Hey Chris,

Recently learned of a great website that compresses images perfectly: https://tinyjpg.com/

Having backed up all of my websites using FTP access, I took EVERY image and uploaded them to this compressing image site, one folder’s worth at a time.

Then saved the compressed images in new appropriately named folders and CAREFULLY uploaded to overwrite the images on the server. This took me days to complete but it saved my hosting server sooooo much room it wasn’t funny.

Also … installed WP Optimize plugin and cleaned out EVERY revision ever made to EACH website saving even MORE server space. One site alone saved 46.2MB another 10.3MB … yes, MegaBites.

Once you’ve completed your clean up be sure to deactivate and remove this plugin until next cleaning. Extra plugins will cause your server to slow down too so there is no need to leave this one installed.

Am guessing others are now experiencing the same Resources Limit Reached prompts that made me go looking for a new theme … as old themes that have not been updated and fully optimized will also bog down a server.

Hope this helps.

Hello,
Please disable all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and rest cdn files if you use it. Then test again. If the problem is still there, please delete your theme and install it again by using this guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/
Choose the ftp method and also delete the theme manually via ftp as there is a bug in the current version of WP that might prevent you from deleting any theme from the wp dashboard.
Thank you!

Hi,

No, there is no header style with 2 ads. Each header style on our site has only 1 ad. If you require 2 ads, you can place an ad via the theme code. For header style 1 you can add an extra ad spot like so:
1. Place your ad in the custom ad spot 1 in the theme panel: http://screencast.com/t/6Wx1ttEH
2. Access your theme files via ftp and find this file: http://screencast.com/t/xvuHorAEdD
3. Add this code at the very bottom of the code:

<div class="custom_header_spot">
<?php echo do_shortcode('[td_block_ad_box spot_id="custom_ad_1"]'); ?>
</div>

example: http://screencast.com/t/Mhrr30iyP
4. Place this css in the theme panel -> custom css box:
.custom_header_spot{
margin: 24px auto 0 auto !important;
}

result: http://screencast.com/t/FO99YOj69r

Thank you!

I have the same question for my site!

Hello madox56,

Please try to make a new clean install from scratch with the latest version of the theme and required plugins via FTP because this is the surest method in this regard. Also, if you are using some untested plugins, please try to disable all of them, leave just Visual Composer to active, clear all your caches and install only the plugins that come bundled with the theme and rule out any conflicting plugins.
Also, if your problem is still there after this steps, please send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com with your log-in information (wp-admin) so we can further inspect it closer your setup page. Provide there the link of this topic so we can easily identify you.

Thanks for the message!

Hello eivindert,

It seems to be a issue with the actual version of WordPress which do not allow you to delete the theme. You should update your theme using the FTP method, according to our documentation here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-ftp/
For more references in this regard, please check here -> https://wordpress.org/support/topic/deletion-failed-the-requested-theme-does-not-exist-2/

Hello,

I updated Newspaper 7.4 to 7.5 using the FTP method. It worked on my sub-directory (multi-language site), but not on the main domain (English site).

Any suggestion to resolve the issue is appreciated. Thanks for doing a great job in creating the theme.

Nik

Hello ashley112,

Please make sure that this type of issue does not come from your untested plugins. Try to disable all of them, leave just Visual Composer to active, clear all your caches and install only the plugins that come bundled with the theme and rule out any conflicting plugins. The theme is fully compatible with our tested plugins and we have not encountered any issue in this regard. If the problem is still there, please try to make a new clean install from scratch only with the required plugins and check the results. You should use the FTP method for installing your theme because this is the surest way in this regard. For more information about this, please consult here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/newsmag-install-via-ftp/

Hope this helps!

Hello punza,

Please ensure that you are using the latest version of the theme (Newsmag 3.2) and also, the latest version of required plugins which come bundled with the theme packet (Visual Composer 4.12.1, Social Counter 4.1). The theme should have to be installed only via FTP because this is the surest method in this regard. -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-ftp/ Please make sure that your system status is correctly set it according to our documentation here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/system-status-parameters-guide/ To bring best results with the theme, you should consult our useful tutorial which helps you to increase your page speed if you have some experience in this regard. Please check here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-make-the-site-faster/
If you are not aware of the steps which are needed to take in this regard and if you are not an advanced user, please consider hiring a freelancer/developer to help you because we cannot provide custom work at the moment, sorry!

For me upgrade worked very smoothly. Here are the steps that i followed.

