after my last Newsmag theme update, I’ve applied again the code modification you’ve suggested in order to display the 970×90 custom ad under the category post grird (please read the above reported previous thread exchanges. It worked perfectly until the last theme update: now, the same modification doesnt’ work anymore (please see the malfunctioning at http://43b.60a.myftpupload.com/category/sport/calcio/)
What I have to do to display that custom advertising ad_box in the desired space i.e. under the category’s post grid?

This theme does not include that plugin, it’s a separate thing. Good idea to post questions on the support page/forum for that plugin for faster help in debugging problems with it.

Make sure you only use ONE type of caching plugin. Make sure you have enough memory allocated to WordPress before doing so. Make sure you read the tutorial in the TagDiv theme docs on “suggestions” on how to setup a caching plugin to best work with theme — deactivate ALL plugins except for Visual Composer as one step in debugging problems with caching plugin.

I’m sure TagDiv will offer some advice but they are closed weekends their local time.

Did you define the path to /wp-super-cache/ in your wp-config.php file?

If it’s totally borked, you might have to remove the plugin via FTP, then remove the lines it might have added to your htaccess or wp-config.php file, then start over, perhaps using different caching plugin if not compatible with your setup.

Some folks here have had success using various caching plugins including zencache, etc.

I am not a coder but I could try editing the CSS style sheet through FTP if that helps.

I deleted my old newspaper folder via FTP and I got it successfully updated using new theme file from my themeforest account. The issues regarding pagination on home page and an awkward alignment of logo on header got fixed already.

Still trying to figure out a way to get rid of the drop shadow. Re entered the code into custom code area but its of no effect.

with the update of Newsmag theme to versione 2.3.5, the modification indicated at the http://screencast.com/t/yOEz5TC7x to file Newsmag/includes/td_config.php doesn’t work anymore. Even if I’ve set the ‘show_child_cat’ to 10, theme still shows only 5 child categories as you can see at http://43b.60a.myftpupload.com/.
Hereafter my code modification:

How I can get again to show more than 5 default child categories in the top megamenù?
I’m using a Newsmag child theme and I’ve made only this max category number modification to my Newsmag-child/includes/td_config.php file.

Hi there,
the modifications you’ve indicated some time ago to the file Newsmag/includes/wp_booster/wp-admin/content-metaboxes/td_set_post_settings.php (as shown at http://screencast.com/t/YcimFCB4W) worked for me like a charm until the update of Newsmag theme to the Version 2.3.5. The purpose was and still is to hide the sidebar selection combo to every user but to administrator. Now, even if the suggested modification has been applied, it doesn’t work anymore and the sidebar selection combo is “dangerously” visible and selectable from everyone. This way one (author, editor, …) could remove a “vital” sidebar from the system! How can I get the correct behaviour?
I’m using a Newsmag Child theme with only this modification to my Newsmag-child/includes/wp_booster/wp-admin/content-metaboxes/td_set_post_settings.php

I already did the “Regenerate Thumbnails”.And i saw on my ftp that it’s oki.

You can make backups several ways, and good to spend the time to learn — only YOU can manage your site content, backups, and security.

a) learn to download/backup the mysql dbase from your hosting panel for safe backup of content
b) learn to use FTP to download all the folders from your website, primarily things like images, plugins, theme, wp-config.php and htaccess files
c) learn to use the “export” settings in the WordPress admin panel
d) you can export some THEME settings from theme panel by copy/pasting some elements into a text file you save to your hard drive.
e) your hosting provder might have a one click backup/download option.
f) if you hire somebody or use a servvice, I can recommend the DUPLICATOR plugin which is a bit complex, but makes full snapshot which you can even move to another hosting provider if needed (advanced use and you’d likely need to hire somebody to implement for you).

There are also some paid services which install a plugin and then render a full snapshot of your content and dbase via php and then give you a download link to save that.

The 500 error is usually a server side error meaning that there is something wrong but the server couldn’t provide more information about the problem. It is an general error usually caused by configuration issues with the websites programming, PHP or system permissions.

If you can’t manage to solve this issue try to make a new clean install via ftp: https://forum.tagdiv.com/newsmag-install-via-ftp/
Before making any changes in theme’s files it’s a good practice to backup the data base and the current wp-install. This is a security measure and in case something goes wrong you can always get back to the previous install. Also you can test your customizations an a local wp install, made on your computer.

Um, maybe download the files from your ThemeForest account where you bought it?

Just login to your account, and go to “downloads.”

If you download the “all files” — it will be in the /plugins/ folder 🙂

Good to make back-ups of your entire working site via FTP from time to time, especially prior to making changes/updates of any kind.
