Check your panel status for the speed booster plugin and make sure it’s active: http://screencast.com/t/a2BBchudPE as it’s set to disable itself if detects an incompatible plugin. I see you use lots of plugins so you should consider that recent versions of the tagdiv speed booster plugin have been designed to disable when it detect incompatible plugins. If you’re not aware of the steps you need to take to improve your page speed score we advise your to hire a freelancer to help you do it because we cannot provide speed customization services at the moment.
The theme uses the WordPress thumbs cropping system and depending on image’s aspect ratio the result could be different, you can find more details here: https://forum.tagdiv.com/image-size/ and more details about cropping here: http://www.davidtan.org/wordpress-hard-crop-vs-soft-crop-difference-comparison-example/
There is not an ideal image size for all thumbs, and a way to find what image will fit best would be to do some tests depending what blocks/modules you use most add an image more nearest with aspect ratio of the thumbs in which you want it to look well. I’ve checked your site and noticed that your fonts and js files are moved to the footer, but google evaluate the page speed on mobile different than on desktop. Evan if those resources are moved to the footer for some reasons they still appear like they are blocking the page render process.

Notice that google it’s much more restrictive with the plugins on mobile site’s version, because some may cause problems for the user when visit the site on mobile devices. It’a good practice to keep only the necessary plugins installed, also chose carefully what plugins you’re using because some of them may slow down the site if are not written ok.

Hi Alin, just face the same issue as stated above.. it is a little weird of how this image crop is working.. if i see the demo install of newspaper default.. the image is set as featured with size 1068×712 or 1068×709 and in the demo install it is well sized either on the big grid layout, on the footer thumb block, on the search block.
this is my demo install http://demo.howtoproblem.com/. I refer to the post “Simple form creation and storage, built for developers.” Fyi. I have tried to resize my image manually from photoshop to 1068×712 then i set as featured and i run the regenerate thumbnails but on the search result block the image is not well sized.. if i inspect element it shows that the image is resized to 150x150px ? dohh.. could you give us the best tricks for this issue ? this really time consuming issue..

If you already have videos and they in Categories already all you have to do is add each Categories of videos to which video block you want, and what you calling a slider is called “Big Grid 6” on the demo video page if you want a slider you can use “Big Grid Slider where you can find through the Visual Composer as well…

Setting up the video page is no different then setting up a “About page,Contact Page, etc it’s the same way and use the same opitions,instead of posting a featured image to a post you will be posting the video image instead in the Featured Video section on the right side…

I must say base on ur instructions on how to add the video its going to be a lot of work for me given the fact that i already have videos and their links from previous theme that i use so following ur instructions is going to take some time as i have over 250 videos that i have to go through and find their link again on youtube. Is there a way the process can be made shorter using the previous video links?

To start you off first for a newbie it’s best to import the video page demo settings that will give you a idea on setting up your video page,also you need visual composer to build your video page and it comes with the theme so that’s not a problem..
To post videos you choose in format “Video” and then post the full video link from the url page in the “Featured Video”

I am using your newspaper theme and its a nice theme however I need help with my settings. I am building a video site and I want the formats for be like your demo video themes. I had a previous video site that I using another theme before, I now change it to your theme and using the video format however there are settings that are not working according to your video demo.
1) How can I get the video slider on the home page?
2) Where can I add the adsense code?
3)Why is the settings on the home page being duplicated eg the posts block layout?
4) when I change the theme to your theme I noticed I have lost all the previous url links that I got from Youtube?
5) How to post videos? Looking at your demo example it showing a video while my site is showing an article formats posting.
6) The streaming video section how can you enter the codes from youtube, what I mean, what info do you copy from Youtube to get the same format?
7) Editors Pick – how to set that option on the footer?

