Hello,

I suggest reinstalling the theme using ftp: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/ and then testing without plugins: please disable all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files if you use it. Please also check any custom code you might have added to the theme panel or the theme files. If you use a child theme, please switch to the main theme to make sure it does not affect the proper functionality of the theme.

Thank you!

Hi futbolpulse.com,

Please keep in mind that the Visual Composer is fully tested and compatible with our theme and until now we have not encountered any issues in this regard. I have inspected your website and I did not saw any issues regarding on this. Your website seems to work as properly. So, if the issues will reappear, you should make a new clean install from scratch, via FTP way because this is the surest method in this regard. Also, install only the plugins that come bundled with the theme packet and rule out any conflicting plugins. For more information about FTP method, please consult here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-ftp/

Hello krismali,

Please keep in mind that our theme is fully tested and it should not appear these errors. I suppose that you are using some untested plugins which interact with the theme and cause a lot of unknown issues. Please try to disable all of them, leave just Visual composer to active, clear all your caches and install only the plugins that come bundled with the theme packet and rule out any conflicting plugins. Also, if the problem is still there, please try to make a new clean install to another sub-domain via FTP because this is the surest method in this regard. For more information about theme installing, please consult the documentation here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/newsmag-install-via-ftp/

Hope this helps!

“You just need to type true within the parenthesis here: http://screencast.com/t/iXIGXXJVHEU
so the code should look like this:
$next_post = get_next_post(true);
$prev_post = get_previous_post(true);
This will make the next and prev posts dependent on the post category”

You have to access your files via ftp and edit the theme php file called td-module-single-base.php. You can see it’s path in the screenshot above
Thanks.

Hi John,
Thanks for your question. I deleted the theme from my hosting account cPanel. I made a backup copy to a different folder and restored it quickly when I botched it the first couple times (stupid coding error on my part).

I did the following steps if you want the play by play:

1) Make sure you have full access to your hosting cPanel account.
2) Go to your domain folder (public_html/john) and create a temp folder there. I just created a folder named temp_copy so it would be public_html/john/temp_copy.
3) Then I went to my wp-content/themes/ folder, highlighted Newspaper, right clicked, chose “copy” and then when it asked me where I wanted the copy to go, I made sure it said public_html/john/temp_copy.
4) Then go to your temp folder and you’ll see Newspaper there. Rename it Newspaper_73. Now you’ve got your copy that DEFINITELY works.
5) Then go to your WordPress dashboard/appearances/themes and choose another theme.
6) Go back to your hosting account cPanel, delete Newspaper from your wp-content/themes folder.
7) Go back to WordPress dashboard and upload Newspaper 7.5. Or you can upload the .zip file and deploy it in your themes folder via cPanel (or FTP).
8) I then went back to WordPress and activated Newspaper 7.5
9) When I broke my site the first couple times due to my own coding mistake, I was able to quickly delete the broken 7.5 theme and then do a restore of 7.3 from my temp file (using the same method as in step 3 above).

Hope this helps!
Cheers

A crazy number of problems since I updated the theme – !

I updated the theme. Initially via WP, encountering problems. Then using the Envato tool, and not managing to get anywhere. Eventually via FTP.
Took me a while to wipe everything properly, but I managed to re-install the theme.
I found all my settings basically intact.
Except – the homepage is completely broken. Pages and posts are broken, too, even if less messy (apparently)
Tried activate/deactivate, clearing caches.
I uninstalled the Visual Composer that came with the theme the day I purchased it (Oct 11th).
I then installed the Visual Composer that I find in the folder I can download from Envato today.

When VC is installed, but not active, the site displays almost correctly – meaning that the layout looks more like it, even if rows and columns are misplaced
>>> check thegoodmood.it – you can actually read bits of code here and there

When VC is installed, and active, the whole site is a mess – homepage, pages, posts, pictures, sliders – everything !

Right now, it is installed but not activated.

I have been trying a number of variations of install/uninstall – activate/deactivate – keep cache/clear cache – the theme just won’t work properly as it used to do before the update.

Please get back with a solution!
Thanks

Flavia

Hello votranhtuhi,

Try to make a new clean install from scratch using only the plugins that come bundled with the theme packet and rule out any conflicts. The Widgetised sidebars are fully tested with the theme and seem to work as properly until now. The theme installing should have to be done via FTP because this is the surest method in this regard

The Visual Composer does not need activation.
-The theme includes a license for this plugin so you don’t have to buy it.
-You don’t have to activate the plugin license, it’s already activated.
-You can’t update Visual Composer directly from the it’s producer.
-You don’t have to worry about the plugin update warnings.
-We provide updates on a regular basis after we test the plugin for theme compatibility we include it in the latest theme update, inside the ../plugins folder

If the problem is still there, please send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com with your log-in information (wp-admin) so we can further inspect it closer your setup page. Provide there the link of this topic so we can easily identify you.

Hello troypener,

First of all, please ensure that you have respected our list of requirements for our product, like this -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/requirements-for-newspaper/ Also, try to update the theme to the latest version of it and also, all the required plugins which come bundled with the theme, clear all your caches and test it again. Basically, the latest Fatal error is happening due to the old version of Visual Composer. Try to update it and check the results.
Please try to clear this and re-install the latest version of the theme via FTP because this is the surest method in this regard. For more information about this, consult here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-ftp/

Hope this helps and let us know how it goes!

Thanks for your understanding!

i just purchased the newspaper theme. I installed WordPress through the cpanel Site software. I FTP’d into the themes directory and uploaded the theme files and activated the theme.

I got to the first page to install plugins required by Newspaper and it asked me to install visual composer. When i click the Install button next to it, i get an error as below:

——————————–
Installing Plugin: Visual Composer

The plugin does not have a valid header.

Downloading install package from http://www.routerpasswords.com/wp-content/themes/Newspaper/includes/plugins/js_composer.zip…

Download failed. Not Found

Return to tagDiv plugins panel
——————————–

I have double checked the file exists in wp-content/themes/Newspaper/includes/plugins/js_composer.zip and i have downloaded and opened it and it opens fine.

Please advise what i should do.

We already have a site running with thousands of visitors daily. I did a page speed test for mobile and we are geting 54%

I’ve cloned the same site on a sandbox location on the same server, installed your theme, even disabled most pl;ugins and we are now getting 0… but when we install your mobile theme whiich is not so flexible to do what we want, we get 34%

Ive left a few plugins we can’t do without and I went to status to see page booster

one by one I became shocked

v4.5 – Disabled – incompatible plugin detected: updraftplus/updraftplus.php
same for askimet, Disqus Comment System and some others

just seems that the plugin is of no use since these are kind of key plugins and even common ones too

please can you advice what next if your speedbooster doesn’t work?

What really concerns me more is that I activated 3 different themes on the same site and tested, they all performed way better and the only reason I bought this was the promotion that this theme was going to be super fast… seems a lot of optimizations beyond the normal is required if I’m not mistaken

Please put my mind to rest with solutions