1) I copied the newspaper zip theme via ftp to the my themes folder.
2) Activated another theme.
3) Deleted old newspaper theme from FTP console (filezilla).
4) Extracted the new theme zip file.
5) Activated the new theme from Themes panel.
6) Deactivated Visual composer > deleted > uploaded new VC plugin and activated it back.

Beneath the Main Menu, there’s a sort of gradient fill like a “grey line”

http://ea1.a87.myftpupload.com/

How can I get rid of that?

Thanks!

Before you start advising me to read tutorials ( https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/) about correct method to upload new updates or saying to disable other plugins except for VC, Let me tell you that I am not new to this and have successfully done this before ( also while patching 7.3 to 7.4)

So, I used the given patch to upgrade from 7.4 to 7.5 via FTP ( I have been suing Filezilla for this from very ling time) as the upgrade completed. My website stopped working and gave this error

The example.com page isn’t working

example.com is currently unable to handle this request.
HTTP ERROR 500″

So, I tried to re-upload each modified files ( one by one manually) with old ( 7.4) versions and every time I checked if any particular file is causing this. But I couldn’t find the issue.
I also tried disabling the plugin, putting default .htaccess file, and functions.php but nothing worked.

Finally, I had to restore the whole site with my old backups and only then my web site started working.

I have also gone through various threads today, and many other users are facing this issue. Please tell me what should I do to patch the newest version/

🙁
Thank you.

Hi Catalin:

That was great, thanks.

Next question:

I’m using this CSS to remove H2 titles from pages:

http://ea1.a87.myftpupload.com/calendar

But it also removes it from the author pages:

http://ea1.a87.myftpupload.com/author/lisa_panke

What code can I use for the H2 to remove it only from “regular” pages, but not the author pages?

Well I did it exactly, via FTP. Maybe I should upload files again, but as I said I couldn’t find it. What’s the name of it? “[tagdiv] Authors Box” is the old one, and there isn’t any other.

A widget. Some people (myself included) had trouble upgrading, the best method is uploading the new theme version fully via FTP to the server. Then you should be able to find the widget in the widget panel.

I have similar problem but I have access only by ftp. Link below is seen on every page.
wp booster error:
td_api_base::mark_used_on_page : a component with the ID: tdx_options is not set.
/home/newcrew/ftp/agri24-pl/wp-content/themes/Newspaper/includes/wp_booster/td_api.php

wp booster error:
Missing parameter: ‘file’
/home/newcrew/ftp/agri24-pl/wp-content/themes/Newspaper/includes/wp_booster/td_autoload_classes.php

What can I do?

Hi Everyone,

I am having issues with uploading my Newspaper 7 theme to WP. I made the purchase today and when I go through the process of uploading the zip folder I get the error –

Are you sure you want to do this?

Please try again.

I am using MAMP locally so don’t have the option to upload via FTP. I have also followed the video tutorial so I am uploading the correct zip folder.

Any suggestions? Any help would be very much appreciated, thanks

Hi,

Please send an email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide wp-admin and ftp access. From what I see you use tagDiv woo plugin which unfortunately are not supported anymore. Paste also a link to this topic.

Thanks!

@orcn
Please check this guide and update the theme like @Edward suggested via ftphttps://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/

Hi,

Just a note for your update steps, please clear all the caches and purge your files if you use CDN after you update the theme and the plugins. If not you will have caching issues.
Regarding the theme’s plugins update, the procedure is the same like for Visual Composer – https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-visual-composer-plugin/ Of course you can do this also via ftp, there is not problem.
The Mobile Theme is an optional plugin. It is not a required plugin, so you don’t need to use it if you don’t want too, the theme still have a responsive layout and a mobile version like in version 6. You can read more about Mobile Theme plugin here – https://forum.tagdiv.com/the-mobile-theme/ The Mobile Theme files cannot be overwritten via child theme.

1. No, the Social Counter settings will not be removed, you only need to check if it is properly configured – https://forum.tagdiv.com/tagdiv-social-counter-tutorial-2/
2. The latest Speed Booster version is 4.5 so please make sure you use it with the latest theme version.
3. The Mobile Theme comes with it’s own template and Mobile Editor so you can add content for your pages there and they will not be empty – http://screencast.com/t/4XYf2A8pXM The Mobile Theme will not work with Visual Composer elements and it doesn’t render tagdiv blocks. Like I said above if you want the same content like on desktop also for mobile devices, just do not activate Mobile Theme plugin and it will be the same. If you want to use the plugin you will need to add content to your pages, create other menus and check the Mobile Theme settings from Theme Panel.

Thanks!
