Hello all,

I need help. I bought the newspaper a few days ago upon the recommendation of a very successful blogger but boy how disappointed i’m.

I chose the News demo without installing the content but just the layout and could you imagine i can’t add a simple sidebar to the homepage. i wrote to tagdiv and bogdan replied sending me a youtube video. i watched it and tried to do exactly what the video says but in vain.

when i drag blocks to the site, they don’t stick and nothing happens. it’s as though i didn’t drag anything there.

normally there was supposed to be step by step instruction as to how to replicate exactly the demo you choose to install but not so.

Someone has installed the News demo and could help me?

My site url is http://www.coolbabystuffsite.com see what a mess it has become after installing the News demo.

Lastly after each new login in the backend, i receive a message asking me to activate it even though i have done it many times already. And each the activation code is accepted. So what’s the issue here?

Thanks for your help.

Hello neevin2017,

You should import the demo without content, according to our documentation here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/installing-demos/

Thanks for the message!

Hi Simon,
Thanks for the instructions.
But what we have to do with posts created with VC?
If we are using tagdiv composer we are getting wider posts, and also the demos are not working properly. This made me loose trust on tag div in future updates…

sample post with issue https://www.stufeed.com/tech/airtel-makes-free-unlimited-outgoing-calls-local-std-all-mobile-calls-with-daily-2-gb-3g4g-data-free/

Its terrible..

even I am not getting any option to edit those posts with tagdiv.. so how can i activate the tag div composer to realign my post pages?

also the mobile plugin has issues.
I have wasted much time in installing the theme by all the ways but nothing worked properly.

Only way is to uninstall/deactivate tagdiv composer and enable only VC

Hello,

I tried installing newspaper 8 on my website today, and it installs. The problem is when I try to install the composer. It says:
The plugin does not have a valid header.
Downloading install package from https://www……
Download failed. Not Found

Return to tagDiv plugins panel

I checked the theme directory it has the plugin in the plugins directory. I also tried uploading it manually and it activates, but once I try to download a demo, it deactivates and gets deleted.

I deactivated all plugins and everything from the website and the same issue keeps occurring.
I thought it was permissions problem so I set my directory permissions as follows:
sudo chown -R www-data:www-data /var/www
sudo chmod -R 775 /var/www

that didn’t change a thing though.

What should I do?

Hello ervatne,

Please notice that our demos are too easy to install. You should consult our documentation here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/newsmag-installing-demos/ Also, if the problem persists, you should check the system status to be according to our documentation here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/system-status-parameters-guide/ and then you should check if you have some permission for installing at your dedicated server. All of these things should have to be discussed with your hosting provider.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the message!

Hello Cavemantraining,

You simply change the demo from your Theme panel. Switch it to another and import it without content. To be safe, you should make a full backup to your database and then install the demo according to our documentation -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/installing-demos/

Thank for your understanding!

Hello, thanks for the reply. I’m starting to understand now that the demo must be doing something other than changing just the Theme Panel settings. I basically installed the them with the black demo on a development site, not the live one, and copied the settings over.

I’ve been able to adjust the CSS to get the black background, but that does nothing for the rest of the look. I’m guessing installing a demo includes another css file?

How can I get the full Black Demo look on my live site without overwriting anything? It’s a live site that I don’t want to be messing with or adding anything extra if you know what I mean?

thanks in advance.

Hello wsikes,

There is no any specific plugin used in that demo. Please do not confuse the demo with the functionality of a plugin because the demo is not equal with the plugin. Please keep in mind that each of our demos has a specific style which is applied on your end when the demo is installed. For more information about our demo installing, please check the documentation here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/installing-demos/

Thanks for your understanding!

Hello,

Thank you for choosing our theme. Unfortunately there are no videos in Portuguese. We only create content in English. You can find instructional videos here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCOT1RiNysIPCTPSnVZskwtQ
The theme documentation is English as well and can be found here:
https://forum.tagdiv.com/newspaper-theme-documentation/
The only official guides created by us are in English.
If you install a theme demo, all posts will be created in English. You will have to install a demo without the demo content if you do not want the predefined content on your site: https://forum.tagdiv.com/installing-demos/

Thank you!

