How can I integrate featured post slider and remove the grid style layout for featured post in the Nespaper 6.3 theme?

I am new to this theme and just messing around trying to set up a homepage and I noticed that when I select the different modules for latest articles it is only 1 column instead of 2. If i get rid of the sidebar then 2 will fit, but I would like it to look like the demo site with 2 columns of articles using module 1. It looks like there is plenty of room, its just white space. Also, the demo site is a full inch wider than my site, how can I make my site wider?
I have just updated my theme to Newspaper 6. I want my home page posts and posts to be displayed as it is on the classic blog demo. How do I achieve this?

You can access the archive using date after the url and the articles are generated by wordpress, check this link on our demo – http://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/2015/ You can use and add a link to the menu for example so the users can access the archive.

Yoast SEO has had numerous bugs, check the changelog sometime to see how many bugs they have had. My contention was simply that using Yoast SEO as a “comparator” to anything else related to bugs, is not a good metric.
Total number of changelog items is clearly not a good metric for determining how buggy software is. There’s no way for a developer to anticipate how their software will work once it’s installed in a million websites. Without an analysis of the major releases, subsequent point releases, and any discovered negative impacts to the entire user base, you can’t just call WordPress SEO plugin “buggy”.
H1 is useful on home page; H2 also useful for topical elements such as section heads, but not so much for story heads ad they are ephemeral; meaning, they change daily, so they are not sticky and therefore not relevant to long-term, long-tail SERPS placement.
Blocks/modules that contain “featured content” or “most popular posts” can live on the home page indefinitely. I would argue that most niche site home pages do not change daily. If someone adds new content every day, they are likely more “authority” or “news” than “niche”. Niche sites rely on on-page SEO more heavily than authority or news sites.
If my homepage contains an H1 containing “Best Sprocket Reviews – SprocketReview.com” and an H2 link containing “Samsung Turbo Sprocket Review”, does this provide zero SEO benefit to my article in your opinion?

That’s all great but in this thread you suggested that short posts don’t rank, missing alt tags I defined are not a theme concern, 800-1200 word original content in lieu of on-page SEO is adequate for “the best SEO”, and H1 & H2 do not provide the benefit on homepages and archives to warrant adding them to the theme. I don’t think SEOs would agree with this.
Having the theme selectively add H1 to the home page is not as hard as you make it out to be. In one of my themes it’s accomplished with a single IF statement.
Having the theme add H1 and H2 to the home page and archive pages will help more users than it would hurt. Almost all of the sites listed on page one of the showcase thread are missing H1 and H2 on their home and archive pages. Sure, we can say that these users are responsible for knowing and correcting their own SEO. Or, the theme can help users who don’t know any better. The latter option is clearly better than the former.
One might also argue it’s useful to inspect the demo of a theme before buying it…
I actually mentioned the header issues to TagDiv before buying the theme (5/4 email). I purchased the theme anyway because I liked it and planned to pursue getting the SEO issues fixed. TagDiv has added the H1, H2, and Alt Tag issues to the list so, so far so good. I’ll be running more SEO tests on the theme when I get time.

I never said Newspaper was bad or buggy. To the contrary, in this very thread I said “I love the theme”, I said Newspaper was “awesome” and I said Newspaper “is not buggy”. All of my replies to TagDiv have been polite. You are clearly mischaracterizing what I said.

So, you don’t need to debunk my statement, as it’s well known. Yoast has had numerous bugs which break the site, break other plugins, and major security flaws (where they finally hired a security firm to check them).

The “home page” is typically not “critical” for SEO, as you want your “post” to rank higher than your home page for a specific story, including the title and excerpt, so causing them to fight each other is un-wise.
I only speak as an SEO expert having been building websites since March 1995, and widely interviewed on SEO topics by Entrepreneur, PCWorld, Monster.com, etc. And we had a highly successful SEO business for 10 years with over 2 million #1 positions in Google and Yahoo for our clients. And, oh yeah, I have two Harvey Measurement Awards for “most responsive advertising,” and a design award from Apple Computer, Inc. for marketing campaigns for Apple retail products in California, and built Oprah Winfrey’s ecom solution for her “Begin with Love” video series; but what the hell do I know?
TagDiv does provide the tools to add H1 tags to any home page and it should be up to any theme user / site developer to manage their own SEO practices. It could be needlessly confusing to have a built in H1 element on the home page template as there is no default home page template technically, since the presumption is you would be “rolling your own.” So this would require yet another set of code to check if home page and insert something in header, have toggles for on/off, and remove code for those doing their own H1 placement as we have done with WP for 10 years now. Frankly if folks can’t be aware of SEO for their own site, they are generally not that worried about it — and these are often same folk not reading the WP codex to learn how to set permalinks, etc.
One might also argue it’s useful to inspect the demo of a theme before buying it, then using it, then posting numerous times how bad it is or buggy, vs. requesting possible changes politely?
These are just my thoughts, having used Newspaper for almost 2 years now, and have great traffic, great SEO, and placement in Google News, Bing News, and syndicated worldwide through major information systems like LexisNexis, etc.
But that’s just me. Your mileage, as in all things, will vary.

