Hello,

Actually WordPress does support Webp images, all my web pages use them without problem.

But I’m not referring to webp images, but to the webm animated image format, which optimizes gif files.

It’s newspaper theme that doesn’t support it, not wordpress.Do you plan to fix this in future updates? The webp and webm formats are the most recommended for their optimization.

Hi,

One way would be to use an iframe embed – https://www.quora.com/How-do-I-embed-content-from-other-sites-external-webpage-section-of-a-page-in-my-WordPress-page
https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Learn/HTML/Multimedia_and_embedding/Other_embedding_technologies
But this will embed the whole page, with CSS you could try and position the iframe to display a specific location from the embedded page – https://css-tricks.com/forums/topic/iframe-xy-positioning/

Like in this quick example (made with the example from above -CSS tricks)
http://prntscr.com/nyc2u3http://prntscr.com/nyc39w

Something like this can take some time to do however. Maybe there are other ways of embedding specific sections from other websites in page.

THE COMPLETE GUIDE TO EMBED ALMOST ANYTHING IN YOUR WORDPRESS SITE -> https://optimizerwp.com/wordpress-embed-guide/

Or maybe you can use a plugin for embed external pages.

Thanks

Hi,

Please notice that the speed of your website depends on how well your site is optimized.

Notice that is not a simple task and if you do not have any experience in this regard you will do not bring good results for the theme. Also, notice that we have a speed optimization tutorial but this is addressed only to advanced users. How can I improve site performance from script without affecting the site?

loading is too slow
my site is http://portaldarmc.com.br

Not sure why, but the mobile theme has stopped working and reverted back to the desktop design.

It was working perfectly fine and was optimized at a 90ish mobile page speed.

I deactivated the mobile plug-in and then reactivated it, but that didn’t work.

What do I need to do?

Hello.

I’m having problems with the posts not saving. It stalls when trying to update the post…and then says “update failed.” Those pages may occasionally not load and give a connection error. It can be completely random…as in..working one day…and then not the next.

I have:

1. Moved to a new server.
2. Updated to 4.9.1.
3. Had my host provider optimize the server according to your specs.
4. Turned off all plugins except the composer.

Still doing it. They say I should ask you.

Any thoughts? Is this a familiar problem? Will need to ditch the theme if I can’t figure it out.

… we moved the site to a new account and this is still an issue – I’ve opened it so you can take a look. I did install Autoptimize plugin, but it doesn’t seem to help. Sometimes it takes well over 1s for the menu to change colors and fonts …

please take a look at http://www.varna-starost.si

Hello !

Excepting the photos wich you’ve mentioned too the page seems to work fine on our side: https://gtmetrix.com/reports/umfmostar.ba/PxCe3RKm

Unfortunately the speed you achieve is not only theme related so it kinda makes a chain reaction. There are many factors like hosting / plugins and you have to verify every link of it in order to optimize everything at it’s best. Also you can find here some tips and tricks on improving the page speed.

Thank you !

Hi,

I’m having some issues with my newspaper website after trying to update my website logo and favicon.

After I updated my header and footer logo and favicon, I noticed that the favicon and header logo is not updated properly.

More specifically, for the desktop version of my website the favicon is not updating while the header and footer logo updated fine.

Favicon Issue

For the mobile version of my website, using the Mobile Theme, both the favicon and header logo are not updating.

Mobile Theme Favicon Issue

Mobile Theme Issue 1

When I inspect the HTML elements both on desktop and mobile I notice that they both point to the old assets.

Also, after doing a lot of troubleshooting and testing myself the Mobile Theme now is not working properly

Mobile Theme Issue 2

So I tried everything from my hand but can’t seem to find what is the issue. See below a list of things I tried and specs of my website.

  • cleared cache on WP Super Cache & CLoudflare
  • optimized/cleaned sql db
  • clear browser cache and cookies
  • cleared web server cache
  • updated to latest newspaper theme version 9.8
  • disabled Cloudflare
  • disabled cache plugin
  • disabled all plugins
  • updated my server to PHP7.1
  • Complied to all configs in system status – all green

My website is https://ourcodepeople.com

I don’t seem to find what is the issue. Something is stuck. My mind goes to some cache not invalidating or something but I cleared all cache memories I could.

The problem still persists and I cannot update the favicon and header logo while the Mobile Theme is not working properly.

Looking forward to your kind advice on the issue.

Regards,
Andreas

It worked! Just uncheck “inline all CSS” in the Autoptimize plugin!

Here what I already done:
– enabled gzip compression by my hosting.
– leveraged browser caching with wp-rocket.
– optimized all of my image with shortpixel plugin (paid plan)
– use cache plugin (wp-rocket)

Still, the result suggests the problem that I mention still persist which I think have to do with the newspaper css, how should I handle this?

Hi Calin,

Thanks for your reply. Even though I am not a super expert I have some experience in this regard. In fact, I was able to optimize by myself the website when the previous theme was installed as well as other websites I own.

My question is not to blame Newspaper, in fact, I have used this theme many times even for other websites and I have always been quite happy with it. This is the reason why I have decided to switch from the previous Studio Press theme to Newspaper.

I just want to know if it could be that some plugins or settings I have are conflicting with the theme. You may agree that going from a score of over 90 with old theme to just 36/37 is quite a big difference in speed and it all happened as soon as I have installed the new theme.

I went through the guide you shared just to double check if something was missing or misplaced but everything looks quite fine apart from the speed.

Hi Vlad,

I have checked the system requirements you specified. The only setting not compliant was PHP that has now been updated to 7.2. All the other requirements are superior to the minimum requirement.

After updating the PHP, the speed dropped even more. According to Google Speed insight, the website went from 38/39 to 36/37. Just a minor difference but not an improvement as well.

I have deactivated more plugins but with no results. It is very strange since with the previous theme and more plugins active my speed never dropped below 90.

For your reference, the website is on Cludflare and I have the following active plugins: Autoptimize, Async JavaScript, Breeze, Webcraftic Clearfy and WP Super Cache.

Any clue if there is some conflict here? Do you have any idea why after installing Newspaper the speed dropped so dramatically?

Thx for your help

Hi,

I modified a page with the TD Composer.
Then I modified the content in the Mobile Editor but it tries to save indefinitely and never really saves the modifications, even after many minutes.
I cleaned everything with WP-Optimize, emptied all caches… same!

Can you kindly help?

Thanks
