Hello sldpsl,

I have inspected your website search page by ‘metro’ and the images are working as expected, as you can see here -> https://www.screencast.com/t/Wybpjywbl Notice that the placeholder will appear if your posts do not have a featured images set up.

Thanks for your understanding!

Hello,

The theme is perfect, however I found one issue that I can’t fix.

Thumbnails in search results.

Does not matter which block is selected from the panel as the search results, those results display only thumbnails of posts with featured images.
All the other thumbnails display only a placeholder.

For example – when you try to serach for a “metro” you’ll get the posts tagged “metro” with thumbnails, but items from the media library (tagged the same way) display only a placeholder, which is unuseful, when you’re looking for images.

Below is the example:
http://ursynow.org.pl/?s=metro

In the theme settings I’ve enabled all the thumbnails sizes, so the file is present – yet it can’t be dispalyed.
Could you please help me fixing this issue?

Hello,
These images are the placeholders for the multi-purpose elements which require an image to position properly so a placeholder is necessary for the proper functionality of these elements. That is why these images are present.

Thank you!

Hi,

1. The module functionality is to display thumbnails created from manually setting a featured image for posts
https://forum.tagdiv.com/featured-image-or-video/
https://forum.tagdiv.com/theme-thumbs/
The theme does not have other functionality for the thumbnails and modules. If a featured image is not set a placeholder will be displayed.

2. You could take a look at how each of the modules you mention is made
https://www.screencast.com/t/XkB7OVjXYH
That could be possible by modifications in the code, maybe some additional styling as well.

Thanks

Each post needs to have a featured image set, in order for the thumbnails to be created
https://forum.tagdiv.com/theme-thumbs/

The theme will crop the images and create thumbnails
https://forum.tagdiv.com/featured-image/

If an image is not set, the theme will display a default no-thumb placeholder on the modules. As for the size of the featured image, there is no recommendation. The demo you install contains mostly images of 1068 × 713 px, as mentioned. However, for superior thumbnail quality you could use bigger image sizes. For example, in the live demo this featured image size is used for a post
https://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/01-girl.jpg
https://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/

The mega menu uses a thumbnail as well, the thumbnail size cannot be changed

There are multiple post templates that you can choose from
https://forum.tagdiv.com/post-templates-2/
See them live in the demo (Features menu).

Hello,

Those images are the placeholders for the multi-purpose elements. They are required by the plugin, that is why they remain there. It is not malware. It is a needed implementation of these elements. Please do not delete these images.

Thank you!

Hello,

1) sorry but the plugin is not among the tested and recommended plugins so I cannot say for sure if it will work or not. But I have a better solution that does not involve plugins. The theme already has a placeholder image. Simply replace the placeholder image for different sizes here: https://www.screencast.com/t/0YlKP2Z6 keep the file name intact as well as the size of the thumb but replace the image with your preferred fallback image.

2)Some blocks have certain meta info missing or hidden as a design choice. Here is a list of what modules are used on which block: https://forum.tagdiv.com/theme-blocks-modules/

Thank you!

Hi,

Those images are added by the multi-purpose plugin, they are default placeholders used by some elements. They should not be an inconvenience for you. For example this element uses one of those images

Hi,

The theme requires featured images to be set for each post or page
https://forum.tagdiv.com/featured-image-or-video/
From these featured images the thumbnails will be created. If there is no featured image only a default placeholder will appear
https://forum.tagdiv.com/theme-thumbs/
The process of uploading and setting a featured image is essential, thumbnails will not be created otherwise.
The title can be controlled with the Yoast SEO plugin
https://kb.yoast.com/kb/yoast-wordpress-seo-titles-metas-template-variables/
https://yoast.com/wordpress/plugins/seo/titles-and-meta-descriptions/

Thanks

Hello,
This is not a sloppy implementation. These images are placeholders for the multi-purpose elements. Why would this be sloppy? You can see the images in your media library. It is not a parasitic exploit. They are just a few images that help the tagdiv composer show certain elements. Why sloppy? why parasitic? They are just a few sample images that come with the plugin.

Thank you!

I just noticed the appearance of about 10 jpg pics in my media library that I did not upload. They are not attached to any post, are located in the uploads folder (and not the month-specific folder like other media files) and are not linked to any user. There appears to be no other ill effects from their presence but the result of deleting permanently is that they appear to return in duplicate. Attempts to remove via FTP also failed.

A quick internet search for the file names reveals several other websites hosting these files and the one thing they have in common is the Newspaper theme.

A search of my website files revealed these could be placeholder images used by the TagDiv Multi-Purpose plugin (hence TDM prefix in the filename).

Please confirm this is just a sloppy implementation of the TagDiv Multi-Purpose plugin and users need not be concerned and waste a lot of time researching what otherwise appears to be a parasitic exploit.

