- NewspaperThumbnails – Fix strange looking images on blocks
- NewspaperUsing the theme with existing content
Hi Lucian. I did revert to the native theme and the issue was still there so other than it being a WordPress bug I don’t know what else to do.
Regarding the image in the slider it is interesting because the image filled the space prior to the theme update at 700 pixels wide. Is there a specific size the image needs to be?
Thanks.
Edit: I followed your instruction on the Regenerate Thumbnails plugin and it didn’t make a difference.

Hi,
I have also tested this and haven’t found any issues when using the latest theme version. Not sure if this related to the theme as we haven’t made any modification to editor lists. This might be a WordPress error also so please try testing this when switching to a default WordPress theme and check if this behavior is still present.
Regarding to the issue you have with the image in the slider I suggest you make sure first that the image is actually larger than 700x452px width and if so use this guide an regenerate thumbnails: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-fix-strange-thumbnails/
Hope this helps!
Thanks
Hi,
You can try to use a plugin like Force Regenerate Thumbnails which deletes all thumbnails then regenerates them again.
Thanks
Hi,
I’m not sure if the image thumb is added by default by WordPress or not so if you have added it yourself then you just need to remove that code which you used to add it if not then I suggest to use the thumbnail image size from media settings to set the size for your images: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-fix-strange-thumbnails/ then regenerate thumbnail: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-fix-strange-thumbnails/
After this without using the code in the function file the image size for feeds should be at the sizes you want.
Please let me know and also provide your site’s URL so I can check this.
Thanks
Hi,
Sorry for the delay!
I have checked your site and noticed that most of the images added in your posts are loading just a thumb of the image and not the original image: http://screencast.com/t/rwTodrMFLM which based on the width and height image attributes is stretched and from there that blurry effect appears.
This could be caused by your recent WordPress update so I suggest you try to edit an image within a post and change its size: http://screencast.com/t/oB3B8nsASbB then check again and also try to regenerate thumbnail and empty cache files/purge files if you use CDN.
Please let me know!
Thanks

Hi,
Please also try this without any plugins active, leave just Visual Composer active to make sure that is not happening due to other plugins you use, then make sure that you regenerate your thumbnails: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-fix-strange-thumbnails/
After doing this empty cache and check again.
Please let me know how it goes!
Thanks
Hi! My site more than 10,000 posts. The old theme supports automatic thumbnail (any first uploaded image is automatically copied to thumbnails). How to add automatic thumbnails in your theme?
Plugin ‘Regenerate Thumbnails’ no help.
Hi,
No. The theme uses different image sizes for on module/blocks/menu.
For old content the image thumbs don’t exist so the original image will be loaded and you need to regenerate thumbnails: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-fix-strange-thumbnails/
I also suggest you empty cache/purge files if you sue any cache plugin or CDN host services.
Thanks
Hi,
For your site’s page speed I can use the tagdiv speed booster plugin and this guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-make-the-site-faster/ but first I suggest you turn off all plugins, empty cache/purge files and use this guide to regenerate your thumbnails so that the theme creates the thumbnails for old images form your content: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-fix-strange-thumbnails/
You can also follow this topic to find out how others fixed their issues regarding pagespeed: https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/pagespeed/
For remaining js/css errors I suggest you enable/disable plugins to find out which ones are causing issues.
Thanks
Hi,
Thanks Chris!
@roylexi Please make sure that you have this option enabled in theme panel: http://screencast.com/t/w41HVY4rp then check to see if also get this result: http://screencast.com/t/0ZQBDWvSK8
Also use this guide and make sure that you regenerate thumbnails following this steps: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-fix-strange-thumbnails/ ..and that you have permissions to update your uploads folder and that you have GD library installed.
Please also try this without having any plugins active, empty cache/purge then test again.
Thanks
Hi,
You can find image size for blocks and modules in td_config.php: http://screencast.com/t/6akUdS6M
And the image size that modules are using, for example module 1: http://screencast.com/t/oRtW4YJI1
Please regenerate thumbnails after you make some changes: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-fix-strange-thumbnails/
Thanks!
Hi,
1. Here you can set a link to your name: http://screencast.com/t/Kvvw1ar67
Please take a look if the categories that not appear on Big Grid are hidden from Theme Panel > Categories > each category: http://screencast.com/t/AnbbU5bpRM
2. Comment or delete here: http://screencast.com/t/bwuTcz75
3. You can change the image size from td_config.php: http://screencast.com/t/Geqz226QV
After you change the height, you need to regenerate your thumbnails: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-fix-strange-thumbnails/

Hi,
Please regenerate your thumbnails: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-fix-strange-thumbnails/
Also if you still have issues with this provide your site URL, so I can inspect this.
Thanks!
Usually that issue is from using the Photon plugin in the (crappy) Jetpack stuff.
I’ve found it much better to use the regenerate thumbnails plugin to create the new thumbs for the theme, and so you have the correct sizes. The “resizing” in responsive is also partially dependent on the web browser, and some do a better job than others.
Might not apply to your use case, but after 12 months with the theme that’s been my experience.
Thanks Lucian for replying. We regenerated the Thumnails (again) but the result does not change as you can see in this link

