Thanks. I’ve tried changing the default block header style but doesn’t affect the related posts header, but no big deal.
So there’s no easy way to set a default placeholder image for posts with no featured image? I can see an image from /wp-content/themes/Newspaper/images/no-thumb/thumbnail.png on mobile but it just appears white on desktop. Could I edit that image?
And one final question, how could I reduce the height of the space above and below the header logo on header style 9? I found the link below for header style 7, can this be adapted?
https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/newspaper-header-area-height/
Ok thanks.
Is it possible to hide the “More from author” option on related posts? It’s confusing on my website all posts are uploaded by one user despite the fact they are written by different authors.
The General Theme Colours option for Theme Accent Colour seems to set the background on the related posts bar. It has to be a colour otherwise text with hyperlinks appear blank on a white background. But I don’t understand why I have a bar (see this post http://www.solidarity.asn.au/unions/sydneys-rail-strike-banned-time-fight-right-strike/)
as opposed to the header style shown here https://forum.tagdiv.com/related-articles/
Finally can I set a default image as the placeholder image where posts have no featured image? Otherwise all my related articles and category pages are going to have the gap. I can’t have a featured image on every single post as I have thousands of posts.
Hi,
Thank you for the appreciation, we try our best to provide a quality product.
1. Posts are meant to have a featured image, if there is no featured image set the theme will display a default placeholder instead, everywhere the post is displayed
– https://www.screencast.com/t/LQ7tpNTo
You could choose a module that does not display the featured image
– https://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/category/module-8-layout/
– https://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/category/module-9-layout/
2. There is a default padding and margin set for module 8
– https://www.screencast.com/t/dVBKCvUVb
You could change that with CSS, this is the code for that with default values, change them as you want and enter it in Theme panel->Custom CSS
.td_module_8 {
padding-bottom: 25px;
margin-bottom: 16px;
}
The code will affect all instances of module 8, it can be made more precise if needed.
3. It could be a combination of colors set in the theme colors set here
– https://www.screencast.com/t/FkQkkBXOHX
The related section is affected by these settings. Please check if that is the case.
Thank you!
Hi,
Those are images used by the multi-purpose plugin, as placeholders for the elements it ads. They will not cause any issues.
Thanks

It seems that the log is not long enough to show full message, or the option it want to save is too long?
This usually happens and sometimes it updates successfully…
The tag cloud widget is available, it is provided by default WordPress
– https://www.screencast.com/t/rmHdkVAr
Those images are default placeholders for multi-purpose elements, they will not cause any problems. Example
– https://www.screencast.com/t/M3QNkwXFFUk
They will be added as long as the multi-purpose plugin is installed and active.
Thanks
Hi,
@soale The modules will display as mentioned above, placeholder images. These are found here in the theme
– https://www.screencast.com/t/7EPGtC5naw5
These images could be replaced with your own if that is what you want, just be sure to use the same name, size and format for the images.
Posts are meant to have featured images, the theme does not have any options in case they do not, it will show a placeholder instead.
Thanks
Hi,
If there is no featured image set, there should be a placeholder displayed
– https://www.screencast.com/t/RWUTAt31
You could hide the module thumbnail for his type of block, to make them look better. A code like this will do that (affects only blocks 4 on the homepage)
– https://www.screencast.com/t/rCZfu4uD
.home .td_block_4 .td-module-thumb {
display:none;
}
Also the title and content length can be controlled, for this module here
– https://www.screencast.com/t/Dg5InixbHqQp
So you could limit the excerpt length for the modules, they will look better.
Thanks
I want to add a Woocommerce plugin but what happens is once I activate the plugin:
All the images disappear from the website leaving a grey placeholder area where the images once were.
I did the troubleshooting instructions from the plugin under (PLUG IN AND THEME CONFLICTS)
but to no avail.
Hi,
@stvnalln I believe the placeholder images will reappear if removed, as long as the multi-purpose plugin is active. If you are not using the multi-purpose plugin you can remove them.
I don’t know why you would like to remove those images however. They are not causing any issues by simply being in the media library, they are simple standard images.
Thanks
Hello Lisborg,
Sorry for the misunderstanding. The ‘TDM’ pictures cannot be removed. They are required by the tag div multi-purpose plugin elements. They are placeholder images that are needed for the proper alignment of the elements when adding them to the tag div composer.
Thank you!
Hi,
From what I see the featured images inside the post page are displaying just fine
– https://www.screencast.com/t/tleVbnweCNh
In the home there are only default theme placeholders displayed, that happens because the necessary thumbnail is disabled. I see you use module 18, so enable this thumb size (Theme panel->Block settings->Thumbs on modules/blocks )
– https://www.screencast.com/t/3NxBCIhY5ch
Thumbnails must be regenerated after doing this
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/thumbnails-fix-strange-looking-images-on-blocks/
Note that you can also create a static homepage, instead of a blog style

