I recently upgraded Newspaper 6 to Newspaper 8 and I am noticing that the Custom Links in all VC Single Image modules cease to render and ignore any parameters entered into custom_link field. The hyperlink is replaced with only a single hashmark and the field is ignored. I have attempted to edit the raw text as well as using the WPBakery Page Builder and the fields are saved and editable but ignored when rendered in both. I have also attempted to manually use the parameter “link” as well as “img_link” by editing the raw shortcode in the build-in WordPress editor in Text mode and it also fails to render.

Here is an example of the raw shortcode text using the build-in WordPress view to show the raw code that I am attempting:

And here is how the VC Single Image is rendered in the DOM:

You can see that neither the href field is being populated from the link or img_link field, nor the id field from the el_id field is being rendered.

These fields works perfectly fine in Newspaper 6, but not on the upgraded Newspaper 8.8.2. I have attempted to render this in a child theme of Newspaper 8 as well as the native Newspaper 8 theme and both fail. The plugin versions in use are

• WPBakery Page Builder 5.5.1
• td-api-plugin 1.0.2
• tagDiv Speed Booster 4.9.1
• tagDiv Social Counter 4.4
• tagDiv Composer 2.3
• tagDiv Books custom post types sample 1.0
• Slider Revolution 5.4.8

Polish – Witam, ostatnio kupiłem Newspaper, zainstalowałem i mam kłopot.

1) Zainstalowałem Default Demo (InfoPowiat.pl) i widzę, że moja wersja mobilna różni się od wersji z państwa demo – gdzie mogę to zmienić? Przy każdej zmianie wyglądu strony głównej TD Composer zmienia się tylko wersja deskopowa. W edytorze strony w “Mobile Editor” nie ma nic, po skopiowaniu kodu wersji deskopowej strona mobilnie się nie ładuje.
2) Gdzie mogę zmienić wygląd stron głównych/list poszczególnych kategorii? Poszczególne kategorie mają różne style, więc gdzieś na pewno można to zmienić (http://infopowiat.pl/kategoria/fashion/new-look-2015/; http://infopowiat.pl/kategoria/fashion/street-fashion/; http://infopowiat.pl/kategoria/fashion/style-hunter/; http://infopowiat.pl/kategoria/fashion/vogue/).

Hi guys, hope you’re all well.

We created a footer page using your most excellent cloud templates, and we’re perfectly happy with it. The problem is that it doesn’t seem to play happily with bbPress pages.

If we insert bbPress shortcodes into a page created with TD Composer, it works fine (see link, for our draft forum homepage):

However, when bbPress creates its own pages for individual topics and threads, the formatting goes a bit crazy and the footer page simply displays a lot of code:

Have tried deactivating everything but problem remains. Only happens with a cloud template footer page – if we use a normal widgeted footer, it works fine.

Any suggestions?

When I edit the homepage using the “Edit with TD composer” and click on the stay connected group. The Facebook id, my id is “miller.duane.d” and the facebook group is showing zero. There should be over 1000 friends but it is showing zero. Is this because there are “.” in the facebook id?

Hello,

I have installed the Newspaper theme and installed the default demo. My website is http://www.matsati.com When I edit the homepage using the “Edit with TD composer” the thumbnail images appear to show in the editor, but do not show when loading the homepage directly in chrome or firefox. How can I get the thumbnail images to show?

Also, when I click on a blog page it shows a blank (empty) page. I go into the dashboard of my wordpress site, click on posts, and edit one of the blog posts. After editing the post, I click update, and I get an “HTTP ERROR 500” error saying the page isn’t working. Do you know what might be the problem?

How can we add the separate portion of product via using the TD Composer?

I added my own custom icons through icomoon to the newsletter files (as you suggested in other forum posts) and updated the td-composer icon list (.php) and the font-newspaper.css with my custom icons as well. I can see and select them from the composer drop-down list, but when inserted they do not display. Can you please help? Is there anyhwere else that I need to add my custom icons? Hi guys,

We are playing around with tagDiv composer for our site redesign and it is amazing. We are still learning new things everyday as we explore new ideas. The ability to be able to control how the site appears on each screen size at a granular level is brilliant.

Also really pleased with the new cloud template function. It addresses my biggest bugbear with Newspaper – the ability to adjust the overall width of the columns – but it’s allowing us to create some genuinely unique page designs rather than seeing different sites that look exactly the same as ours.

Couple of requests for future updates. Some may already have been mentioned, some may be bugs, some may not currently be on your radar, but hopefully it helps:

– can’t choose a sidebar from the main post composition screen if using a cloud template. We would like to be able to run sidebars that are customised for different article categories, but that’s not currently possible. We could create several near-identical page templates, each with a different sidebar, to address this but it seems clunky when everything else is so sleek.

– paginated articles don’t work. It doesn’t seem to recognise page breaks. We may be missing something but we really can’t get it to work.

– TD composer doesn’t have accordion/tab functionality. We’re currently scratching our heads to work out how we will replicate or replace this, as we currently run a lengthy glossary that uses an accordion to hide and display all the descriptions, and we can’t do this with TD composer.

– following on from the above, it would be great to have the ability to load anything into a row that only displays a certain height and then has a ‘load more’ pagination function, like the blocks do for posts. For example, we are using the testimonial features in quite a different way, but there will be potentially loads of them on a page so it would be good to only show a few with the rest hidden behind a ‘load more’ button. – we have been trialling closing off comments after X days. Using cloud templates, this causes a “Comments are closed” message to pop up at the top of the page under the menu. See here:

This doesn’t happen with the traditional Newspaper templates, which display the message in the correct place after the last comment.

– We’re currently having trouble with smart sidebars using inner rows, but this is probably our own fault rather than a bug.

– Newspaper (and Newsmag) lack behind other themes when it comes to presenting reviews. Given how slick the rest of the features are, this is something we’d really like to see developed in future editions. We’re also currently looking at plugins for incorporating user ratings, but not sure whether they’ll play happily with TD composer.
