Please try to update all of them, clear all your caches and test it again and check the results. You will must have the Newspaper 7.4 with Social Counter 4.1 and Visual Composer 4.12.1 if you want to bring the best results with our theme.

I have inspected your website source and I noticed that you are using the Newspaper 6.7.1 version with Visual Composer 4.11.2 and the latest version of WordPress, 4.6.1 version. Sorry, please notice that you will have to keep up with our latest updates if you want to bring good results using our theme. As you can see, the latest version of the theme is Newspaper 7.4, Social Counter 4.1 and Visual Composer 4.12.1. Please try to update all of them via FTP way because this is the surest method in this regard, clear all your caches and test it again and check the results.

No the patch can’t make the update from 6.7 to 7.4, you will need to update the theme according with our documentation: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/ If you made any changes in theme’s core files they must be added again after the update is completed but make sure that they don’t break theme’s functionality.

Try to login on the server via ftp, navigate to your-wp-install/wp-content/themes and delete Newspaper folder. After this step is completed you can try to upload Newspaer.zip file in your wordpress or directly upload Newspaper folder via ftp. Please notice that you can remove all the code which you do not use it but as you known, for each update the style.css will be in full version. So, another alternative for you would be to use the GZIP compression, according to this topic here -> https://gtmetrix.com/enable-gzip-compression.html

The theme is tested many times and there are no security risks in it. Also envato double check each update and so far we didn’t had similar reports.
Theme’s settings are stored in database and when you view the panel the theme read them from there. Most likely on the site was a lack of security used to access directly the database and inject that code there. You can take a look in access_log file, there you may find more useful informations in this regard.

Thanks for your suggestion. In a future update, it is possible to implement this one but we cannot say for sure if it will get done in the next update because we have a big list of fixes, improvements, and suggestions to implement. It’s hard to filter them and select which one gets implemented now and which one gets postponed. The developers decide if it gets done or not, though.

I just updated to version 7.4 and now the stylesheets do not load when using a secure connection. The previous version would load not matter if a user when to http or https. The site is hcnews.com.
It will load correctly using http but breaks when using https.
I did update both the visual composer and the social share plugins.
The update from version 6 to 7 did hose the settings and I had to start over with all the default settings.

Hello, I’d like you to help me with 4 questions:
1) In the header menu, the live search works well. But is there a way to implement it in another search boxes, for example, in the sidebar? The default WordPress search doesn’t seem to have this feature.
1.1) Due to the server and thousand of posts, the search takes a while to process the live results. Is there a way to insert a loading gif to show the user the content is beeing loaded? That would be just VERY helpful.
2) How do I enable smart snap only in the desktop version? I seems this feature doesn’t work well with mobile browsers, so it is going to be way better do disable it only in the mobile version (and let it sticky).
3) Some days ago, you answered me about changing the thumbnail sizes. But I couldn’t make it, can you please explain better where should I update/create the thumbnail code? I tried in functions.php but it didn’t work..
4) At last, could you give me directions to change the way “latest articles” are shown in the homage? The default template is Pagebuilder + latest articles + pagination, and I like that, but I would like to change the template, and display posts as a list.

Hi. I’m trying to update Newspaper 7.2 to 7.3. I did it as usually: desactivating all plugings, changing theme, deleting Newspaper from Appearance Menu and uploading the new version.
This time, it doesn’t work. It says that the folder cannot be found, and the theme is not deleted. If I try to upload the new version, it says that the folder already exist.
What can I do?

So I deleted the TagDiv Social Media Counter and re-installed with the updated version and now this happens:
Fatal error: Call to undefined method td_block_social_counter::get_block_css() in /home/connorha/public_html/mylifepossible.com/wp-content/plugins/td-social-counter/shortcode/td_block_social_counter.php on line 52
Any thoughts here? I’m not sure what I am doing wrong, I just want the tracker back and working. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Maybe your site was hacked. Maybe your hosting provider did a server update and your site overloaded php and they disabled stuff.

a) scanning your site with SECURI scanner (free)

b) ask your hosting provider why all your wordpress plugins got mysteriously deactivated over the weekend!
c) make sure you have dbase backup
d) change your admin password(s) RIGHT NOW!

If you have auto updates turned on (not good idea), your site can post updates to plugins, WordPress, etc. which might break things.
Things don’t “suddenly happen” unless something changes on the backend. Theme cannot change your site without you. 🙂
Looks like you updated theme without also updating the VC plugin? Dunno.
Try checking you have updated version of VC included with latest theme version; try resaving your home page layout. Try clearing cache plugin and/or reset CDN if applicable.
Turn off any “minification” plugins that can break things, etc.

I downloaded the new updates and want to update my website.
When I try to delete my current newspaper wordpress theme to allow me to update, I get the following message
(Deletion failed: The requested theme does not exist.)
Why is this and what would be the best way to update my website with the new updates.

Part 2, is “part 2” of my most recent modifications. Part one was Aug 17, 2016 🙂
“Part 2” only covers removing Google Fonts entirely from v3.1.
Have not gotten to part3 ; we have issue with trying to get latest version of mod_pagespeed running as it generates errors on any site with “missing images” — and from our recent server crash, that happens on several sites; so having to put in rewrite matches to a default image, which seems like a good practice anyway, so going to add that to my htaccess example which I will update soon. Pain.
For example Sport Updates category will display post from all subcategories, Podcasts, Red and Blue.
It’s not showing “Red and Blue” anywhere. Podcast is supposed to show it’s subcategories. Instead Podcast shows “Podcast” instead of “Red and Blue” (it’s child categories).
If you want a light style.css, yes. (take care when you make a new update)
