custom css from theme panel can be used.
Also, if you want to edit the style file, you can use the css in the child theme in style.css file, in this way the code will not be lost and you can adjust it after your needs -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/newsmag-child-theme-support/
Thank you!