Actually this file was not available on my server. So I copied from your demo site and looks ok now.

I want to remove some demo content such as Editor Picks just above the footer. When viewing the page itself there are no blocks showing for this demo content, how can it be removed?

Great, thanks. If I export my theme settings, then I uninstall the demo and I install it again … will I recover my theme settings once I import my theme settings?
First i purchased News Theme but keep getting to support forum of Newspaper theme.
anyways, I was trying to install demo site but when importing XML i get error – “Failed to import Media “*file name*”, also have troubles with menu.
then i noticed you support up to WordPress 4.1, but i installed 4.2 most resent version, is there will be update?.
also i own Newsmag theme and was under impression this will be similar theme coz it comes from tagDiv, with Theme Panel and Visual Composer, but unfortunately this is bit stripped version of some other themes you have for sale.

Please disable all plugins except of Visual Composer, clear cache and purge your files if you use CDN and check if you still have this issue. Also disable any js/css minifications. I did not found any issues with this using latest version of the theme with plugins that come with the theme’s files, also you can check our demo.

If you have a demo installed and you have changed some settings, when you uninstall it the default settings will be loaded and you will lose also your changes. If you don’t want to uninstall the demo, you can only manually change the font. 1. The only plugin I have on my setup that affects formatting is TinyMCE Advanced, which I just disabled for testing. The results remained the same with and without that plugin activated. See output: http://i.imgur.com/JnN3Nd5.png
As I was testing this I found that the behavior isn’t consistent.
- The first block of text in a smart list item is not in <p> tags
- An empty <p> tag appears after the first block of text
- Subsequent blocks of text after the 2nd one are formatted properly in a <p> tag
- Attempting to manually add additional spacing to separate the first two blocks of text causes the output to act normally (See below screenshots)

If I try to double that spacing, either by pressing enter (carriage return) or shift+enter (line-break), then everything acts normal, which still isn’t the desired result. Here is a sample of the visual editor input demonstrating this:

Makes no sense to me unless the theme (smart list) is trying to play with the <p> tags and getting it wrong. Haven’t found any way to explain it though.
2. The image in my screenshot is 188×300 at medium. I tried setting it to full size, which exceeds 300px in both directions and that did not help. It happens with other images too. Landscape and portrait images are doing it though that portrait image is showing the most spacing to the right, one of which is 275×183 at full size. Not finding a common denominator there.
It would seem that the image must be of an exact proportion ratio to avoid this problem, but nothing is documented of the sort. That’s a bug in my mind. I say that because it’s obviously inconsistent with respect to orientation and pixel dimensions. Any ideas?

Thank you for your reply. That’s the thing, I wanted the fonts the same way they came in the demo — before I changed them by mistake. If I recall correctly, I saw the Roboto font selected somewhere but I don’t remember where. If I uninstall and then install again the demo, would I lose all of my selections?

Not sure how you want to do this, you can check our demo and see how tagdiv blocks can be used and how they look on 1,2 or 3 columns. You can test this using Visual Composer rows and also limit articles for each block so maybe you will achieve the look that you want.

I have installed fashion demo to my blog and I see retina logo size issue that you do not have on your fashion demo here:

I have uploaded logo with size 272×90
And I have uploaded retina logo with size 1080×300 (the size not from theme panel, but from your demo).
And now when I loking at my site on retina monitor, my logo is very big, but on your demo your logo is looking good, as with normal size.
Please help me to make my retina (big size) logo looking also in the normal size. I need this to make my logo looking with high quality on retina displays.
