Hi, I can acheive the look I’m after for my page using the visual composer (a 3 column one, already available as an option) however I would like to change the widths of these 3 columns. How would I go about this?
Update: I can get the result I need using one of the other visual composer 3 column layout options, however it’s not one of the ‘blue’ ones.

I had an very old version, so I began to rebuild the main pages. But in this new version I can’t use visual composer. I can click the icon of it. I try to select an element. But nothing happens. I can’t use colomns etc…

Please check your homepage as your sidebar on your home page is probably created in visual composer on a split row.
There are 2 ways of having a sidebar on a page at the moment. There is a sidebar you can add from the widgets area or a sidebar you create yourself on the page using a split row in visual composer. Here is an example and probably what you have on your site as well: http://screencast.com/t/RL2eJKMre

@Msegura909 and @Colourofsunshine the issues are not caused because of Visual Composer license. The plugin comes bundled with the theme and there is no need a license key for it. We always include in theme’s patch the latest version of Visual Composer which currently is V 4.11.2.
Note that older version of Visual Composer are not compatible with latest version of WordPress, that’s why the issue occurs. To make sure that the theme and plugin works fine we recommend to use the latest versions available, for the theme is V 7.4 and for plugin is 4.11.2. @Msegura909 we didn’t tested V 4.11.2 of VC with V 6.5 of Newspaper and we can’t guarantee that it will work fine with it. However you can try to update only the plugin and check how it goes.

Please keep in mind that our mobile version has a default behaviour which displays on the front page the following elements, like this -> at the top will be displayed a Big Grid will show 3 posts from Featured Category, then will be displayed a text will be added from Mobile editor in Visual Composer and at the bottom of the page will load the latest articles module. Please notice that the Mobile Theme do not recognise the Visual Composer shortcode. This is our new concept in the theme and this plugin has been designed to be very fast than the responsive mobile mode and that’s why it has these restrictions. So, if you are unhappy with our mobile theme, you simply disable the mobile plugin and the theme will be automatically switched to the general responsive mobile mode.

Facebook does not have anything to do with it as the social counter has multiple social networks to work with besides Facebook. The plugin should show up in visual composer and in the widgets area. if yours does not, please disable all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files if you use it.

It will affect anywhere a module is present. Blocks are made of one or more modules. a post has no modules as we do not recommend using visual composer on posts, but on categories and search pages and author pages and everywhere there are modules involved as all module titles are affected by that function.

We didn’t received such reports so far and we’re not aware what could cause this issue. Try to deactivate all plugins, clear all caches then test the site again. You can also test this with a default wp-theme and check how it goes.
Current Version of Visual Composer is 4.11.2 and can be found in theme’s patch which is now available on themeforest. Just to add following my own research (Im non tech) …..
I notice my “WPBakery Visual Composer” plugin needs updating, it has been like that for a while.
Could this be the reason why people who have contacted me stating the forms only site dont work & that I should go ahead & update ? (The problem seems to be not being able to enter email & name in the box drop downs on the forms….seems to happen in Firefox & possibly safari only….I get forms sent form most people but some, seemingly on certain browsers dont get through)
I know it sounds obvious to update the plugin but Ive dont that before on an old site, it didn’t take & caused me a very long night so Im v cautious)
Any pointers from anyone most appreciated…Im losing enquiries from potential customers & simply want my contact form 7 performing as it should.

I am an enthusiastic user of Newspaper since april. I had a optimized child theme with few and unimportant changes.
It was performing really well, scoring 86-90 on Google Speed Test with no critical problem.
Yesterday I had the awful idea to update it using the ThemeForest updating plugin.
I updated the theme to 7.4 with all the plugins, but my speed terribly dropped. Now no matter how hard I try to work on plugins, cache and other optimization tools, results are poor. Google Speed Test also started to warn about image dimension (all adv not under my control), a warning never showed before.
Not only: visual composer added some information on my homepage I didn’t want to show (like author and comments) and made the Homepage extremely slow.
What happened?
I did nothing technical, just updating to a new version using official tools.
What can I do?

I tried disabling all the plugins expect js composer, cleared the cache but still the issue persisted.
So some article the background is not coming, but the sidebar is still missing.
Let me know how to get this fixed.

I am having similar issues. I cannot save any changes to the standard block in Visual Composer. I purchased the VC licence separately thinking it may help the issue however it persisted. I wrote to the VC authors who said that the problem was “The issue is because there is a Visual Composer related code present in your theme added by the theme author. You will have to get rid of it. I would advise you to do so with the help of theme author, otherwise you might loose the extra elements added by him. Once this is done, you can install the standalone plugin and it will work fine.”
SO.. that is what I’m asking for help with. I originally submitted an inquiry about this issue months ago however it was never resolved, hence I went directly to VC to try to find a resolution.
Would be great if you can contact me about getting VC working ASAP.

Well, make backup and then try deleting old visual composer plugin, and install the current version from the all files download and see if it works for you.
Note that “stopped working” means you can’t edit anything or make new items with VC.
If that is not what you meant, perhaps reword that?
note if you’re asking about ‘activation’ — you don’t need to ‘activate’ the plugin with Bakery folks to use it, as version included with theme is ‘bundled version.’
Try installing latest version from theme download in /plugins/ folder; try clearing cache, resave permalinks, and delete transients with wp-optimize plugin.

I currently have ver. 4.6.2 – I haven’t activated Newspaper 7 yet because once I do my homepage and other plugins stop working.
Can the problem with visual composer be because I am not on the newest Newspaper them?