Hi,

I see you are not using featured images for your posts. This category page on your website is apparently missing 2 posts
http://moarcookies.com/category/podcasts/esports-wrap/
The theme intends to display in this case a top grid that contains these 2 posts. If there are no featured images set, and the placeholder is disabled
https://www.screencast.com/t/qFix6MQF4
Then the result may be what is happening here. The solution would be to either enable featured image placeholders as shown, or disable the top post grid per category
https://www.screencast.com/t/Jd5EoMDb
Or set all categories to default setting and disable the top grid in general
https://www.screencast.com/t/Iw7F5rbzL

Hi,

That image will be displayed on block or grid modules, when there is no featured image set and the placeholder is enabled in the theme panel
https://www.screencast.com/t/e2FwxtouO
I cannot seem to find many posts with no thumbnail, on the website. Did find these, so it is working
https://www.screencast.com/t/KRW6KDyBwoRo
The post template files are located in the main theme folder, each template has a corresponding single and loop-single file

Hi,

That seems to be the modified placeholder image
https://www.screencast.com/t/ITRWxXpF9
It should now be displayed when the post has no featured image set, instead of the default them no-thumb. Please correct me if I misunderstand.

Thanks

Hi,

The theme automatically creates thumbnails from the featured images set
https://forum.tagdiv.com/theme-thumbs/
These thumbnails will be displayed on block modules and other elements. If the post has not featured image a default placeholder will be displayed by the theme. These placeholder images are found here in the theme
https://www.screencast.com/t/7EPGtC5naw5
If you want to replace them please use the same name, size and format for the images.

Thanks

I had the same question. The problem is that the icon for ‘Block 9’ indicates that you have the ideal layout of stacked list of posts in one column. I took the icon to be accurate since the ones that have image placeholders will by default, show images, and the ones that do not, don’t.

Hi,

The thumbnails will be created automatically by the theme, from the featured images set for the posts. It would be best to use featured images, or videos for posts
https://forum.tagdiv.com/featured-image-or-video/
https://forum.tagdiv.com/theme-thumbs/
If there is no featured image the theme will display a default placeholder thumbnail
https://www.screencast.com/t/PcjysWoL
Those placeholder thumbnails are found in the theme folder here
https://www.screencast.com/t/f2EZf71a
You could replace them with the images you want and the theme will use those, just make sure they are of the same size and have the same name and format like the default ones.

Thanks

Hi,

I have a problem with module 10. Placeholder images are disabled, but the height of the module seems to be determined by the fixed height of the thumbnail –no matter if there is a real thumbnail or not–. This creates unconvenient gaps between paragraphs when there is no thumbnail to show, and it looks like something is missing or broken.

I need to make the height of the module adaptable, depending on the height of the text, which depends on the variable length of the title and the excerpt.

The same applies to module 6 and others.

Is there a way to fix this on the theme panel, or with CSS, or with PHP?

Thanks!

Theme: Newspaper 8.1.

Hi,

If a featured image is not set for the post, the theme will display a no-thumb instead of a featured image thumbnail
https://www.screencast.com/t/PcjysWoL
Those placeholder thumbnails are found in the theme folder here
https://www.screencast.com/t/f2EZf71a
You could replace them with the images you want and the theme will use those, just make sure they are of the same size and have the same name and format like the default ones.

Thanks

Hello CVBJ_Creative,

As you know, the theme will display the featured image in blocks/modules on the pages. If the featured image was not been setup on the post, you will bring a placeholder with a message or something like this. Unfortunately, our theme does not have any such an option that allows you to automatically add a featured image to these posts,
unless you add them manually, sorry! Also, another alternative for you would be to use the Auto Post Thumbnails which automatically add the first image to your post to be featured image. You should try this plugin and check the results.

Thanks for the message!

Hello by1411,

I do not know exactly understand what you want to achieve, sorry! Please notice that you should turn off all the thumbs which you do not use on your website. If you will turn off such a thumbs and then if you will use blocks which are using that thumbs you will bring a message with the required images size in a placeholder.

Thanks for your understanding!

Hello marcunix,

If you want to use the Post type from filter option, notice that there you should add what kind of files to be displayed, like this -> https://www.screencast.com/t/6kyUQrdtlnz I do not know what exactly you want to achieve. Notice that we do not have any blocks which do not display the featured images, sorry! If you will not have any featured image setup, will appear a placeholder, like this -> https://www.screencast.com/t/o9koLWr58 All of our available blocks which can be used on the theme can be found here -> https://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/block-1/

Thanks for the message!

Hi, I need the ability to display the post title and occasionally a featured image (if the post has one) on the home page. What block/element would you recommend for this? If I choose block 9, that’s great for post titles but no ability to display image. If I choose an option with image, it displays too much and also puts a placeholder image where there is no blog post image…

I has a customized placeholder for all posts that do not have featured images but it has reverted to the default placeholder after the recent theme update. How do I restore the custom placeholder I earlier had?