Hi,
Regarding the first problem you have please note that we have this on our todo list an we’re working on it and we will have it fix in next theme versions.
The images used for post template 4/5/6 is the td_1021x580 image thumbnail they are not loaded at their original size:
ex: http://screencast.com/t/0vOmUbxV
Make sure you use this guide an regenerate your thumbnails if this is not happening in your case: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-fix-strange-thumbnails/
Let me know if this is not what you’ve refereed too and provide more details and your site’s URL also.
Thanks
Hi,
I checked your site and I see you are using a CDN: http://screencast.com/t/g0yuenRS2DC
Please purge all files(from your CDN settings area), clear the cache and check if the issue is still there.
Another issue may be related to the original image size – http://screencast.com/t/ekEj0UFe
It’s width is smaller than the container and wordpress doesn’t upscale the images. For upscale use a combination of plugins Thumbnail Upscale + Force Regenerate.
Thanks!
Hi,
You could do via custom css like this: http://screencast.com/t/CiOywiOR
.td_block_big_grid .td-big-grid-post-0 .entry-thumb {
width: 100%;
}
But I suggest you regenerate thumbnails: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-fix-strange-thumbnails/ as an thumb image for that slider container should be created and used there. I have also tested this and as you can see it should work fine: http://screencast.com/t/z2Djej8fjYV
Thanks
Hi,
The server couldn’t find it: http://screencast.com/t/6LqWnJrR
Please make sure you re-save your permalinks and also try to regenerate thumbnails, and also make sure that your empty cache/purge files if you sue cdn.
If this still happens after doing this please try to create a new posts and check if this happens in that case also.
Let me know how this goes.
The issue is in the url here (the one that doesn’t work): http://screencast.com/t/U1uicF6Sab
The working one: http://screencast.com/t/RJ7BG3Vcx
Thanks
Hi,
As Christopher also wrote you need to regenerate your thumbnails using this guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-fix-strange-thumbnails/ and let me know if you still have issues with this.
Also please provide the site URL.
Thanks
That border is shown because your images don’t “fill” the spaces of the layout.
You need to regenerate thumbnails to the sizes used by those boxes.
If those boxes are larger than your original sizes, you need to use something like “Thumbnail Upscale” which over-rides WordPress turning off builtin upscaling “feature.”
Thumbnail upscale plugin:
we use this with BOTH Newsmag and Newspaper to make the larger thumbs for home page sliders, and category featured pix, etc., since many of our old images were 500×375.
https://wordpress.org/plugins/thumbnail-upscale/
Admin may want to finally add this to the “suggested” plugins page for use with theme in addition to “regenerate thumbnails” …
Hi,
All those blocks you’ve mentioned work fine on your page: http://screencast.com/t/GQN6ytO9ZCA2
If you refer to the thumb images that don’t look right, like in this two cases: http://screencast.com/t/I0dX14CbP then please note that this happens because of the cropping function and to somehow avoid this you could an image near to the aspect ration of the thumbs in which you want it to look well. You can read more about aspect ratio here: http://digital-photography-school.com/aspect-ratio-what-it-is-and-why-it-matters/
You can also read more about function which creates the thumbs and WordPress cropping here:
1. http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/add_image_size
2. http://www.davidtan.org/wordpress-hard-crop-vs-soft-crop-difference-comparison-example/
Also note that if you decide to change some thumbnails sizes you’ll need to regenerate thumbnails again in order to apply changes.
I saw that you use the Default page template and block 13 for Latest article. You also can use “Pagebuilder + Latest articles + Pagination” that Lucian refereed and your Latest articles will be automatically added on your page with your sidebar like you want: http://screencast.com/t/YK4uHRkthO
After you set the page template, you can set the layout and the sidebar position for your Latest article: http://screencast.com/t/mMRar9DuB
Result: http://screencast.com/t/qWaRffzf3
If you want to use a block for your Latest Articles(what you use now), you can add a sidebar using Widgetised sidebar block like this: http://screencast.com/t/NIvBfOkMq
Result: http://screencast.com/t/xUptQ5vby3uy
Also you can use another block for your Latest Article:
http://screencast.com/t/BoSBS6lU
http://screencast.com/t/7KOJG4jyO
http://screencast.com/t/1vYj3yXFAu
Result: http://screencast.com/t/U6N3B5CS
Regarding ads you can follow our guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/ads-system-full-guide/
Also is useful our documentation: https://forum.tagdiv.com/newsmag-documentation/
Hope this helps!
Hi,
Here you can find the height of Slider: http://screencast.com/t/kGSubsdm
After you change the height, you have to regenerate thumbnails: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-fix-strange-thumbnails/
Now you have some changes to do via custom css: http://screencast.com/t/N89BSwYTzy
.td-theme-slider.iosSlider-col-3.td_mod_wrap{
height: 640px !important;
}
.td-theme-slider.iosSlider-col-3 .td_module_slide {
height: 640px;
}
Thanks!

Hi,
Just discovered that when I set the slider to show random posts some of my images were too small to fit the 745x483px space.
Is there a way I can bulk regenerate images so that these smaller images are increased to 745x483px?
Thank you.
Derek
