Hi,
Please also try this without any plugins active, disable all of the and leave just theme’s Visual Composer plugin active and also make sure that you empty all caches.
If you still have this issues afterwards please provide your wp-admin login details via email at contact@tagdiv.com so we can gave a closer look at this and also provide more details about this.
Thanks
Hi,
The theme uses wordpress default comments system and the code used to display the comments number uses a default wordpress function – http://screencast.com/t/FPmiNK93jxrn
Unfortunately we didn’t do any tests with Discourse so i cannot say what may cause this, but you could check for errors in the browser console and/or disable all plugins except for Discourse and Visual Composer and see if the issue is still there.
Thank you, Emil G.

Hi,
I tested the codes above and it worked almost perfekt. But is it possible to show in the Big Grid only the content of an specific tag like “Top News”? Without Visual Composer.
Thanks!
Hi,
1. Could you please provide more specific details about the grids your refer to as I’ve checked your homepage but could not find anything wrong.
2. Please also try this without any plugins active, leave just theme’s Visual Composer and test again. Also check browser’s console for errors or notifications and let us know of what you find and please also remove the script which disable selection, right click on page so I can make a few tests.
Thanks
Hi,
Unfortunately we did not tested other alternative plugins with our theme. The Visual Composer plugin is tested and customize to work with our theme and unfortunately I cannot provide a solution for this.
We may release a light modified version of Visual Composer in the future, but it may take some time as we’re still in testing and looking for solutions.
Thanks!
Hi,
That code appear when you disable Visual Composer plugin because you used Visual Composer to add Big Grid on your homepage.
If you want to disable Visual Composer plugin please follow this topic and try to create something similar – https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/category-top-posts-style-in-main-blog-index/
Thanks!
Hi,
Please go to the Visual Composer settings and select to show all blocks and save changes – http://screencast.com/t/lRob46ZxA6 Let me know!
Thanks!
Hi,
since I don’t do anything with Visual Composer – how do I remove this plugin safely?
I deactivated it and it shows me this strange code: http://imageshack.com/a/img540/4325/fRkK8F.png
Thank you!
Hi,
I’m not sure what error you get, I also tested this and it works fine. Please disable all your plugins, leave just Visual Composer active and check if you still have this error.
Thanks!
I have a very simple homepage where I use the visual composer. I have to use version 4.3.5, because every higher version will use to much memory (+100 mb) and slow down the site.
Is it possible to use another page builder with less functions or anything else?
I just need such a design:
slider -> ad -> posts -> load more button
and a sidebar
Note you can’t easily edit any of the ‘pre-defined” sidebar areas in the visual composer; you need to create new row, e.g.,
[ x x ] [ x ]
then assign home page side bar to either std widget or custom widget for home page, which you create from one of the edit category page; then add desired items to the sidebar.
If you are talking about regular sidebars under appearance > widgets
then likely a plugin conflict?
With Visual Composer, for some reason the various blocks don’t show up under the normal insert tool. But, you can insert them using the template system. Why is this?
This is what I see:
https://app.box.com/s/pbww50h00snhblly3xwr3r3qxrw5aacw
Shouldn’t I see lots of theme specific options there? I can insert them under templates.
Hi tagDiv team,
I can’t seem to figure out why my frontpage has white space between visual composer elements/blocks as shown in the screenshots.
This seems to just happen on my main page of the website. problem does not occur in other pages on the site.
I’ve tried to recreate a new frontpage with new frontpage template.. but problem persists.

Thanks in advance!
Yep I tried older versions too, your staff kindly provided older versions. Yet it only seemed to work for a shot time then I realised it was a momentary thing.
And the code you provided worked like charm. You can see it at https://www.technopat.net It’s without visual composer or any of the plugins provided, just Newsmag.
Thank you,

