Have you updated theme from version 4, if so you have to run the update script after updating the theme, like instructed in the update guide here: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/
Updating the theme right shouldn’t cause you any issues so you can try to update the theme based on this guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/ backup your current install, run the import settings script, update plugins and check the result. You can always get back to the previous working theme version if something goes wrong as long as you backup it but doing the update as instructed the theme should work fine.
You should also consider into the process at the following aspects:
– backup your current theme/WordPress/database: https://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_Backups
– setup a maintenance mode and you can use a plugin for that.
– empty all caches/purge files if you also use CDN host then disable any services of this type until you switch to the new theme
– disable all plugins
– install the theme then install the required plugins
– switch back the rest of the plugins and start other services

I’m still using the old version of the newspaper theme. You said, that there will still be security updates for it in the .zip. How can I check this or better to say, in which folder will I find the relevant files? Until know, there were no updates, or?

I followed the instructions and updated the theme via Method C (WordPress zip upload) and lost my custom CSS that I entered at the Appearance tab. Sucks but I will rewrite it.
One question I have- it says in the Best Practices to reset the Cache.. How do I do that?

We used the plugin “Regenerate Thumbnails” after we upgraded to v6 to make images all correct again. Maybe try that plugin instead.
You will only lose customizations if you edited the files themselves. But your Custom CSS, Analytic code, category, post changes will all remain the same.
Just do a backup of the current folder to your desktop.
/public_html/YOURFOLDER/wp-content/themes/Newspaper
Then drop in the new 6.3.1 version. Tell it to overwrite all files.
I did this on my site without any issues.

I run http://www.policehour.co.uk we have not really made any modifications on there, however we are recruiting a web developer at the moment which we hope will make the big changes we want.

is there a way that with Newspaper that they could also develop a social media login button within the login section,
I use this for comments however it does not appear on the newspaper login popup to allow people to login using social media.
Maybe this is somthing you could add to the plugin neakriti, as im sure Newspaper are working on much more important updates.
Hello i have used Newspaper for over 12 months on my main website policehour.co.uk.
for the first 11 months my images have been perfectly seized on the website and within the article page, now they seem messy and dont completely fill the image box.
somtimes they dont stay to the space they have been requested to be sized at and often take up the the full of the webpage like in this link http://policehour.co.uk/2015/07/update-body-found-in-search-for-missing-7-year-old-conley-thompson/

Even the blocks on the home page the images do not fit the box.
the problem seems to have occurred when we upgraded to system 6, we have noticed the section for blocks under the theme panel however it is not making a difference,
We previously to get all the images working the first time used a plugin called regthumbnails which allowed all the images to display and upload to the same size, we have attempted to do that again, but it has not worked,
does anyone have any advice.
UPDATE: I literally got wp-rocket around 10 minutes ago, and I’ve just realised a massive change.

I’m using a plugin call “My Custom Functions” that keep every thing the way it should be after i upload a fresh install of my theme files,all i do is Deactivate it on update and Activate it after i’m finish..i don’t edit the theme files directly because then it’s too much work to put every thing back…
It’s been more then a year now since I first posted my question about the 7 day popular post sorting that doesn’t work with caching. You guys said it would be adressed in future updates, but after more than a year it still hasn’t been fixed. You guys make an awsome theme and I love you guys for updating is regularly, but the fact 7 day popular still doesn’t work with caching really bugs me. When will the tagDiv team adress this issue?

I have the envato toolkit auto update working for this theme on my Linux boxes. I have one Windows box where this is running and I am unable to get it to update. It seems like a permissions error, but I have checked and tried a few different setups with no luck. It is not the backup feature, that works fine. I unchecked it and still receive the same error.

Which folder does it need to create?!?! 🙂 Cannot find any info on the web about which directories this plugin needs to work.

I have just updated to the latest version and I have problem in wp-admin page. There is no problem on frontend, but I can’t open any page in wp-admin.

I tried deleting plugins folder but it didn’t work.

Normally I update the Newspaper theme myself.
unfortunately I’m stuck during the update of Newspaper that’s released on the 16th of July
After uploading the new files and activating the theme the website was messed up like this

1. I’ve added your suggestion on our list, if more people will request this we will implement it. We have a lot of features on the list and we have to chose carefully which one is implemented next.
2. You mean to add an option on blocks which allows to manually select a list of posts? something like this can be achieved with the current system, just add a certain tag on the desired posts and use the tag filter to display those posts – http://screencast.com/t/m5kdWbtzd8lv
We plan to add more futures to the block settings area in a future update, we may extend the filters and sort options.

I also have this problem,
It started about a week ago, everything was working fine and then it stopped generating the images for facebook posts for no apparent reason, maybe it was the recent Yoast update that triggered it, I’m not sure.
Now I have to save the post so it generates the featured image from the video, go back into the Yoast panel, upload the image to facebook re-save the post and then go to my site, refresh the page and try to share it again mostly it will share the image with the post but not always. Not a big problem but more work.
I have also noticed that when I try and upload the imaged for Twitter and Google+ in the Yoast panel nothing appears, I get the image URL in the facebook image upload box but they refuse to appear in the Twitter and Google+ image upload boxes
Maybe I’ll try and re install Yoast or something but it all seemed to go wonky with the latest wordpress/yoast updates