Hi,

Maybe this is just a misunderstanding. I am assuming that you are using the demo Video page template form Visual composer – https://www.screencast.com/t/doU04d0vF
If that is the case, the page will look normally, no demo style will be loaded. To achieve the same look, you need to install the demo, or style the elements yourself similarly to the demo style. For example a background can be set for the Big Grid like this
https://www.screencast.com/t/DCTgRaar6aCa
https://www.screencast.com/t/XSVcYYpe6Xbb
Installing the demo will provide the homepage and the custom styling, as well as it’s own settings in the theme panel.
Please correct me if I misunderstand.

Thanks

Hello,

Please increase your system status parameters as this guide suggests: https://forum.tagdiv.com/system-status-parameters-guide/
Also disable all plugins and clear all caching before installing a demo to make sure the plugins do not interfere with the process.
Then try to install it again.

Thank you!

When I use that code (from https://www.screencast.com/t/s4Eq4Jdfdr) the importing of the theme settings work fine.

However, if you try it like this:
1. Use the default theme and then install the Magazine-demo (without content).
2. Navigate to Theme Panel > Import/Export.
3. First of all the code in “EXPORT THEME SETTINGS” does not look the same as the code from the td_panel_settings.txt-file (which it teqnically should do).
4. Just as an example, navigate to Theme Colors and change the Top Bar Background color to yellow.
5. Save and go back to Theme Panel > Import/Export and copy the code under EXPORT THEME SETTINGS.
6. Now uninstall the Magazine-demo from Theme Panel > Install demos.
7. Finally navigate once more to Theme Panel > Import/Export and paste the copyed code.

This should now at least make the top-bar yellow. However it doesn´t. It seems the export-code under Theme Panel > Import/Export doesn´t take the demo-settings into account. All I´m getting if I´m doing it this way is the very first standard settings code that was enabled before installing the demo-theme.

Could it be a bug? I´m only looking for a safe way to back up my theme settings, that´s why I´m so annoying about this 🙂

Hi,

When you uninstall a demo this will remove all the settings and content that was added. It will leave the website as it was before installing it. The theme panel settings can be found in each of the demo folder
https://www.screencast.com/t/s4Eq4Jdfdr
You can copy the theme panel settings from the demo and import them without actually installing the demo. This should change the theme panel settings as if the demo was installed. I have tried importing the theme panel settings from the magazine demo on the default one, and it changes the theme panel and the website accordingly
https://www.screencast.com/t/pcKm30gU
https://www.screencast.com/t/zfDUHYPQaO7
Maybe you have caching installed or something is affecting the import process if this is not working for you.

Thanks

Hi,

Hi,

It seems the demo has not installed properly. It should look and have the same style as the demo. In this case the style and classes that are specific to the demo are not loaded. Please uninstall it and install it again
https://forum.tagdiv.com/installing-demos/
Also check the theme system status and make modifications to the parameters mentioned in this guide, if necessary
https://forum.tagdiv.com/system-status-parameters-guide/

Thanks

Hi,

That I understand. I did a few tests last night and I can´t get the demo-color etc. to get exported. I´m doing the following:

1. Installing the demo-theme that I want (this changes the theme colors etc.)
2. Navigating to the export theme settings page and cpying the export code.
3. Uninstalling the demo-theme. The site reverts back to the previous settings.
4. Navigating to the import theme settings page and pastes the settings I just copyed.

This should, if I understand correctly, teqnically at least change all the things in the theme panel (colors, translations, etc.) to the demo-theme-settings (that I exported). However, it doesn´t. Nothing happens to colours, translations etc. Everything stayes the same. As if the backup data (that I copyed) actually was taken from the old settings that rests behind the demo-layout, rather than from the actuall demo-layout.

Could this be the case or are my settings messed up somehow? Thanks

MrOrsh
tagDiv Member

Ah, so that´s why they couldn´t be changed from the theme panel 🙂

I was trying to recreate the layout of the News Magazine demo on my current install but couldn´t figure that one out. I realise I could just install the demo and go with that, however that will delete all my custom translations and font-settings etc. So will see how I´ll go about it.

Are there any drawbacks installing one of the demos and using that as the theme from there on? Compared to using the standard theme layout and changing it to mimic the demo that I want (which will also let me keep all the font/translation/etc-settings)?