Hi,
I have checked your site, I did refresh the page and you are right facebook comments doesn’t appear all the time. It seems that the plugin is not loaded(doesn’t return anything) – http://screencast.com/t/wEV0kWTk – http://screencast.com/t/FZqyVUmBK5j
Please check if you have this issue also if you disable all plugins, leave just Visual Composer and Facebook plugins active, also clear cache. Maybe there is a conflict with another plugin(s).
Also which facebook comments plugin do you use?
Thanks!
Hi,
@aleister – It’s not enough, the theme also comes with a function inside function.php which adds an offset for the categories on which the BigGrid is set – http://screencast.com/t/LGBxhzqx
You have to add a similar function which sets an offset for blog page, ex. – http://pastebin.com/zmBfyXAb
We may release a light modified version of Visual Composer in the future, but it may take some time and i cannot promise anything yet because we’re still in the testing and looking for solutions phase and i’m not sure if it will work.
Did you tried with older/newer versions of VC? (sorry if i don’t remember, we have a lot of clients and it’s hard to remember particular cases).
Thank you, Emil G.
Hi,
We recommend to update the theme via FTP(please make a backup of your current theme instalation) – https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme/
Also if you are using previous version(4.6.2) you can use the patch and copy only files that were updated and then update the plugins that come with the theme’s files(visual composer, social counter…) from /plugins folder .
Regarding the plugins and theme customization – the styling options you’ve set in the WordPress Theme Customize or options from Theme Panel – those options should not be affected by updating your theme, only if you have custom modification to the theme’s files you will need to re-add them as when you update the theme these files will be overwritten.
Thanks!
Hi,
Please try to disable all plugins(especially related posts plugin if you have ), leave just Visual Composer active, also clear cache and check if you still have this issue. If you don’t have this issue anymore please activate your plugins one by one and see which one cause this.
Thanks!
Hi,
I have checked this with your url and did not found any issues – http://screencast.com/t/34nVqcbvPX – http://screencast.com/t/TtY8AneU3i
Please check this only with Visual Composer active like Emil also suggested and save (or create another) post again and see if you still have this issue.
Thanks!
Hi,
I believed that you can use all elements using pagebuilder, not only elements of Visual Composer plugin.
I cannot tell you an exact date for Newspaper 5, but we intend to release it at the end of May.
Thanks!
I don’t know answer but would love to see more info/examples on how you’re using theme without the visual composer add-on. Very curious about this. 🙂
Hello,
I’m trying to replicate category style top posts grid in main blog page. I have found that this piece of code is responsible. So I copied it inside the container to index page and it shows perfectly.
Except for one feature, it duplicates posts in the blog page. I wonder if anyone know how can I manually disable duplicate posts in index.php in addition to this code.
<?php td_api_category_template::_helper_show_category_template() ?>
<?php td_api_category_top_posts_style::_helper_show_category_top_posts_style() ?>
Extra information:
Wordpress 4.21
Newsmag 1.7.1 (Thank you for the update)
We don’t use Visual Composer, tagdiv speed booster or any other plugin bundled with theme.
Why? Because I have tried every version but our CPU use still goes crazy and site is non responsive with these plugins enabled. I have waited for a month for updates, got them, nothing changed. I tried nearly every plugin combination, including disabling every other plugin and only enabling these plugins. It’s impossible, page load time goes to 45 seconds to no response. In my previous post I explained that this happens with hundreds of concurrent online users, so normal blogs need not be alarmed. Also it just doesn’t load normally in page edit screen (Checked for that option it’s correctly set) it gets loaded then dissapears out of page. Tried with different browsers too. But solving is not important anymore with high admin ajax use on server it’s done for me.
I like the themes quality coding, speed, style and options. But with in this situation I have to make this simple change because I can’t use VC for this. I would very much love to see some more styling options included for blog and posts section of theme options, instead of relying on VC.
So if you can point me in right direction I want to make this change works.
Best Regards,
Hi,
Please also try without using any plugins, leave just theme’s Visual Composer plugin active and test again, also make sure you empty all caches.
If it’s still not working please provide your admin login details via email (contact@tagdiv.com) so we can also check this and also provide a link to this tread.
Thanks
Hi,
A test on our demo shows that its mobile friendly and doesn’t have any issues: https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/mobile-friendly/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fdemo.tagdiv.com%2Fnewspaper%2F
According to google your site appears not mobile friendly due to multiple reasons: http://screencast.com/t/082WVTNfz
I suggest you test this first without using any plugins, leave just theme’s Visual Composer plugin and also make sure that you disable all html/js compression and test again.
Also make sure that you follow their instructions on how to unblock resources and let google bot view your page correctly, all this guides/tutorials are provided by google in your test page:
– https://developers.google.com/webmasters/mobile-sites/mobile-seo/common-mistakes/blocked-resources?hl=en-US&utm_source=MFT&utm_campaign=MFT&utm_medium=incoming-link
– https://developers.google.com/webmasters/mobile-sites/references/faq?hl=en-US&utm_source=MFT&utm_campaign=MFT&utm_medium=incoming-link#whats-the-difference-between-the-pagespeed-insights-ux-score-and-the-mobile-friendly-test-results
Please also note that the mobile friendly test is a new feature from google, the mobile friendly algorithm being released by Google on April 21st so we haven’t dealed enough with it to fully understand it. You can do it yourself though and go trough their guides/documentation to learn more about it: https://developers.google.com/webmasters/mobile-sites/get-started/?hl=en-US&utm_source=MFT&utm_medium=incoming-link&utm_campaign=MFT
We will release the new version 5 of newspaper theme which will be a major update with new design and lots of new features and we will make sure that we’ll test it with this new tool from google.
Thanks
Hi,
The Visual Composer plugin is not modified, just few element are disabled. All Visual Composer elements will be available from version 5.0 of Newspaper.
Thanks!
