Hello,
I am using Newspaper 7.5 update. I am trying to add a new custom link to td-demo-header-menu. But when I click on save & publish nothing happens. And I get a browser message “Do you want to leave this site? Changes you made may not be saved. How can I solve this issue?
Hello taknev420,
Please keep in mind that our theme has 8 smart list styles which can be own design. Please check our demo here -> http://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/smart-list-style-1/ and there you will see our smart lists. For more information about this feature, please consult here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/smart-lists/
Hope this helps!
Thanks for the message!
Hello,
For the titles I will need a link to your site so I can inspect it and see where the space is coming from. It also depends on the demo you installed. Different demos have different title layouts. Please provide a link to your site and I will provide the proper css to remove the gap.
As for the menu colors, please change the color from here: http://screencast.com/t/nkHZL7WkiIcl
Thank you!
Hello logosi,
If you are choosing the layout without content, you should create your own content from scratch and the other way you can install the theme with content. Please notice that you will choose the demo with the content, if you will edit them with your own content and in the future, you want to change the demo, all your data will be lost, whereas if you will use the demo without content, this will remain loaded at your database.
If is not what you mean and if the above information is not useful for you, please provide more details about your problem, provide your website so I can inspect it closer and also, so I will be able to provide a more accurate response.
Thanks for your understanding!
Hi,
That is a smart list: https://forum.tagdiv.com/smart-lists/
It is smart list 6 to me more exact: http://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/whitewater-rafting-day-trip-new-york-east/
Thank you!
Hello,
the theme did not add that information to your footer. Did you buy this site from a previous owner?
That is a block added in the widgets area. Please access the appearance->widgets section of wordpress and under the 3 footer widgets, remove the custom elements added there.
Please also check the footer section of the theme panel and change the site information from there: http://screencast.com/t/UmrmtLqLp
Please read the them documantation to learn about the main theme features: https://forum.tagdiv.com/newspaper-theme-documentation/
Our theme was not built in Slovenia. If you are not sure if an element is part of the theme or not, please check our default demo and compare the 2 sites: http://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/
Thank you!
Hello,
If you want to have only a top image and the rest just titles, you can simply do that with css, no custom coding required. You can simply use one of the theme blocks that has this sort of functionality but with different images like block 1 on 2 columns for example:
http://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/block-1/
You can hide the small thumbs with this code:
.td-block-span6 .td_module_6 .td-module-thumb{
display:none;
}
.td-block-span6 .td_module_6 .item-details{
margin-left:0;
}
result: http://screencast.com/t/oaeZXjpGJHD
You can even target paricular blopcks so you will not affect all blocks 1 at the same time by adding a custom css class on the row in visual composer.
You can also use block 2 :
http://screencast.com/t/DX8PO8MNJl
Or block 18 and 19. You ujust need to change up the css a bit.
Oh, and Block 17 already has this implemented: http://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/block-17/
Unfortunately you cannot separate each post by category. Our theme has no such option. You can filter specific posts in a block from the filter settings or specific categories but you cannot make the block pull each post in particular from a particular category,. There is no such depth added to the post filters. Sorry.
Thanks
Hello rahulagg25,
Please keep in mind that it is just the same thing. If you are choosing the layout without content, you should create your own content from scratch. If you want to create the same with the demo, you should use the Inspector Browser and try to replicate it to your website. You can consult our tutorial here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/create-custom-code-using-the-browsers-inspector/ or you can try to use the demo with content.
Hello PinkGecko,
Thank you for your interest in our theme. You will have two possibilities to use our available demos ->with content and without content. I suppose that you choose the first one, with content, right? If you will use this and if you will edit all the content with yours, when you disable the demo you will loose all your data.
It is best to create from scratch all of your posts and pages because all of these will be loaded in the database and when you change the demo, you will not loose your data. Please provide more details about what do your mean through unlink from the demo? Regarding on font settings, you can change it only from Theme panel, Font Settings section.
Thanks for the message and for your understanding!
Hello Sir,
How to stretch the theme to full width ? I had applied a demo which shows the theme body as boxed .
Awaiting reply
Best Regards
I’d like to show a client various incarnations of the Newspaper demo, but I don’t want to bloat the site with demo content. When I install a different demo, is the first installed automatically removed, or most I do that manually?
And if manually, is that simply deleting all posts/pages and media?
Thanks.
I am unable to recreate the countdown header at http://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper_travel/8-incredible-pictures-from-the-travel-photographer/
8 Llama portrait in Machu Picchu
I looked into the html code but i don’t see anything special, just a H3 heading.
Please advice,
Thanks
When i install the default demo without content. It makes a totally different look than the original with content included.
Hi, I’ve purchased newspaper theme and it’s amazing. however, I need your precious help! I’ve searched for the solution on the documentation without any luck (probably the fault is mine because I am a noob with wordpress). I’ve created a static home page for my news blog (www.dieci.news) but at the bottom I wanna put the page numbers for older posts like the one on your demo: https://s11.postimg.org/epars3xyb/homepage.jpg but how? thanks for your reply!
