My Visual Composer is not working anymore when you try to pick and drop items. Last time i noticed it was because of the update. How soon are we going to get it?
Who would of thought drag and drop actually has a learning curve?!
Hello to all. I am looking to resolve an issue I seem to have with ad placement.
I have tried the following, but I do not want to add a title to the second and following ads:
If I use the ‘Text with title’ box to place an ad (adding the code manually) it aligns along the left side. If I use the ‘Ad box’ it aligns center.
I want to have my first ad have the title ‘Advertisement’ on it, but the rest to just be ads which can be done using the ‘Ad box’, but how can I get the ‘Ad box’ to align left to look uniform in the sidebar?

I believe, as noted in the docs, that some of the shortcodes used by visual composer changed, and you need to either update the codes – or redo the layout for those affected sections.
If that is not the issue, then apologies for the comment. I had something similar happen and it was due to the shortcodes changes, so I just redid the affected modules on home page then it worked. 🙂
Not sure the “demo” pack is updated to the latest version of the codes. Maybe try this with your own content?

I am trying to update some plugins but i cannot do it for visual composer. I am on 4.3.4 and it tells me that the 4.4.2 is available for donwload but i miss a valid key.
I have entered my Envato user name but i cannot fond a key for visual composer.

I have checked your site and found that not only megamenu doesn’t work, also pagination and search( based on ajax). You also have error in console.
Please try this without any plugins active, leave only Visual Composer active and also make sure you empty cache/purge files then check again.
Please also note that I have also checked this using the latest theme version (4.6.1) and found no issue so it should work in your case also, make sure that you also use the latest theme version and if not update your theme(use ftp method): https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme/

The (2) problem wasn’t visually fixed once I enabled gd library because the analogies of the visual composer column was 1/2 and it “needed” a bit more…
So changing it to 2/3 + 1/3 it worked.

I never said anyone was wrong for complaining.
We didn’t need to modify anything on the server to use the theme.
Normal server optimization of WordPress is theme agnostic. TIME magazine had to optimize their severs for WordPress, regardless of the theme they are using.

VC’s so called “limitation” only surfaced with the most recent version. After almost 2 years of use by TagDiv with tens of thousands of happy users, I would venture it wasn’t a bad choice for a visual platform. The visual editing is the main reason many folks bought the theme — without a plugin like visual composer along with all its prebuilt and custom modules there is no other simple way to do this kind of layout.
That being said, we here are playing with a “lean framework” again, and testing stuff like this: https://wordpress.org/plugins/siteorigin-panels/
For some of our sites, we are looking into “lean layout” again vs “complex layout” where high demand news site doesn’t need a fancy “magazine” layout where the look/feel is a factor in audience hanging about and returning. For example, one of our oooold sites, running Canvas: CaliforniaNewswire.com — not as pretty as FloridaNewswire.com, but very lean by comparison, and not really optimized at all.
As to arrogance… it’s up to you to research and learn the tools of the trade. Hopefully you’re learning from all of this 🙂
In any case, I will shut up now. I am not “defending” the theme (or VC) against your issues, I am simply saying that not everyone has the issues you may have had. For some it’s a one click install process and a site can be completely switched over in a few hours. That’s pretty powerful for a $50 investment.
Things change with all WP materials. WooCommerce updates, breaks stuff. Waaaah! Not the theme’s fault. Revolution Slider has security vulnerability. Waaaaaaah! Not the theme’s fault. WP 4.1 breaks plugins. Waaaaah! Not the theme’s fault. People expect a hell of a lot for $50 these days.

