Helo, guys, how are you? I’m trying to convince the dev I’m working with that I don’t need a plugin change. I love Newspaper, and I’d do anything to continue using it on my website. But, I’m struggling with speed issues and mobile optimization, and the dev thinks we require a brand-new redesign, with a new and lighter theme.

To prove him wrong, I’m trying to set up preloaded fonts. Since the font request is one of my main concerns at the moment. Do you have a step-by-step tutorial to do that?

My site is https://www.topensandoemviajar.com.

Thanks a lot.

Hello!
We are developing a news site based on this theme, I would like to customize the color of the top menu which currently appears black to me and I would like to turn it into white.

Hi,

Page speed optimization results are influenced by a large number of factors like your server performance, the number of external scripts loading on the website (ads, fonts, tracking codes, external resources, plugins), the size of the images, the number of elements on a specific page, caching solution, and many, many more.

Now, also, you have a good score for mobile https://i.imgur.com/Rs31PSB.png
There are many optimization guides provided by our users here in the forum, some made by us; you could check some of them

Hi,

Did you deactivate the mobile theme and amp plugins and clear the cache? Please provide some screenshots.

Thank you!

We are using it already… we are using the AMP version that comes with the mobile theme plugin.. but it’s not taking into account the views received on AMP pages.

Hello!

Edit the homepage with the tagdiv Composer, click on the mobile viewport: https://www.screencast.com/t/XDQJedlggSB click on the column: https://app.screencast.com/ATWENrNtBbP9y and delete this value: https://app.screencast.com/AjUuWuUoH6mOS
Delete also the border color from there.
Change the theme accent color: https://app.screencast.com/684Kg0zM6wO8V

Thank you!

Hello!

You should use the AMP plugin together with the mobile theme: https://forum.tagdiv.com/the-mobile-theme/

Hello,

You have the mobile theme plugin activated; please disable it.
Using our theme, you can choose from 3 mobile versions
-> mobile responsive => https://www.screencast.com/t/oJ2ShOp47
-> mobile theme plugin => https://forum.tagdiv.com/the-mobile-theme/
-> mobile page => https://tagdiv.com/newspaper-10-3-7-update-brings-customizable-and-fast-mobile-pages/ The option that you need to use.
Suppose you created the mobile pages with tagDiv Composer. In that case, when you install the Mobile Theme plugin, your pages will be overwritten by the plugin (the mobile theme comes with its templates for page, post, category, etc, so your current templates from the desktop theme will get converted to the mobile theme layout, the page content is made without builders in mobile editor => https://www.screencast.com/t/xbgZG8kH also, the options that are provided to edit the mobile theme version are limited (this keeps the things simple)).
This is a video about Responsive Newspaper Theme, AMP & Mobile Theme, Mobile Pages & Templates -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SpGkOnJeNZY.
So, the mobile responsive is what you see when that you select the viewport on phone => https://www.screencast.com/t/matV17hH, so some settings may apply for each viewport(where is the border blue), and others are not(where the border is black).
The mobile page has the mobile templates from Cloud Library => https://www.screencast.com/t/YCcZ8rL8
The Mobile responsive version of the theme and the mobile page editor can be edit with tagDiv Composer, the mobile theme plugin cannot.
For example, you can have the mobile theme plugin activated and use the mobile page/mobile responsive version for the homepage/pages, but for the categories pages/404 page, you can’t use the mobile page/mobile responsive version if you have the mobile theme plugin activated.
So, if you want to design the pages with tagDiv Composer, you can use the mobile page or mobile responsive version.
Also, please check this topic https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/amp-pages-not-working-well-with-this-theme/

Hello,

I noticed on all my NewsPaper Themed websites (7 websites with different structures), that since Google update on their Core Web Vitals Assessment, the status on Mobile is Failed because of Interaction to Next Paint (INP). On Desktop it’s fined.

I’m using WP Rocket to make sure everything is optimized but it looks like it’s not enough to fix the issue.

I’m sure your team is looking into that, and maybe you have an estimated time of update to fix this ?

Please don’t answer anything like “have a look at those links to optimize speed”, nor write me “speed is not part of our assistance”.

Thanks

Hello! I’ve just started using the newspaper theme and I saw a big difference on what I published via the tagdiv editor and what is visible on the mobile version. I tried clear cache and everything I could think of, the website is mallvirtual.ro, any kind of help is very welcome!

Tentarei ajudar

if amp deprecated, So should I deactivate tagDiv Mobile Theme plugin and amp plugin?

Bettina

Hello @daddynovela!

Some options are responsive, but others are not. We were thinking that time was not that necessary. If you really need any settings to be responsive, then I suggest you use two elements: one for desktop and one for mobile, and every element from the tagdiv composer can be hidden. Hide the element for mobile in the desktop viewport and reverse.

Thank you!

Bettina

Hello Ameet!

You can convert the desktop page or create a new one with a different layout.
There is no other URL when you check the mobile page on your mobile phone.

Thank you!

Hello,

I don’t recommend to using amp, because it is deprecated -> https://developer.bigcommerce.com/docs/storefront/wordpress/platform-integration/enabling-amp
For the mobile theme you can customize it from Theme Panel-> Mobile Theme -> footer => https://i.imgur.com/7ABDfSe.png You can’t edit it with tagDiv Composer.

Hi, after copying my TagDiv Composer staging page to live, I noticed that the look is different. I tried and checked it for hours, but I can’t find the reason. The theme versions are the same, the CSS is the same, the tagdiv composer code is a exact copy but still the look is different. How can this be?

This is the staging:
Staging Site

The look and the spacing is perfect, on desktop and mobile:
Desktop: https://imgur.com/a/TjIyBeG
Mobile: https://imgur.com/a/ajhUSTn

This is the live:

The background has white gaps and the spacing is completely different:

Thanks in advance for any help!
