Hey,
I tried the options for the Big Grid Flex 9 and unfortunately nothing works, the pictures on the main page are still wrong, I don’t know how I should do this so the images are not cropped… Please help
Dear tagDiv Support,
I have updated the theme from Newspaper 9.0 to 9.7, but now Big Grid Full 7 has titles and text issues, the same occurrs with the other “Full” elements, and also with the Flex modules.
If I change the padding I get issues on mobile devices, and it is strange because in the past I didn’t have any issue with any modules, especially with the Big Grid Full elements that are my preferred ones.
Any suggestion to fix them?
Thank you and Best Regards,
Marco M.
In case anyone stumbles onto this… There is no way to customize without risking changes being overwritten when TD pushes updates.

Hi,
Most of the theme files were moved into the tagDiv Composer plugin as per the requirements of Envato: https://help.author.envato.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000472383-WordPress-Theme-Requirements, as we wrote an article on that subject. In the future, if you need to make some changes over those core files, you need to check the files from here -> https://www.screencast.com/t/Pu345nqP If you need more assistance in this case, please open a new topic at our support forum from here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/forum/newspaper/
Thank you!

So does this mean that you have to edit the core plugin files directly!? I have made changes to the footer and various part of site through child theme template customizations, how are these suppose to be added now without editing the core plugin files?
Example. I have a child theme and have
childtheme/parts/footer/td_footer_template_14.php
I have added an above footer widget area to this file, and now this is gone. How would I re-add this functionality?

We wrote an article on the subject here: https://tagdiv.com/updating-the-core-of-tagdiv-themes/
Moving forward with such requirements, a child theme will only work with functions.php, and style.css, as there are very few files left in the main theme as Envato, requires all functionality to be added through plugins. From now on, if you want to make some changes over the footer theme templates, you need to edit the code from here -> https://www.screencast.com/t/RqUdpKc8 Also, if you need more assistance in this case, please open a new topic at our support forum from here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/forum/newspaper/
Sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for understanding!

That does not help at all. What happens when you update the TD Composer plugin? All of the updates that were done to those would be replaced.
This is NOT going to work for continuous development using the Newspaper theme.
There are ways to incorporate locate_template() within a plugin so that you can still maintain the functionality of overriding core templates.
This is not an inconvenience this is a DEAL BREAKER for utilizing this theme going forward with new clients, the flexibility and customization of this theme just went from 90% down to 0%.

Hi,
The Newspaper theme update brings a change for the customers that use WP Bakery Page Builder with our Theme: when you’ll be updating to the Newspaper 9.7.2 version, you’ll need to activate the tagDiv Composer to keep the Newspaper theme functionality you’ve previously used. Otherwise, you will have basic WordPress functionality, complying with Envato WordPress Requirements – https://help.author.envato.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000472383-WordPress-Theme-Requirements.
Please note that activating the tagDiv Composer doesn’t mean that you are required to use our custom page builder on your website. You can use the WP Bakery page builder as you did before the update. We recommended you to do not use the tagDiv Composer and WP Bakery page builders on the same page though, because you cannot edit with WP Baker blocks and shortcodes created with tagDiv Composer or vice-versa. Regarding your customizations, if you have made and have affected some of the theme core files when you will make the theme update, all of these files will be overwritten. You need to make a full backup and then, all these customizations should have to be implemented again to the core files.
Thank you!

Catalin,
Your response has nothing to do with the issue I proposed. I did not say anything about WP Bakery.
The theme has no hooks at all to implement customizations on a plugin level, and now the functionality of customizing page/post templates has been removed without introducing a new method to make those customizations.
Your answer of just “hack the core files” is absurd. You can not really believe that your customers are going to think this “cowboy coding” way is going to fly in 2019?
Is there someone on your development team or someone higher up that you could connect me to?
I have built out over 20 media publications using the Newspaper theme, all of which have customizations. If I make changes to the TD Composer plugin and you push out an update, it is only a matter of time before all of those customizations are lost.

