Well i started with deleting the images from some blocks (less requests and better text to code ratio). Try to use only plugins if u really need them keep them as few as possible. Optimizing and compressing the images you post is something to do there’s several plugins wich can do that i use ewwww image optimizer (I should mention this plugin is not supported by the theme plugin TD Speedbooster).

Now the following things i recommand only if you know what you are doing because this can completely break your website. So what i did more was minifying all the css and js files i used and combined them both seperated ofcourse into one file. Created “above the fold inline css” and Preloading the combined ccs file and loading the js file asynced at the bottom and minified the html ….. thats basicly most things u can do too speed up your website.

According to preview ver.8.8. – you were right! Clear of cache – refreshed the picture.

According to PHP setting – if I set 256Mb – is it speed up the template run?
Could you recommend some tricks how to speed up page run for this template?

P.S. I know about Google Page Speed recommendation. I’m interested to optimize this template for fast run 🙂 Do you have a manual about this?

Thanks for answering. I use a minification plugin (fast velocity minify) with Newspaper for speed and I have seen that using the single template 17 causes Gzip compression issues while I have enabled it by default (Gtmetrix says enable gzip compression: Compressing /wp-content/uploads/fvm/out/header-dd714063-1528369985.min.css could save 907.9KiB (87% reduction), see http://prntscr.com/js1eew), which does not happen with the inbuilt theme single templates, or even other parts of the site, except single page with template 17 enabled. I tried Autoptimize and the same issue happened. I tested single template 15 and the same issue did not occur. Could you be able to help me figure out what the issue is? I found out this is what is making the page to grow three times. (The average size of my single posts with current speed optimizations is around 600kb-750kb. I have reverted to template 8 for now, but still, I want to make template 17 work).

Hello biglipper,

Please notice that the images which come from Instagram can’t be controlled by our theme. All of these are delivered to the natural dimensions of the Instagram and the theme only resize them. Regarding your images from Latest Articles section, it seems to work as expected because the thumbs are there and work properly. If you want to reduce the image size, you should consult our useful guide from here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-make-the-site-faster/ and check the optimize images section because there you will know how you can do this with your images.

Thanks for your understanding!

Main ways to optimize your site for ‘speed’ include optimizing images, proper caching, fast server with multiple access points, limit number of thumbs loaded per page in modules, limit number of external sources, consider next gen tech like PHP 7.2 with opcache, mod_pagespeed and HTTP/2 support. Obviously anything you can do on your end like not using external fonts (use web safe browser fonts), avoid “query to external source” stuff like how many social shares, weather, jetpack, etc. — all impact “speed.”

Speed has been a factor for quite some time now, it’s not entirely new.

Have you checked your posts using Lighthouse and checked what you can do now to address issues with your site? Good place to start.

Hello georgelaskos,

Please notice that the speed of your website depends on how well your site is optimized. Notice that is not a simple task and if you do not have any experience in this regard you will do not bring good results for the theme. Also, notice that we have a speed optimization tutorial but this is addressed only to advanced users. So, if you follow the steps which are presented in this tutorial here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-make-the-site-faster/ you can increase the page speed loading and if you are not aware of the steps in this regard, please consider hiring a freelancer/developer to help you because the speed optimization services are not covered by our support policy, as you can read here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/support-policy-2/ Check our documentation here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/requirements-for-newspaper/ regarding on dedicated server to fit our requirements.

Unfortunately, our theme does not have such an option to minify the style.css file and we cannot recommend any plugins with this functionality because is not tested with our theme. For minifying this file, we are using CloudFlare for our demo and works fine. If you want to read other views from our users, please check this topic -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/tip-how-to-easily-minify-your-css-without-breaking-your-site/

One of our top members here on the forum wrote his own optimization tutorial here:
https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/tutorial-chriss-custom-optimizations-for-functions-php-etc/ and here -> https://www.infophilic.com/get-almost-100-pagespeed-newspaper-theme/

Basically, these are the theme requirements

Thanks for your understanding!

Hi,

I searched the documentation but couldn’t find a list of optimized Ad sizes for the Newspaper theme.
I mesured by myself that an ad in the middle of a post should be 696px wild but what about top articles? Header? Sidebar? etc.
I acknowledge that the theme resize the ads but I’d like to have the right size at first.

Could you provide me with a list of the right sizes for Ads?

Thanks

Trying to remove Google Fonts from my website. I did this via the theme options, but it seems that Google Fonts is still loading. Also using Autoptimize to delete Google Fonts but still loading. Help would be appreciated!

