There are a few theme settings that can increase database and resources consumption.
The largest data table the theme keeps in the database is the theme panel and the backups for it. From what I remember these are called td_010 and td_010_settings. What you could do is to adjust the number of backups, by default there are 5 of them. You could set it to 1 backup here -> https://prnt.sc/qZBjZo2p3bVu Other than this, it will require manually cleaning the rest of the autoloaded options.
Check if you are using ajax pagination, mega menu many blocks (the theme is making a query for each block in part and if you are using mega menu each element as mega menu makes queries, also ajax pagination make quires to database), also make sure that you use lazyload for images.
Also, check if you have enabled the post view count per articles, this is using ajax and request extra resources, also all filters base post view count consume extra resources (all popular filters).
In addition, it’s a good idea to identify what’s consuming your server resources. Tools like Query Monitor and Code Profiler can help you pinpoint high CPU or resource usage caused by plugins, themes, or database queries.

1. I’m glad that the problem has been resolved.
2. I just tested using a default theme from wordspress and without any plugins and the settings are the same there is no option for selecting the “link to media file” option. Also, using the same steps as you did in the video provided the images should be open in popup in full width – https://i.imgur.com/j9ykgqG.png – https://i.imgur.com/Rp5bFsS.png – https://i.imgur.com/5s5JXwL.jpeg so I believe in your case is from a plugin that was interfering on images to optimize the images and make the website faster.

If you already used the theme settings to optimize the results, then what I can do further is to suggest some plugins – https://wordpress.org/plugins/aaa-option-optimizer/ and https://wordpress.org/plugins/autoload-optimizer/ but before use them, make sure that you have a complete database backup.

Thank you for the quick reply, but your response really doesn’t help.
The problem is not with td_011 which I already wrote is less than 50KB. td_011_log is the problem, which varies between 1MB and 1,5MB. Following your guidelines from previous posts regarding the same issue did nothing, as I wrote before.
It is most definitely not a database issue. The database has been fully optimized, transients cleaned, post revisions and so on.
Even if it was, the link you have provided redirects to some hosting service, so please double check it is correct.

I’m writing the solution here as it might be helpful for other users who are using the SiteGround “Speed Optimizer” plugin: go to the plugin settings → Media → Media Optimization → disable the “Lazy Load Media” option under the “Media” section. The gallery now works correctly on all devices. Thank you.

These EWWW Image Optimizer recommendations are good https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-make-the-site-faster/ but interfere with the general modal image option (https://forum.tagdiv.com/modal-window/).
Both JS WebP Rewriting and Lazy Load cause the same effect: the posts’ image links lose the “td-modal-image” class.
It also happens when other plugins enable LazyLoad for the images.

I cleared the cache and deactivated the SiteGround “Speed Optimizer” plugin, and now the image galleries are working perfectly on both the desktop and mobile versions.
I’ll now look into whether I can continue using the SiteGround plugin with different settings.

This problem occur when you are logged in? If not, then the problem is related to some options from cache plugin that are apply when you are not logged in. Also, please check if you are using any plugin to optimize the images, is possible to interfere with the theme options and to create this situation.

The mobile theme has settings that can be found in the newspaper -> theme panel -> mobile theme. You should change it from there.

Google AdSense and CMP scripts (especially Google’s own CMP) are notorious for slowing down mobile performance on tools like PageSpeed Insights. You mentioned trying a timeout or “run on scroll” for JavaScript. While that helps ads, it’s problematic for CMP. As advice: Let the CMP load first, but delay ad-related JavaScript. Delay ad scripts, improve First Contentful Paint (FCP), and still show ads. Another workaround here could be to use data-block-on-consent for Ads. Please eliminate Unused CSS with PurgeCSS or WP Rocket Add-ons. Enable “Remove Unused CSS” if not already on.

Look I fully understand how to optimize wordpress for speed, but I don’t even have enough data on there for this to be occuring at a 12 post website. Thats should be concerning to you guys – on it’s own. What’s more is that CDN is also activated by default. In the last 20 years – I don’t think I’ve ever seen a template effect such a bad speed report, right out of the box with 12 live posts. I thought you guys would be concerned to get that feedback.

Similarly, when I navigate from one page to another, it easily takes 8 seconds. Yet my pages are quite simple, with just images and text.

Thanks for the comment. I figured it out, apparently the plugin Security Optimizer (came preinstalled) was causing a conflict. Remedy: disable it while making edits to column text (WP Edit will work) then reenable it afterwards. Hope this helps !

To test if everything is set as it should on your website, you can access the article and check if the post view counter is increasing. Ensure you have the single post view shortcode in the single cloud template. Those options are based on the post views from WordPress. Unfortunately, if this is not working, something is not activated for post views or is interfering there. Unfortunately, we can not collect the views before all the options are active if the post views haven’t worked.
