Since a while ago, maybe since the last time I updated the theme.
If I go directly into my website http://www.thewotme.com, the first part of the theme is not properly shown: New ticker & Big Grid Flex 5 are showing only text with withour format.
When I clic on “Edit with TagDiv composer”, the template or theme is correctly shown but not out of the “composer”. THe rest of the page and sections (Flex Block) are correctly working.
I have tried to change values (to refresh it) in the New Ticker & Big Grid Flex but it does not work, I have changed the Big Grid Flex 5 for another one (3) but … same.
I have also tried with another laptos, navigators, devices .. same
Version I have is 10.4
What can I do ?

I’ve juste updated my theme to 10.4 version, but now my homepage is displaying the source code, as if the tagdiv composer was desactivated, but the others pages are working fine.

Disqus and theme breaks the workflow causing more issues when some plugins is enabled, however, it is not a root cause.
I let the Disqus plugin developer know about the conflict. I would like to use this plugin in the future with cloud templates.
Hopefully a this can be added in the next update of the theme.
I tracked it down by disabling plugins 1 by 1. The cause is compatitability with WooCommerce.
Disabling WooCommerce fixes it, but downgrading to previous versions doesn’t. Tested with:
WC 4.9.2 – not working
WC 5.0.0 – not working
WC 5.1.0 – not working
WC 5.2.0 – not working
WC 5.2.1 – not working
WC 5.2.2 – not working
WC 5.3.0 RC1 – not working
On Newspaper side tested with:
10.4 – not working
10.3.9.1 – not working
10.3.9.0 – not working
10.3.8 – not working
10.3.7 – not working
If Newspaper rollback updater also rolls back TD composer plugin, which is probably the real problem, than that would mean it’s not a recent update thing, but a major compatitability issue (I only recently installed WC, so I wouldn’t know).
Can you take it from here Bettina?

How I said above if you modify the theme files after update the changes will be overwritten and you have to make the changes again. Better save the code somewhere and then apply it again after update.

The page speed is not related only to the theme that you are using, this is affected by plugins/content/ads/ external resources, etc.

I checked your website, and I saw you have the version of theme v10.3.7 and the last version of WordPress v5.7.1, the compatibility with WP v5.7.1 was provided only with Newspaper v10.4

HI i was using this theme from years, last week i realized that whoever developed it, he never bought the theme, so i bought it and updated it.

In one section of Newspaper, it’s actually the main top section where 5 posts appear, there is a faded smoke/black screen that appears on the front of each image. I need to remove this feature, as it makes images look blurry. On the rest of the sections/ Elements on the home page they are clear, so the same images used look fine. How do I remove the smoke screen in the top main section, home page ?

Also, I’ve noticed that the ad behavior changed since the WordPress/theme update. It used to be one of the first elements to load on the page. Now it’s loading after the content, causing a significant layout shift. Is there something we can do to make it load before the content?
Update: The 1/3 + 2/3 Layout is the only multi column layout that works with Block 14.
All others I’ve tried just show a full width stack.

After a theme update (I think 3.9) the admin panel would switch to RTL in “All pages, All posts.” When I switch lang to “Farsi”, an RTL lang, in “all pages, all posts” the posts and pages look like what you see in the screenshots. When I scroll down, the side menu goes to the left but still looks as you see.
When switched to Eng or “All languages” everything is OK!

I contacted all plugins involved and after weeks of investigations, they all refer me to you as the problem seems to be from the theme. There is no problem when a WP default theme is installed.

After updating the Newspaper theme (incl plug-ins), the TagDiv Editor broke.
No elements can be edited or placed.
Uncaught typeError are shown:

I recommend you also to build a child theme and add them there, because any changes you make in the theme files after update will be overwritten and you have to make the changes again.

I have a simple question for you: where is the safest place to add php functions into the theme?
There are some php functions that I need to grab from there: https://wpgridbuilder.com/add-ons/map-facet/ the developer told me to modify functions.php from the child theme but I wanted to ask you first if there is a better way with Newspaper.
I would like this script to not be deleted every time I update the theme.