I can’t seem to solve or make progress on my Newspaper Theme performance issues.
I’ve got five friends that want to use Newspaper, too, if only I can get past my performance issues.
(They’re new bloggers, they like the idea of the theme, they’re a bit worried about my inability to fix my performance issues, or to find someone who can.)
My performance sucks (in the 40’s) with no clear remedy in sight.
Worse, when users hit my site the first time, the page loads blank (no images show)
If they reload the home page, then images show the second time, but after a flash of gray.

I haven’t seen anybody else’s site load like mine, where it’s all framed out with gray placeholders, and then, as if a second flash, the images then show up.
Here’s my setup at a glance:
* I’m hosting on Siteground.
* I use WP Rocket which is tested with Siteground — just default options.
* I’m using a CDN (Cloudflare), with default options.
* I have Gzip working.
* I use WP Smush Pro to smush all images (all images are smushed.)
* I used P3 (Plugin Performance Profiler) to analyze plugin performance.
I contemplated W3 cache (well, In installed it, but it was immediate conflict with WP Rocket, and WP Rocket’s feature compare shows superior in all regards, but I don’t have enough experience yet to know of it’s true.)
I get Chris’s point on the difference between buying a car, and driving the car. Well, now I want to know how to drive like the Mario Andretti. I feel like I’ve got the “owner’s Guide”, but not the “Driver’s Guide”. But actually, I don’t want yet another guide, I want a student driver model where I pay a consultant to show me the ropes for a couple of hours while fixing things, looking over my shoulder, or me looking over theirs.)
My images are probably the main problem, I don’t know how to fix them without doing weird acts of God, and I’m trying to keep posting simple and pragmatic, not build a better mouse trap with weird optimizations and even weirder workflow.

Google tells me my page speed sucks. Is Compression Working tells me Gzip is working. Pingdom tells me my images are bloated. GTMetrix fails with a 522 timeout and blames my CDN.

I like how the title on the Fashion Demo (http://themeforest.net/item/newspaper/full_screen_preview/5489609) is shifted to the left, but in my article display view module templates, there is only the option to have the title centered (M14).
How can I shift the title on module 14 of the Article Display View templates to the left?

I love this NewsMag theme, and it has (almost) everything i need in a theme. I have encountered a problem now though.
I’ve installed this plugin called “Sportspress Pro” and tried following its “theme integration guide” (link 1) to make it look as awesome as it does with their themes, but no luck so far (link 2).
Anyone have any suggestions to how I could be able to fix this?

Fast Fact: Initial tests show Adpress works without a problem.
I have been using Adpress on our old site for years.
Adpress is not perfect, but it is a beast I know and it has yet to fail me so far. Plus the author is a cool cat.
We use Adpress simply. Only we the staff post ads, and all of our ads are images in our media library. We don’t do anything else but that.
We are upgrading our theme to NewsMag. We are doing testing on a dummy site with the demo and Adpress.

First I uploaded a 728×90 image to the Media Library.
Then I created a Adpress Campaign. Ad Type Image. Ads Number 20. Image Size 728×90. Clicks 10,000. Column Number 1. Price 0. Ad Rotation checked with Ads to Display 1.
This created a AdPress Campaign shortcode of
[adpress campaign=1]
Then I went to Ad Press Settings Image Ad. Deleted everything in both HTML Code and CSS Style. Then I entered in HTML code the following:

I was wondering the best place to put “td-all-devices”, but I decided to make it flexible.
In NewsMag Theme panel Ads for Header Ad, I entered in the following:
<div class=”td-all-devices”>[adpress campaign=1]</div>`
I also just threw in the Adpress Campaign shortcode into a post.
Long story short. It worked both places and was responsive.
I will do some more testing and let you know how it goes.

You could use current available theme’s normal slide: http://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/ios-slider/ or the big slider: http://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/big-grid-slide/
If you want other slides design you could try to find a plugin.

Try clearing your caches, CDN expirations, etc.
Use the “regenerate thumbnails” plugin to create thumbs to fit this theme’s layout/sizes.
I don’t think all the photos from the demo are included as they may be royalty images which require a license; not sure.