Hi,

You can create the layout you want using the available elements from Visual composer. Here you can see all the available blocks and big grids that you can be used
https://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/block-1/
https://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/big-grid-1/
With these and many more you can create unique designs for your website. Please also take a look at the theme demo’s which demonstrate the capabilities of the theme and what can be achieved through it

I installed the travel demo style when installing Newspaper theme.
I like the overall style but “Sue Ellen Francisco” feels bit unreadable.
How can I remove this font?
Open Sans and Roboto are also loaded by default.
I want to keep just one font (Open Sans), how do I remove Roboto reference?

Hi,

Please provide more details about the problems that are preventing you from installing a demo. Installing a demo is not a complicated process – https://forum.tagdiv.com/installing-demos/ and it can be achieved with a few clicks.
Please check the theme system status and make modifications to the parameters mentioned in this guide, if necessary, then try to install a demo again
https://forum.tagdiv.com/system-status-parameters-guide/

Thanks

Hello,

We are sorry for any inconvenience you have encountered using our theme. Thanks for reaching out to us.
Can you please provide more details on why you are not able to get the theme to show as the default demo. Our demos are installed very easily with the click of a button: https://forum.tagdiv.com/newsmag-installing-demos/
Is this process not working on your site? Are you getting any errors when installing a demo?
Please provide a link to your site and all the relevant details so we can replicate the issue and give you a solution as soon as possible.

Thank you for understanding!

Hi,

If you install a demo without content, only the design settings will be imported. You will have to recreate the homepage for example using the same elements from the demo, and then the settings will apply. If you install the demo with content this will import some dummy data and everything is predefined, you would just have to replace (not edit) this dummy data with your own content – https://forum.tagdiv.com/installing-demos/
If you want to use an ad in the page structure you can use an Ad box element and select from your available ads
https://www.screencast.com/t/v0MDdAuVu
The ad code must be entered in Theme panel->Ads in the respective section
More about the ad capabilities of the theme here – https://forum.tagdiv.com/header-ads-adsense/
Here is a tutorial about creating your page in Visual composer and using it as Homepage

I’m trying to install the demo with full content. I’m specifically trying to install the college newspaper demo. But the images are not being installed/uploaded into media. I get a prompt telling me there’s an error. Please help. The demo installs without the images.

Hi,

The Revolution slider plugin as well as the Visual composer editor plugin are provided pre-activated in the theme package, and you do not have to activate either of these. You already have full access to the plugin features and you can use it without any need to enter a activation key. Updates for these plugins and the other plugins bundled in the theme package will be provided along with the theme updates. You do not have to worry about activation messages or update prompts.
Probably that error message appears when you are trying to activate Visual composer, but as explained you do not have to do that.
Please check the theme status and make modifications to the parameters mentioned in this guide if necesarry
https://forum.tagdiv.com/system-status-parameters-guide/
The problem with the theme panel can be caused by that, try and follow the guide and check if the issue is resolved.
By installing one of the demo slider you will have the options to use a ready made slide on your website. You will just have to use your own categories from which to pick posts to display. These sliders can be seen in the live demos, like this one for example, the Politics demo
https://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper_politics/
Unfortunately the Visual composer editor can be used only for creating static pages
https://forum.tagdiv.com/homepage-how-to-build-and-set-it/
For a blog you can choose from the available modules to display your articles
https://www.screencast.com/t/fLJWLi6CLH9
https://www.screencast.com/t/6cyXmdrJQHT
Please let us know if you have any more questions or need further clarifications.

Hi,

Please explain in more details the problem you are having. From what I understand there are missing options in the theme panel or missing entirely. Some screenshots would be very useful to describe the issue, if it is possible.
After finishing installing the theme, you need to install the Visual composer editor to be able to use the page building elements available.
Here you can find some useful information about installing the plugin and how to use it
https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-visual-composer-plugin/
https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-use-visual-composer/
Then you can use all the available blocks and create the layout you want for your website
https://www.screencast.com/t/4HM9yXE23
The Revolution slider is provided in the theme package and can be installed like this
https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-install-revolution-slider-v5/
It would be best to import a predefined demo slider, provided in the theme package as well
https://forum.tagdiv.com/import-revolution-sliders-on-demos/
The Revolution slider is a very complex plugin with a huge amount of options, and can be difficult to master entirely. Here you can find all the official documentation regarding the slider
https://www.themepunch.com/revslider-doc/slider-revolution-documentation/
And here you can find all the available theme documentation
https://forum.tagdiv.com/newspaper-theme-documentation/
Please let us know if you have any more questions or need further clarifications.

Thanks
