This is not the first time this happens, I have suggested in the past to change the warning screen to something like “error databaseconnection” or something like that so it looks like a system faillure but never ever use the “you are a thief” warning for all to see.
Tagdiv calls this a “inconvenience” and eventhough it has been fixed this is just unacceptable. I suggested that they would replace this “your a thief” page by something more subtle, like “there has been an error, pls contact admin” page with the mention of a email address, in that way you at least get informed quickly without the colateral damage.
I hope this is not what your website visitors are seeing as well? I understand that tagdiv needs to do something about illegal copies but this is a pretty aggressive measure as it is basically telling all your visitors that you are a “thief” even if you are a registered user and paid for the theme. If this could happen to registered users, why not have a basic error page instead with the message to contact the website owner with a email address?
I have exactly the same issue with the header of my website, I never had any issue with theme updates but this is the first time the update is causing “design” problems, also had an about page with photos and they don’t show anymore, had to revert back to 10.4 to make it work again.
Not my experience, I have had the most issues in the beginning but now it’s smooth sailing. Same for customerservice, it can take a few days before you get a response but that is to be expected with the huge number of “problems” that are reported which often is a result of not knowing how to configure the theme. Most of my issues where plugin conflicts so it’s a lot of trial and error before you find the right plugins that don’t mess up your site, they each time have been very helpful and friendly here when I asked for support.

I”m using “Joli Table Of Contents” which works fine in combination with the Newspaper theme.
I was surprised by the number of complaints 10.4 has caused, I however did not experience any issue at all, even the css analyzer for pages which is in beta stage did what it’s supposed to do and gave higher scores in gt metrix and pagespeed insights, the speedbump however was only minor but all bits help 🙂
I always manually update which have not given me any problems in the past, same for version 10.4 which seems to cause so many problems while I didn’t have any issue at all.
Do you have a cloudflare account with the rocket loader plugin activated? That plugin is known to cause the behavior you are experiencing. If that is the case you need to disable that plugin.
I use edge as browser and the dropdown menus work.
Your welcome 🙂 This issue has been reported more then once and often it’s a rocket loader plugin, tagdiv support is aware about this as they found that out when I had issues editing content months ago but it seems this is not on the list to be solved.
I had this issue and in my case it was the rocket loader plugin in my cloudflare account that was blocking it, as soon as I disabled it I could edit again.
I have had a similar issue, in my case the Rocket Loader plugin on my cloudflare account was causing it, as soon as I disabled it everything worked fine again.
@Topfgartenwelt
I follow this thread as there is always something to learn about optimizing the theme for speed, just to let you know, when I open your website on my mobile phone (android) neither the menu or search option function.
It’s a complicated theme and I have had my share of issues with it but currently (*knocks on wood*) it’s running great, occasionally I get some small hiccups (sometimes with new updates) but often they are plugin related so it takes a lot of time to test before you find out. Those times however when I needed assistance the support here was great, it took some time for them to act but that’s understandable if you see how many issues are reported in this forum. You can’t expect instant support when you only pay 59dollar for a theme.
When I went back to 10.3.8 my menu problem disappeared but now I see it’s back, when opening a single post from the front page or a category the menu completely disappears, I can still click the menu so it’s still there, only not visible. It seems that the latest wordpress update is causing the problem then because everything was fine with before with 10.3.8 and the previous wordpress version, in any case it looks like a conflict between the theme and the latest wordpress version.
I just revert back to 10.3.8 and everything works fine now, this is definitely a issue with 10.3.9
Similar issue here, the menu doesn’t show anymore on the category pages, I didn’t change or add any plugins the past weeks and the problem started after the last update.
The theme does support other plugins that are not on the “official” list, you just need to know how to set them up and take the time to test every change you make. I follow this channel on youtube, he provides great content for wordpress users: https://www.youtube.com/c/SERTMedia/videos
It loads fine on my pc in chrome
Good to see you solved the problem, just in case you didn’t know; the rocket loader plugin I refered to was not a wordpress plugin but located in the cloudflare website.
You disabled cloudflare? Disabling the rocket loader plugin should have been sufficient to solve your problem.
