Hi Tagdiv,

So what is the final solution here?

This is just a work around on how to identify where is the malware.

Did you already have a fix for the vulnerability? Even if we follow steps here – there’s always a tendency for the site to be hacked again unless you apply a fix to the plugin/theme.

Your response puts us in circles.
You reply the solution is in this link: https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/wp-zexit-malware-and-newspaper-theme-problem-please-see/

Then that link points to this link: https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/update-tag-div-composer-and-wp-bakery-page-builder-plugin/

It is stated here that there’s a vulnerability in your Theme/Plugin:
https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/backdoor-in-td-composer-allows-anyone-to-append-css-code-to-the-page-by-making-a/

So what is the final fix to prevent this? Do you expect us to just fix this everytime this happens – knowing that the theme has a vulnerability?

@simchris

No not this time… usually yes, it’s often about update, active plugins after updating theme,

but here it literally removed all templates… header, footer, event the home page is not recognising some tb_blocks…

they’ve been wiped out …

even after DB restore from yesterday, when everything was right…

I’m gonna try to get the files backup to restore the old plugins as well, plus yesterday’s db…

any help from support is welcome !

usually this happens when you don’t ‘re-enable’ the composer plugin after updating everything. I had this happen recently with newsmag.

Might not be your issue, but double check the composer plugin updated and activated under the plugins section in WordPress. 🙂

(( I don’t work here. ))

Hello,

I just updated to Tagdiv 12.6.1 (from 12.6) + plugins, and all custom template Header dans footer disappeared !

I tried to backup a older DB, but still doesn’t come back, and I don’t have old plugin (Tagdiv plugins) versions anymore…

EDIT : Solved, the Standard pack has been removed on theme update, I missed that one… nut wold be easier if the optional plugins were not removed…

Hello!

I did the update to 12.6.1 today. Now the website is displaying weird characters. It was completely fine with no issues until this update.

I’ve tried in firefox, edge, chrome, desktop, mobile, incognito windows. I’ve cleared the cache on all browsers, in wordpress, bluehost and the theme itself.

My cache plugin is WP Super Cache with your exact recommended settings. I flushed the cache there too and it did not help.

Any idea what happened or how to fix it?

Hi,
We just updated to the newspaper theme 12.6.1

And now we’re noticing a bug.

The CSS and page style are not loading properly in infinite scroll pages on both desktop and mobile pages. It is fine on the first page but as you scroll down, the style and CSS goes for a toss.

how to fix this?

website: http://www.motorbridge.com

thanks.

Up. Are there any updates for this issue in 2023?

Hi,

We tried to update our website http://www.urbanpitch.com to the latest version of Newspaper, but because our Child Theme with our website customization is working on an older version (6.0), we ran into some issues. Namely, the Child Theme is using Visual Composer which is not supported by the current version of Newspaper, which uses TagDiv Composer. Would you be able to provide guidance on how to best fix this issue? Thanks!

In my last (and first) post here, I complained about the Twitter symbol “X” being out of alignment in the round version of the “social share” button. You guys responded to me with a code to correct the positioning of the logo (it worked btw).
I thought this would be fixed in the next update (which was released today) and it wasn’t*

Other than that, I wanted to know if it is possible to change the color of the button (just the “X” button) to black, which is the color of the social network. It is no longer blue and tbh only this theme chose to keep the old color for no reason at all.

Thanks in advance

We recently faced a malware issue on our website due to the documented vulnerabilities with this theme/dependent plugins. In an attempt to resolve this, we updated our theme (8.7.3) to the latest version. We encountered the following issues:

1. Child Theme Error: Our child theme is throwing a critical error related to the td_api_header_style::_helper_show_header(); function. This appears to be depreciated or no longer supported in the latest version of the theme, and the error prevents the site from loading at all

2. Parent Theme Shortcode Issue: Even when reverting to the parent theme, we noticed that shortcodes are visible all over the website as seen here on this staging site running the latest version of the parent theme.

Could you please assist us in resolving these 2 issues as soon as possible? We’re at a standstill until this is fixed.

My intuition is that because we are jumping from version 8.7.3 to the latest version, we’re missing some conversion that happened with how the shortcodes are handled – perhaps the update needs to be done in steps?

We can provide full access to a staging site if needed

I have followed all the steps but nothing changes. I have 20 editors in a panic (we publish 1 article every hour). I requested a restore from yesterday to get everything back as it was before. Question: Don’t you test before releasing an update? It’s an absurd situation!