When the post has no featured image and the option FEATURED IMAGE PLACEHOLDER is disabled, the post view shouldn’t display either the featured image or the placeholder. Right?
Yes, but when DEFAULT SITE POST TEMPLATE is set with Style 3, Style 4, Style 6, Style 7, or Style 8 it doesn’t work. The post WITHOUT featured image shows the placeholder.
Is it a bug?
Hi Bogdan, sorry but my English is a little rusty.
I understand your reply, what I don’t understand is why the system uploads tdm_pic_1…9 about 10 times a day. My client’s library is full of placeholder images. I have multi-purpose plugin active but I don’t deactivate and reactivate neither delete the images from the media library. How can I stop those annoying uploads?
Hello,
Sorry for the misunderstanding. The ‘tdm’ pictures cannot be removed. They are required by the tagdiv multi-purpose plugin elements. They are placeholder images that are needed for the proper alignment of the elements when adding them to the tagdiv composer.

Hi,
Ideally the posts would have featured images set, so each post can have a thumbnail created. Through the child theme I can’t think of a way to change the default placeholder images.
Either replace them in the main theme folder as mentioned before, or create a similar folder in the child theme and modify the path where they are called here
– https://www.screencast.com/t/ZXfVRvYQOxW
Unfortunately the td_module file is not supported to be modified in the child theme, so this modifications will have to be made again probably, after updating.
Thanks
Yes it does but that is not really a useful image. There has to be an easier way to add placeholders that won’t be over written. You are not answering the question here. The placeholder should be customisable much more easily.
Hello,
The mobile theme should provide a placeholder image like so: https://www.screencast.com/t/ieKQZtsoA
Please check your theme panel and enable the no thumb image: https://www.screencast.com/t/pVuhF3mIeIP
Thank you!
If there are images there you can also use ‘Auto Post Thumbnail’ plugin to select the first one to be featured image.
@Simion C. If you replace any of the placeholder images surely these will be over written during a theme update. Yes we can use a child theme but it is a bit more complicated when you replace images in an existing path name. I’m guessing there is a way to do this by loading that image folder separately. Any tips please?
Hi,
Seems to be displayed at the moment
– https://www.screencast.com/t/yb3DlC14eWQW
If there is no featured image set for each post, the theme cannot create the necessary thumbnails to display on modules
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/theme-thumbs/
A default placeholder image will be displayed instead.
Thanks
Hi,
The modules will display a default placeholder if there is no featured image for the post. These placeholder images are located here in the theme
– https://www.screencast.com/t/7EPGtC5naw5
If you want to replace them please use the same name, size and format for the images.
Thanks
Hi,
The thumbnails will be created from the featured images or videos you set for posts
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/featured-image-or-video/
If none of these are set, the theme will display a default placeholder image for that post.
The theme uses the default WordPress search functionality. I believe there are search plugins that you could try if you want to improve or add more capabilities on the search.
Thanks
Thank you,
So there’s no way to show the thumbnail of an item which does not have a featured image set up – eg. a tagged image from the library displaying in the search results? This is the issue.
Images shown in the search results display a placeholder, and the posts shown there display a correct thumbnail. So the user is not able to look for images only?
Hello,
Unfortunately we cannot offer any solution to remove the placeholder images or to remove specific functions from our theme. You will have to hire a freelancer for the mentioned customization as we do not have a customization department and cannot offer such services.
In order to remove the OG image please use this solution: https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/how-do-i-disable-automatic-ogimage-tag-on-my-posts/
