Hello, I would like to inform you that the newspaper theme is heavy when it comes to doing page load tests, it always recommends CSS problems, tagdiv composer and other components of the theme, I have used the new css parser and it does not make changes, in the mobile version the same or worse for example in (pagespeed insight mark 13 and desktop 58) in (gtmetrix) one (E), performance 32%, structure 92%, largest content 4.4s, total blocking 456ms and cumulative layout 0.67
how can i improve this.

Let me explain some of these factors and maybe they give you some starting points for optimizing your website.
External factors: server speed, if you are using CDN or not, the external resources loaded by your website like ads, fonts, tracking scripts like Facebook Pixel, Google Analytics, Twitter analytics, Hotjar and so on.

I was surprised by the number of complaints 10.4 has caused, I however did not experience any issue at all, even the css analyzer for pages which is in beta stage did what it’s supposed to do and gave higher scores in gt metrix and pagespeed insights, the speedbump however was only minor but all bits help 🙂
Firstly, well done on the 10.4 update; upgrade went smoothly and pagespeed scores are excellent.
Before the Cloud Templates I would copy single.php into a child theme to allow me to add PHP code to the template. Is this possible with the Cloud Templates?
I use template_redirect action to call in a single.php file currently as there are dynamically generated pages from a database.

the header logo in Newspaper < 10.4 had no width and height attribute, which was reported by Google’s Pagespeed tool. The changelog of Newspaper version 10.4 says “fix: Width and height attribute on header logo;”.
But still my logo has no width and height attribute. How can I fix this?

I updated the Newspaper theme to the latest version, and I have never seen anything like this on the Newspaper theme.
I used the CSS tool, and I am impressed.

The mobile score is 93 on Google pagespeed insights (Though still needs improvement on LCP and TTI.)
The desktop score is 100 on Google Pagespeed
** I am using the mobile plugin for mobile. Would it make any difference if I switched to mobile pages? And would I still enable AMP?

I got 25 on mobile and 83 on desktop speed, when testing in PageSpeed Insights (Fitness Blog). That’s extremly slow. Pingodmtools shows same discouraging results. I’m using Litespeed cache, because I’m on Litespeed server. I’ve tried your preferred WP Super Cache, it’s even slower. Your so called lightweight themes are not so lightweight. What to do?

It took 2 days from my side to figure out the following message,
“Warnings: Lighthouse was unable to automatically check the font-display value for the origin https://www.yourdomain.com.”
shows up from “https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/” (PageSpeed Insights) when the Newspaper theme and AdSense code are activated at the same time. If I deactivate the AdSense code, the issue of Lighthouse disappears. Again If I change the Newspaper theme (Deactivated Newspaper theme) and the AdSense code remains active, the issue of Lighthouse disappears. So Newspaper theme somehow contradicts the AdSense code. Please solve the problem. I have tried swapping fonts and it did not help. Can you please do something from your side? The problem needs to be solved. Thanks.

I want to switch from Classic Blog to Classic Blog Pro to improve Google PageSpeed performance. I created a staging area to make sure things look right, but I feel like whenever I change something in the theme, it doesn’t show up.
For example, I edited the sidebar to include specific boxes, but the preview still shows the preinstalled ones (latest comments, latest posts, etc.) and my main staging page doesn’t have the sidebar at all even though I changed it in the settings.

The Mobile Theme is a performance optimized theme included in the Newspaper main theme and it loads only for mobile devices. It comes with its own templates for page, post, category, etc so your current templates from the desktop theme will get converted to the mobile theme layout. My problem is that I would like to design my desktop pages also for mobile. But I don’t want to work with display: none; because here (to my knowledge) allte images etc. are loaded anyway. This is not good for the pagespeed.
The mobile template would be perfect. But I don’t want different URLs for desktop and mobile. I think that could be a problem for Google (search engines). And users could be confused too.