Hello,

Please update the plugins manually, delete the old plugins, and upload them via FTP -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/newspaper-how-to-update-a-plugin/ after activate them.

Thank you!

Hi Anamaria,
Thank you for coming back to me. I’m still having an issue. I’m able to import the xml file and it is importing templates such as Header Template, Footer Template, 404 Templates, etc (see screenshot attached https://imgur.com/a/oNUWKeq) but not the Homepage.

It is this customized homepage (with blocks/fonts/colours) that I need to import to the updated staging site. Am I missing a step or is there a workaround?

Thanks for your help.

Hello @keverix3 !

It is free, but you can use another app or whatever you want if you want to be helped.
Unfortunately, AMP is not working with the cloud templates because the AMP’s layout is not fully customized.
The AMP version works best with default templates and not cloud templates. That’s why we integrated it with the Mobile theme plugin.
The feedback from our clients about AMP was negative and it is not used anymore, that’s why we didn’t add more customization options. From my point of view, if you don’t use the Mobile Theme plugin, then there is no reason or benefit to AMP.
We have 3 options for mobile versions that you can use:

1. Responsive version: A responsive version of your website looks similar to the desktop version. TagDiv Composer is used to edit the page.Click on the mobile viewport: https://www.screencast.com/t/XDQJedlggSB. There, you can see your mobile version and edit or adjust the elements to look better.

2. Mobile pages: https://tagdiv.com/newspaper-10-3-7-update-brings-customizable-and-fast-mobile-pages

3. Mobile theme plugin: The Mobile Theme is a performance-optimized theme included in the main Newspaper theme that only loads on mobile devices. It comes with its own templates and designs for pages, posts, categories, etc., so your current templates from the desktop theme will get converted to the mobile theme layout. Please see https://forum.tagdiv.com/the-mobile-theme/ and https://forum.tagdiv.com/mobile-theme-introduction/ for more information.

A full explanation is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SpGkOnJeNZY
If you need to use mobile version 1 or 2, then you need to uninstall the Mobile Theme plugin and AMP.

I do not know exactly about which issue you are talking about. But I hope all these links(they are working, just copy-paste them manually in another tab) are helping you solve your issues.

Everything should work well in the latest update of the theme and plugins.

Thank you!

I’m still here about the same problem (never solved) from several months ago. since version 12.5 every update produces the same result, which is that the menu, when enabled to scroll, does not nest items in “more”. The problem seems to momentarily resolve itself if you do a window resize, and then recurs if the page is reloaded, quite randomly. Having already pointed out the problem quite some time ago, and having received only cheesy responses like “select drop items in more” I would like to get the assistance I assume I deserve on a frustrating problem like this.
Since reading in the forum I am not the only one, and since I cannot possibly deactivate ALL plugins being the site in question quite complex, I would kindly ask you for a comprehensive answer and analysis of the problem.
Here the right menu – https://ibb.co/9s41fwf
here the menu on scroll – https://ibb.co/2ZKrq6B

Now i’ve roll back again for the third time….

Hi all – I’m starting a new thread specifically about PublishPress since I haven’t heard back –

For some reason the plug-in doesn’t work with any author names other than users. For clarification:

I’ve added guest writers into the “authors” section in the dashboard. All works fine here. They appear in the dropdown within editor. However, when I select a guest, the published page defaults to an admin/user profile. The published page won’t show the selected guest.

Further, the multiple authors function doesn’t work either. Even when choosing two users, only 1 is displayed (which, as mentioned, must be a user to work).

I’m using the Newspaper theme. Is someone able to help out to get this working? All of our writers are freelancers, so setting up individual accounts isn’t possible.

Monologui isn’t a solution for us for various reasons. PublishPress is the best option while Monologui works on new updates.

Thank you!

Hello,

Please provide more details about what issues you have when you update the theme.
My recommendation is that before updating the theme to make a full backup for the database and current website, disbale the extra plugins during the update process, after that update the theme manually – https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/ (after the theme update, make sure that the needed plugins are installed, like tagDiv Composer, maybe tagDiv Standard Pack and tagDiv Cloud Library).
In the worst cases, the settings in the theme panel may be lost (there have been isolated cases), in these cases, after the theme plugins that were previously used are activated, you will have to use a backup for the theme panel -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/import-export-theme-settings/

Thank you!