Hi,

Actually I have not seen these warnings before, why would they assume this is a known issue of the theme is beyond me. Those warnings could be caused if you used letters or other characters in the theme excerpt fields
https://www.screencast.com/t/3RUeGG68LQ
Please check all the modules and see if that is the case. If you used the tagDiv composer which also provides the excerpt fields for modules, check them as well in your pages
https://www.screencast.com/t/BlZLoLB9D9r

In terms of loading speed, there are many topics and guides that you read and optimize your website. Some of them here
https://forum.tagdiv.com/cache-plugin-install-and-configure/
https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-make-the-site-faster/
https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/score-100100-pagespeed-with-newspaper-wordpress-theme/
https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/newspaper-theme-speedify-your-website/
https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/tutorial-chriss-custom-optimizations-for-functions-php-etc/
We also recommend this Cloudflare configuration
https://forum.tagdiv.com/cloudflare-cdn/

Of course the speed is also affected by plugins, server, and other aspects. You will have to analyze them and optimize the website for a better result.

Thanks

Hello,
It is this margin that affects the site, there is no extra div. The code comes from autoptimize so I cannot pinpoint it https://www.screencast.com/t/br0tE3EMlA
You can try to add this css in your custom code section of the theme panel:

.td_smart_list_2 .td-item{
margin-bottom:0;
}

Thank you!

Hi,

@avinashiitd
If anything the theme and theme plugins are more optimized in the latest theme version, than previous versions. Please check the theme changelog (bottom of the page) to see what changes and fixes have been made from 8.7.2 to 8.7.5
https://themeforest.net/item/newspaper/5489609
Also in terms of GDPR, the 8.7.5 version is compliant.

So you should consider updating to the latest version
https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/
If that error is still displayed despite the theme system status set correctly, you could also contact your hosting and mention it to them. Maybe there still is a limitation somewhere.

Thanks

Sorry i found it:
https://forum.tagdiv.com/the-mobile-theme/

Page builder elements – The “Mobile theme” is designed for users who want to optimize the page content for mobile devices or they want to display fewer / different elements on mobiles. For optimal performance we removed the page builder dependency; this means you cannot use the page builder elements for the “Mobile theme” pages. If you want to display the same elements on both mobile and desktop, don’t use the mobile theme, the main theme is already capable of this with it’s responsive design for mobiles.

Hello @tmaghrebt

It’s showing server response time of 2.6 seconds. Try to fix it. You can also try:

    Adding proper Expiry headers.
Reducing the number of requests per page.

Also, I can see you are using Autoptimize plugin on your site to minify the scripts. If you found it helpful use it but make sure you disable minification at CloudFlare’s end.

Hope this will help you.

It has been kind of strange, I deactivated a couple of plugins, Autooptimize for one, and suddenly I could see colours. Then I found out, that it was only the browsers I am logget into the webside, I can see the colours. I reconstructed some widges that were missing. Somme hours later I saw that the other browsers were starting to show text- and background-colours – but not on the frontpage, only the categorypages and posts. I will waite to see if things will be ok. At the former updat of Newspaper some small things were changet at the site, for instance the search button in the menu, had mowed one line down and to the left – after a week or two the problems suddenly went away. But I have newer seen anything like that, at there could be a problem othe places than the Theme. I will follow up on this, and hopefully I need no help. Best Regards Poul Mikael Allarp

hello @Gerald

AMP and mobile theme both are different.

The mobile theme is designed especially for mobile. It shows simplified site for the mobile users. That loads a bit faster than a website without Mobile theme.

AMP is Google’s project that optimizes pages on SERP only.

You can use both AMP and mobile theme at the same time. If you have a news website, I recommend using AMP.

Thank you for your understanding.

Hi Guys,

I have (at the beginning of the month) submitted my all my .xml sitemaps to google index, signed up to analytics, search console, tag manager, google news, and google plus, and while all my pages are showing up on google none of my articles seem to be searchable on google.com.

Here is what i am hoping to achieve:
1. Be able to copy a sentence or paragraph on any of our articles and paste it into google search, and hopefully it will display on the search results. Currently this is not happening.

I have Yoast SEO installed, and have optimized settings on back-end.

Here is an example:
http://mycalgary.com/real-estate/2018-eau-claire-real-estate-trends/
Is a real estate article written by a contributor, when i google the article name it does not show up google.

2. Quick question is there any issues with the page builder and shortcodes and how google sees this page, (pre/post render)?

Hi Edward,
yes WordPress 4.9.6

and the untested plugins are:

  • Table of Contents Plus
  • WP-Optimize
  • Limit Login Attempts
  • WP-Optimize

but the problem appeared before installing them.
Today I can not spend more time on this issue, can we continue tomorrow?
Thanks Edward

Hello

Emmm….

I have a big trouble

Since i use this Theme,The web site becomes very slow, and i don’t know how to optimize.

I use Google Page Speed,But it doesn’t work
google speed

1.You konw,In China,some foreign website can’t open such as google.com

So,I guess if is this reason.

2.On the other hand,If there are too many JS&CSS files to make the web site become solw?

3.And,I want to konw why there are so many pictures,I just want to show the only one picture.
too many pictures

4.The line of code is too long ?
the code is too long

These are all what I guess……

I like this theme, don’t want to change theme.

But,My ability is not deep

SO…I realy need your help, only you can help me o(╥﹏╥)o

Thanks a lot

If you can’t understand what i saying,This is Chinese version