I imported the animal theme, replaced all the content, removed all the things I don’t need, but no matter what I do the CSS for the h1 Post titles and Category titles are linked to the demo files and I cannot edit any font settings within the Theme Panel settings.
.td-newsmag-animals etc.etc
How can I change this? How do I unlink from the demo?
If I uninstall the demo, will I loose all my settings/data/set up?
When we downloaded/installed the Car News demo, the articles were very current and relevant to the section headings … You must have preloaded the content somehow right before/as we downloaded it … via some utility/RSS feed/Posting into your demo templates. (The postings were current as of that day.)
We want to have our demo be ‘live’ and ‘current’. We can set up our own RSS Aggregator … and we understand that you don’t, as a practice, want to ‘recommend’ any plugins and/or RSS tools, but your search terms and sources seem absolutely perfect for this demo and our purposes.
Is there a way that you can (privately if needed) provide us with this information?
Hello ThePhotoConnection,
I guess that you want to achieve the similar layout with your above example, right? Please notice that our theme has a large list of blocks which are available in Visual Composer. Please check here -> http://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/block-1/ because there you will find all our blocks which are presented in our demo. Also, for more information in this regard, please consult our documentation here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-visual-composer-plugin/ -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/block-settings-tutorial/
If is not what you mean, please provide more details so I will be able to provide a more accurate response.
Thanks for the message!
I have installed default demo. But i am not able to remove the fashion week , gadget categories.
Hi,
It seems the demo you installed (health demo) has a custom css that forces the black color on the hamburger menu. In this case you must add this css in your theme panel->custom css box to change the color:
@media (max-width: 767px){
.td-health #td-top-mobile-toggle i {
color: #1369bf !important;
}
Thank you!
I just install this page and demo, but I found some problem in category page. It doesn’t show pagination. Please, solve this problem.
Hi there,
in Category Template Style 8 if you try to open the pulldown filter you can not see the list properly.
Part of the list is covered by the top news blocks as you can see here:
http://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/category/template-style-8/.
I tried to fix it using z-index property, but I didn’t make it.
Can you help me?
Hello,
1. You should check to see if speedbooster is indeed active and running. is it moving any other render blocking js and css? ius it doing nothing? check the system status and make sure you clear all caches after you change the plugin code. Disable any untested plugin as if you use our workaround for speedbooster to make it work with other plugins, it is not guaranteed it will move the plugins css and js.
2. If wp super cache is installed and runnign properly the system status should detect it as so. Please clear the hosting cache and purge cdn files and test again.
3. You should follow those instructions, yes as they are requirements for the installation of the plugin. After you install it, use this guide to set it properly: https://forum.tagdiv.com/cache-plugin-install-and-configure/
4. we still get some of the errors but we do not use speedbooster on our demo and as you can see it loads pretty fast without it. speedbooster will improve speed but it;s the optimization that you make until that point that count the most: https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fdemo.tagdiv.com%2Fnewspaper%2F&tab=desktop
Give this topic a try also if you want to get the best out of your site’s page speed: https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/score-100100-pagespeed-with-newspaper-wordpress-theme/
Thank you!
Hello,
You can achieve that if you use the theme’s fonts section. You can increase the fonts and make them uppercase like the say what demo:
http://screencast.com/t/nyppxoLvQg6s
http://screencast.com/t/chTWayZWttM
You will have to change the fonts for each module in particular thou.
Blocks are made out of one or more modules. You can see a list of which module is used on what block here: http://screencast.com/t/vgywj6hZHg
Thank you!
Yeah … I’ve been moving all our news network sites to https with “Let’s Encrypt” and we’re going to be beta testing http/2 on our server for the speed-demon-who-needs-CDN-not-me-buddy effect :-).
I don’t use the speedbooster anymore since I tend to manually hack stuff to move to footer anyway, merge files, and then put critical css in header. SO, I’m more into doing that vs the plugin. Also been cheating a bit with the simple “scripts to footer” plugin which plays nice with our sites at the moment.
Also it turned out finally going from Newsmag 1.7 (ahem!) to 3.1 made huge difference in being able to use the tagdiv beta composer. So, with the 3x, scripts to footer, basic house cleaning, and the tagdiv composer, that is one huge giant jumpstart right there … newspaper a bit more clunky but serves more masters!
Right now I’m still embroiled in the nightmare that is working with google for http > https, notifying Google News, mysql search/replace crap, etc. — WAAAH!
Anyway — have not myself yet gotten to playing with php 7. Just switched on new server Aug 5, so still doing house cleaning on stuff in prep for new version of mod_pagespeed (we crashed last version due to some issue where it didn’t like missing images, and with server crash we borked some stuff, so now need to add stupid htacess rule to redirect missing jpeg to default jpeg just to get mod_pagespeed to work …)
but I digress … as per usual :-0
NEWSMAG Theme is “responsive,” it’s mobile friendly by design. There is no “mobile” plugin or theme.
Responsive design “resizes” and changes CSS depending on the viewport, or device size viewing the site.
You can sort of demo this by dragging in right side of your browser window to make it more narrow and see how it changes.