Hi,
Sorry for the inconvenience! In your case, if this update will affect your websites, the best solution is to keep the old theme version (9.1) for them. This can be downloaded from here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/important-new-update-newspaper-9-7/ Please notice that we try doing our best and where we find a way for this case, we will make an update with this, sorry! At the moment, there is no such thing, sorry!
Thank you!
Hi,
That plugin cannot be used anymore since update 9.7, it has been replaced by a new plugin
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/developer-info/
You could use this plugin from now on. Or experiment with flex blocks, maybe what it used to be possible only with the api plugin, it is now possible with flex blocks and grids
– https://tagdiv.com/tagdiv-composer-flex-block-elements/
– https://tagdiv.com/tagdiv-composer-big-grid-flex-elements/
Thanks
Hi,
Please try this custom css
https://www.screencast.com/t/Ys3Eef1fii
@media (min-width: 600px){
.wp-block-column {
flex-basis: 100%;
}
}
Set the code in Theme panel>Custom code>Custom css
Thank you!
Hi,
Please notice that you can create your custom template for those pages and also, you can use the Flex Block and add the Read More button functionality, following the same functionality. Do you have tried it? Please notice that you can create a new custom template for each section you want, like Category, Attachment, Author page, etc.
Thank you!
Hi,
You told me to to build a page with tagdiv flex block module that has the ‘Read more’option. It is ok for pages such as front page.
When a visitor clicks on a menu item that is a Post Category and not a page, the template that is loading will not have the read more button but the default archive template will be loaded.
This is the page
https://www.acharnaika-nea.gr/
This is the category archive
https://www.acharnaika-nea.gr/category/featured/
I can actually add read more button with 2 lines of php code at excerpt filter but i need to know how the theme handles this because my customer needs to handle this kind of issues.
Thanks
Hi,
Unfortunately, the old td-api-plugin plugin does not work anymore and we recommend using this -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/developer-info/
You can create these modules that you made with that api using the flex blocks and you can save the element in a shortcode to can use it later in orders pages -> https://www.screencast.com/t/a2ikt4tq
Thank you for your understanding!
How to increase the height of big grid flex and make it full screen like shown in this image bellow.
http://www.screencast.com/t/mefNzv4vwk
Hi,
Indeed, in Newspaper v9.7 the only files that can be set in child theme are functions.php and style.css , but the most parts of customization can be made now using tagDiv Composer and elements from tagDiv Cloud Library, the changes make on modules/blocks can be achieve using flex blocks , in your case you can set a footer page made by you or form cloud with all the elements/widgets you need ->https://forum.tagdiv.com/footer-templates/
Thank you for your understanding!
Hi,
I recommend you to use the Flex Block because this element allows you to use any module you want and add the Read More Button. Check here -> https://www.screencast.com/t/u9x8LsZJxwaG
Thank you!
Hi,
Unfortunately there is no options in theme to use the original size of image without make thumbs.
Our theme make automatic thumbs or all modules from theme -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/theme-thumbs/
Featured images -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/featured-image/
You can use flex blocks, those have more options and you can chose the thumbs that you want to show.
Thank you!
Hi,
I could give you a code to remove that space, it will be like this
– http://prntscr.com/nme210
You can enter it in the theme panel->custom code->CSS section
.td-header-style-11 .td-logo-wrap-full {
min-height: 90px;
line-height: 90px;
}
.td-header-style-11 .td-logo-wrap-full .td-logo {
line-height: 90px;
}
The shadow you mention is actually an image, the color can’t be changed for it. How exactly would you like it to be? I could try and modify it’s size. Let me know.
You could also check out some cloud header templates
– https://cloud.tagdiv.com/#/load/Headers
These can be edited with the tagDiv composer and customized. You can import each one with the cloud library plugin – https://forum.tagdiv.com/tagdiv-cloud-library-plugin/
Or you can build your own header starting from a blank template
– http://prntscr.com/nme4cc – http://prntscr.com/nme4h6
The predefined header styles don’t have any settings, the cloud headers offer more flexibility.
Thanks
Hi,
Please check this topic about How can I view the mobile version of a webpage in Google Chrome for Desktop?
If you are no using the mobile theme plugin you can use flex blocks and you can chose the layout for each device ( desktop, iPad, mobile ).
