That depends on how you made the customization. Code entered in the theme panel custom code sections will not be lost after a theme update. Code entered in theme files or modifications made to them will be lost.
There are 2 ways that are considered safe for theme customization. Either through theme panel custom code, or by creating a child theme

There were some issue with the multi-purpose plugin in update 8.5, however these were fixed in version 8.5.1 of the theme. We have not had any other similar issues like this, since the mentioned update.
If you have the latest them version try deactivating and removing the tagDiv composer and multi-purpose plugins. Install them again from the latest package. If you already tried this, and you have no additional plugins that could create issues, please send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide admin login information. We will take a look.

That will not be a problem. After the latest theme update using the tagDiv composer on pages will allow this. Rows can be stretched to multiple widths, like this

@sestrik Visual composer will receive updates when the theme is updated. The latest version at that moment will be included in the theme package. When this happens, deactivate and remove your current Visual composer and install the new one

The code provided in the child theme functions and stylesheet has not changed over the previous updates. We have updated the child theme theme image, not the version however

Regardless, that version will not be a problem, you can keep using older versions of the child theme.