Well, it does say it uses Visual Composer. And it’s only been a couple of weeks since the latest version of VC kind of went off the rails. We’ve been using it with the Newspaper theme for 14 months without any issues at all, aside from one other bad version we skipped.
Hundreds of themes use Visual Composer, so it’s not unique to TagDiv.
And not everybody is crashing their server using it. Only some, which is where the problem comes up.
Obviously smart folks should research any framework or plugin a theme requires in advance if it’s mission critical; test usage then rollback if not functional as needed. We’re still running LAST version of VC (except on one test install) due to this issue.
Hopefully next iteration of VC will be more “CPU/RAM friendly!”
Theme works great for us.
We waited on using the new Visual Composer, as I always “wait and see” with any new major upgrade to “related” products.
We deployed one site in a weekend (floridanewswire.com) … which was switchover from a 2009 WordPress theme which was basically falling apart as no compatible with WP 4.1.
As with all things where you have interconnected elements, web server, php optimizations, WordPress optimizations, theme, and plugins all interact, and it’s a process to “fine tune” that for your use case.
Obviously very high traffic sites should not be using Visual Composer, sad to say. A pre built “easy to use” theme such as this and the many others using VC are designed for quick deploy as we did with FloridaNewswire.com or Ga-Ga.com — it’s not “lean code.”
For high traffic sites, ALL good developers know you need to look for cost saving on queries for php management and/or use good caching to serve static pages with minimal live data calls, so that the new content is taking brunt of traffic and legacy content is not as rich in data push/pull.
This is why it’s a tradeoff — you can’t have “one click easy” and “lean code” … just like you can’t have 100 things on a page and have it be fast. You either need to have 50 items, or faster system (e.g., we have 1GB switch for our server vs normal 100/base; super high demand systems get dual 1GB, or 4GB connections, or 40x the average 100/base port on typical server or VPS which is shared among 4 containers).
Ironically, I am pondering going back to “lean code” vs “overload code” as the current VC is easy to use, but wow, they need to figure out a way to “design” then deploy a snapshot. Just like you don’t give somebody Photoshop file with 50 layers, you give out a “flattened” version for actual use. VC needs to implement a “snapshot” deploy version of its code to allow development side then live use where the code isn’t such a burden on the system. Not a fault of the theme, obviously.
As always, your mileage may vary. Just some thoughts for the day.

How many costumers do you think know how to alter a code? General costumers of WordPress never ever even logged in FTP or they’re sites.
I really think you should provide a disclaimer before we buy it: “This theme requires that you know how to do this and that.”
This is not a theme for beginners. Themes must be “ready to go”. Saying that a “plugin x” is causing the problem is not ok because Visual Object is necessary, not a option.
I’ll try a little bit more bur if i can’t make it work i’ll inform this issues to Themeforest and see if i can get a refund

What version of Visual Composer do you use? There are some memory issues with the latest version, try to install version 4.3.5, then optimize the site – https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-make-the-site-faster/ (especially the gzip compression, images, cache and browser leverage).
Reduce the number of ajax using elements on page (mega menus, ajax pagination/load more/infinite load). Also reduce the number of blocks on your main page.

If you modified the theme code remove all modifications.
Disable css / js minification, if you use a cdn disable it.

2. Please set to display after 1 paragraph and see if it works. Also provide your site URL, so I can inspect this, if you still have issues.
3. If you have images smaller you need to use a plugin like Thumbnail Upscale: https://wordpress.org/plugins/thumbnail-upscale/ as WordPress cannot enlarge thumbnails, only make them smaller. For upscale use a combination of plugins Thumbnail Upscale + Force Regenerate.

Sorry to be captain obvious here, but if he is able to use everything properly on another domain on the same machine – as he says – then VC isn’t the problem. Nor is the memory limit.
@Orlando I’d suggest making sure you have the latest version of WordPress, and then I’d FTP a fresh copy of WordPress over your existing copy to remove any issues within the files. Whatever the problem is, it’s not Newsmag or Visual Composer causing the issue. Shouldn’t be server config either.

This one is RESOLVED.
A custom VC function inside functions.php was causing a fatal error because Visual Composer was deactivated.
I have a multisite installation with newspaper theme.
I use one newspaper child theme for each one of the two sites I have.
Following the steps on https://forum.tagdiv.com/update-the-visual-composer-plugin-wpbakery/, from network admin I tried to deactivate Visual Composer.
When I hit “deactivate” whole site went white.
I now cannot enter the network admin and I cannot see the front-end too.
I deleted the plugin files from the server with ftp, but I cannot still view the site. Is there a solution to this?

I thought I’d put this in ONE place (it’s buried in the pagespeed sticky topic on the newspaper forum, but a lot to shovel through there).
This is some of the custom code I put at bottom of my functions.php file EVERY time the theme is updated, and for ALL our websites, regardless of theme (with some new code for Visual Composer in this iteration).
Basically this code helps with various things – some of which are needlessly often done in plugins and don’t need to be – including things for PageSpeed rating, and general optimizations such as default image compression level for thumbnails, etc.
Use if you wish; but please *do not* go post this in a blog article as if it’s your idea or I’ll come and punch you 🙂

Yeah.
I would turn off everything except mod_pagespeed since it does the minify of HTML on the fly, removes comments, etc.
Use the tagdiv speed booster plugin which moves and enqueues scripts at bottom of page.
Use the functions.php file to add the remove query string code.
Use W3 cache if you don’t have mod_pagspeed connected to APC/opcache/memcache on the server (which can be configured in the master mod_pagespeed config file). But use the settings recommended by TagDiv.

Saving in text mode is the only working way, but as soon as you jump back to the visual editor it deletes all the set breaks.
I am using like 4-5 breaks in each of my articles, so it’s more than just annoying but i got used to it.