The mobile theme is a plugin that provide you a better speed then responsive version of theme, but in order to achieve that speed you’ll need to create a new content for pages because in the most of cases those were made with builders ( tagDiv Composer, WPBakery ) and you need to use only the mobile editor ( you need to set the content for pages in mobile editor and this content will be display on mobile theme)
-> https://www.screencast.com/t/ebUIzt4se
Mobile Theme: Automatic Optimization for Mobile with Newspaper Theme -> https://tagdiv.com/mobile-theme-automatic-optimization-for-mobile-newspaper-theme/
Thank you!
Hi,
Please try to use flex block, these have more setting and can be set after your needs
-> https://www.screencast.com/t/4qM0z3A6Hfs2
Thank you!
Hi,
If you want to have more control over blocks, you can use flex blocks -> https://tagdiv.com/discover-flex-blocks-customization/
tagDiv Composer: Flex Block Elements -> https://tagdiv.com/tagdiv-composer-flex-block-elements/
Thank you!
Hi,
You can find the child theme in the package that you have download from themeforest , you need to unzip the file and look in Newspaper-tf > code -> https://www.screencast.com/t/SkcjyR0cOz
Also now is no need to use child theme to customize the post templates of blocks/modules, you can customize the single posts templates from tagDiv Cloud Library directly in theme using tagDiv Composer also you can use flex blocks instead blocks, these can be easy change with tagDiv Composer.
If you like some parts from demos you can find theme in tagDiv Cloud Template and you can get them from there, without need to install the demo ( or you can install the demo and use others demo parts from tagDiv Cloud Library ).
Thank you!
Hello !
It appears that under your Watch Now section you have a Latest Articles section and the latest articles section provided by the page template can’t be moved – https://tagdiv.com/tagdiv-cloud-library-tag-templates/ it will always appear at the bottom of the page and it will use pagination.
A solution is to choose the default page template for the page in question, then add a block called latest articles and sorted by latest (which will function the same way basically) in the location you want. You can choose from the default blocks
– https://tagdiv.com/tagdiv-cloud-library-blocks/
Or use a flex block and it’s options to customize how it looks
– https://tagdiv.com/tagdiv-composer-flex-block-elements/
Alson on the side you have page widgets wich can be edited by going to Appearance – Widgets
Thank you !
Hi,
Unfortunately only on flex blocks can be make settings per device, the rest of elements/shortcodes do not have this option yet, sorry!
Thank you for your understanding!
Articles in the Fastnews demo are loading slow in the flexblock1. Seems like Fade in?
How can I turn this off?
Thanks
The popular post sorting requires this option to be active in the theme panel
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/7-days-post-sorting/
Once you activate that setting the theme will start counting the views posts get. For this to happen the post views have to be active – http://prntscr.com/nli2rx
Posts should begin to appear in the block after doing this.
Flex grids can use a few thumbnail sizes to choose from http://prntscr.com/nli4ue
Also alignment slider – http://prntscr.com/nli53d so you can display the top, middle or bottom of the image.
There should be enough setting to achieve the result you want.
Depends, in a page a sidebar can be created by for example splitting a row like this
– http://prntscr.com/nli67u
In that column you can either add elements directly from the composer, or use a widget sidebar and select from your existing widget sidebars
– https://www.screencast.com/t/S6PZx2IvYW
Let me know if you need help or you have more questions.
Hi,
If you want to set a padding or a margin to all flex grid you need to set it in css -> https://www.screencast.com/t/gxSwNvdZ if you set in layout will be apply only on that module also make sure that the settings in layout are set to fit the modules height -> https://www.screencast.com/t/IhKs2JLTkQG
Thank you!
Hi,
You can remove that continue to the category text by editing the page with tagDiv Composer, click on flex blocks and change the header template 12, this one have the continue button -> https://www.screencast.com/t/PsPdO3OwSvWW
Thank you!

Okay, I now see what’s the problem, thanks.
But I also have a problem with other things. Can you help me?
First – Block 24 shows no posts – I wanted it to be “Popular in the last week”, so there’s Category filter – all categories and Sort order – Popular (last 7 days). It shows nothing…
Second – Big Grid Flex 9 shows miniatures with moved images. What I mean – when I have a main image for the post it’s good but on Grid it is like moved down instead of cenetered. In other miniatures images are cropped… What image size I should use for my website so all would look good?
Also – is there any way I could make a sidebar on the main page the way it is inside the posts? Right now when I want to change the blocks, the other main content on the page is moving and getting bigger – depending on the size of the block in the sidebar.
I would really appreciate your help
