In addition at @Chris’s suggestions you could also try do deactivate all plugins except Visual Composer, clear all caches and test again. Some plugins may consumes lots of resources so you can enable them one by one and check if this issue appears again. Also try using a plugin like WP Super Cache for cache and check the values from system status: http://screencast.com/t/M7ehnoxZ
max_execution_time should be at 300 and max_input_vars should be above 2000.

The drop-caps weren’t designed to to work on pages, the css classes are different that’s why the css doesn’t applies. Please provide a link where this issue appears so I can investigate it closer and maybe I can provide a solution.

We don’t recommend using the minify option for js and css also because we had numerous theme issues reported and the vast majority of them proved to occur because of minified js/css or when using CDN host services which can deliver old file content if not used right.
Try do deactivate the js minifications, clear all caches and test again.

The differences between V1.7.1 and the current one are major. Lots of files are changed, lot of code was modified and your customizations from child theme may not work properly with the latest version of the theme.
The point of a child theme is to keep the customization even if the main theme it’s updated. But this is not always valid, because once in a while the child theme it’s also updated, or if the main theme pass through a major update it’s possible that some customizations not work well anymore.
Since V2.0 the include system for css has been changed in child theme: http://screencast.com/t/UKZpoPCiw and using the old child theme instead of the updated one could cause issues with theme’s style. That was the reason why I have mentioned the child theme update.

The pagination links are generated by WordPress so to add a new css class for a elements you need to edit the pagination function from WordPress. This is a complex task and I can’t provide a solution now. To improve your site performance you can try to reduce the number of queries (fewer blocks on page, reduce the elements which use ajax requests/pagination like mega menus/load more/infinite load). Try to deactivate all plugins except Visual Composer, clear the caches then check if this errors still appear in error log.
The last two errors occur when you try to access the theme’s index.php file directly and this is caused by the theme’s inability to locate the WordPress get_header function as it dose not passed trough WordPress when the request is made and in that case the function doesn’t “exist”.

If you want to update at the latest version please make sure you do a clean update, meaning that we recommend that you delete the old version of the theme before uploading the new one – https://forum.tagdiv.com/newsmag-how-to-update-the-theme/ update also the plugins that come with the theme files. The update process for each of the plugins included in theme path it’s the same: delete the old version of the plugin then install the new version from same path with the theme. For example if you update at the V 2.3.1, which is the current version available on themeforest, the plugins must be installed from Newsmag-tf\plugins folder which you downloaded from themeforest.
If you’re using child theme deactivate it during the update process, switch to default wp theme and make sure that you also update it from Newsmag-tf\code\Newsmag-child.zip
If you use child theme for files customizations it’s a good practice to check update_log.txt file for each update and see what files had been modified so if those specific files are used in the child theme you will have to check your customizations to not break the functionality of the theme.

We have no idea of the plugin functionality so we cannot make a suggestion on how to use it best with our theme. If you want to move that code into an external file you will need some customizations and if you’re not aware of the steps you need to take in this regard please consider hiring a developer or a freelancer to do this for you.

The cache plugin generates static pages which are stored in the memory and when a user makes a request the pages are delivered from the cache. By this the php execution and the database requests are skipped. But a cache plugin don’t move the css/js resources in footer, you will have to do this manually using the Speed Booster plugin.
