can i ask whether the screenshots are taken from an emulator or an actual tablet, and if a tablet what os was it using?
i have tried it on two different android versions, and an older ios, from 10″ to 7″, all showing the mobile theme.
i actually turned all caching off. removed every plug in that was doing any ‘speed’ or ‘optimisation job on my website. not just for this, but in several areas of development there was a nagging doubt caching could be the problem. i even followed steps to check for cache left overs (and actually found w3 traces from ages ago before i moved to super on theme advice). having removed all of that, and being 100% cache free, i turned off cloudflare and purged everything.
so one thing i can be pretty sure of is cache is not behind the issue.
i have started turning one or two optimisation bits on again. cautiously, checking everything each time an option is flicked.
it has been a useful exercise. a few upgrade issues have resolved themselves, though that may be more to do with your recommendation of switching to php 5.6. than the absence of caching – but having caching out of the way for a development month still seems to make sense.
there are just two issues that remain, and have remained throughout, this tablet displaying mobile theme, and corruption caused by full width blocks (that one i can live with for now)
what is the methodology of the mobile theme in what it serves itself to? is it screen size, resolution, some trigger in the device that says ‘i am a tablet or i am a phone’? might help narrow it down if i can get some more examples.

Images are optimised before they have been uploaded. Google says the biggest is 21kb – small.
Yes, I have already checked other speed guides and done things like going through Cloudflare. I have tested other heavy themes on this same hosting and they work fine. It is just your Newspaper theme.

Don’t need to minify your scripts if you’re using pagespeed module. Disable minification and Rocket Loader from CloudFlare end.
Rocket loader blocks the Javascript by deferring them.

I was trying to optimize my site by deactivating some plugins, checking errors, setting CloudFare and W3 Total Cache etc. But when I was done (and purged the cache) I noticed that the mobile theme was all over the desktop. So I deactivated, waited, purged and activated (purging again).
Now the mobile theme is not working.
All I see is the responsive desktop theme on mobile — which is now bad at all, but for Google/SEO, I need a mobile theme to load faster.

I’ve seen many people here stating they are using the rocket-loader feature from Cloudflare to boost their speed. I’d like to ask how come this works for them?
Is anything needed on the server side to be active? Any tweaks before activating it?
Every time I try activating it, the entire website crashes. By crash, I mean the entire styling and responsiveness. Even the search function becomes un-usable.
Same thing happens when Cloudflare activated their non-free AMP plugin. The entire website just crashes and becomes un-usable.

So, we just installed:
* tagDiv Speed Booster
* Remove Query Strings From Static Resource
* Imagify
And the load is sightly better
May I have your opinion about also use some extra plugins like:

When testing teh pagespeed, it is better to do it without having google ads and only essential plugins activated. Some plugins can have a negative impact regarding page speed.

Unfortunately page speed is a very personal issue and it depends on lots of things starting from the host you use all the way down to the content on your site.
If you use lots of complex elements, you need a more powerful host to handle the ajax calls. We cannot help in that decision though. Please use gtmetrix as well as google page speed insight and follow their advice for page speed optimization.

I have eliminated the issue down to strangely enough, the “Newspaper” theme.
I can enable td_composer with standard wp theme, but it seems to have this redirect issue when logging into dashboard or login page only when “Newspaper” theme is installed.
Again, all plugins disabled using default .htaccess and wp-config.php files.
I’m running on a dedicated server with cPanel and CloudLinux installed. All systems go in Newspaper’s System Status in theme panel.
Question… could there have a been a theme update in the past 10 months that would have made a database change? I deleted entire “Newspaper” directory and re-uploaded new folder with version 8.
I have nothing else to eliminate. Or do I? Maybe I can reupload a fresh wordpress install.
What should I do?

You’d need to search/replace your content in PHPmyAdmin to replace old instances of http to https for your images placed inside of post meta (lots of tutorials online for moving to https from http in WordPress).
Once you change your base site URL to https in WP, the theme picks up from that for any new posts (you would need to manually change any logo head/footer/favicon stuff in theme panel, obviously).
I don’t work here; but we moved to https everywhere in 2014, 2015 and 2016 for all our sites, so went through the same thing.

After reading all the guide/tutorial on the forum about performance settings for Newspaper theme I decided to switch to W3 Total Cache.
Indeed i do not understand why WP Super Cache is recommended as it’s clearly inferior. I did a comparison between super cache / and w3 total cache with GTMetrix + Google Speed Insight and Pingdom. The clear winner is W3 Total Cache. One comment i have is do not use a CDN like cloudflare ! This is seriously slowing down your sites. I was struggling to get fast TTFB and as soon as i delete cloudflare my full loading time went to 2.2 seconds compared to 8 seconds before average.
Cloudflare is good if your host is really bad but in this case you better change it…
About my question, seems i installed w3 total cache i am having an issue with mobile menu of my site anonymster.com, when you open the menu on mobile and click on “review” the page doesnt load. Would you have an idea how to fix it ?

So, I’m taking a look at your demo sites and they seem to have pagination for the tags page; however, when I visit my site I do not see the pagination. I’m using version 7 of the theme. I know that pagination is built in because I can go to /page/2 of that tag and it will show up.
But I cannot get the numbers to show like you have on your demo sites:
