Hi,
I don’t quite understand what you would like to do. Some more details would be helpful, maybe we can help. We don’t have a guide for creating an application from the website, if you use a plugin for that, then the plugin will have all the settings, the theme doesn’t have or add such options.
Thanks
Hi,
Why would you like to do that exactly? AMP is served by Google, through the search results page – https://prnt.sc/r3igi8 and lately some socials are serving AMP as well for mobiles.
The cached AMP versions of your content can only be accessed through the Google SERP.
If you check AMP only, that means that the mobile theme will be used only for visitors coming from Google, the others will see the responsive version of the website. An option to serve AMP for all users does not exist, I don’t believe that is even possible.
Thanks
Hi,
That is not possible at the moment. Only one inline ad spot is provided in the mobile theme. So there will be a top ad, inline ad, and bottom ad. Maybe more will be added in the future, sorry for the inconvenience.
Thanks
Hi,
You can check what Yoast will load in the source of the page, for example
– https://prnt.sc/r3i4hp
That should be picked by Google, from what I can see it does see the Yoast schema, for example the datepublished that is loaded by Yoast – https://prnt.sc/r3ic7m
It should work according to the Yoast documentation
– https://developer.yoast.com/features/schema/yoast-seo/
– https://developer.yoast.com/features/schema/pieces/article/
Thanks
Hi,
The option to set a cloud post template will work if the posts themselves are set to inherit from panel, that is how they are by default initially. I believe that is how the new option works for the time being. Maybe this will change in the future, can’t say for sure what will happen in coming updates.
We will have to make more tests regarding the WPML issue, it may take some time. Sorry again for the inconvenience.
Thank you!
Hi,
1. The setting on the right is provided by Yoast and will not be used by the theme. This is mentioned in the guide – https://forum.tagdiv.com/primary-category/
The theme provided setting is the one mentioned there.
Translating the post is like creating a different post, when the language is changed the post is changed. This means that all the post settings have to be set for each post, including the primary category, source and via, post template etc.
2. If you follow the instructions from that topic you can translate the footer page correctly – https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/problems-on-sidebar-and-footer-translation-with-wpml/
Please try as mentioned there and it should work fine. Let me know.
Thank you!
Hi,
1. The primary category has to be set manually for each post, regardless of its language. Setting a primary category for a post in a English for example, won’t have any effect on the translated posts, one has to be set by you.
2. This is a somewhat related topic – https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/translate-cloud-templates-header/
I see you are using a cloud header template, you can create multiple header templates and set one for each language. You can use the header manager to set the desired header depending on the language. For example edit the translated homepage with the composer and set a header that you craeted for that language – https://prnt.sc/qtvz5v Same for the cloud template for posts, categories etc.
For the footer page, in that topic there will be information about how it can be done. Should work fine.
3/4 Change them how exactly? Those fields are added by the theme, changing the actual fields will require you to make modifications in the theme files. If that is what you want, the fields are defined here – https://prnt.sc/qtw1da
You can set this information for each post, no need to translate those fields, if maybe that is what you want to do.
Let me know.
Thanks
Hi,
@printing3d If you would consider waiting a little more time, in coming updates (not sure if the next one or the one after that) there will be a setting for this in the theme panel, for each category.
With it you will be able to assign a specific post template (cloud template) per category, so all the posts from a category will use the set template.
Thank you!
Hi,
Page elements (meaning the content) don’t have to actually be translated. You can translate the page as a whole – https://wpml.org/documentation/theme-compatibility/create-multilingual-wordpress-websites-using-the-newspaper-theme-and-wpml/
You can translate pages for all the languages you use, build them with the composer or in the way you want. Then when the language is changed the page will be switched. If you need help or you have more questions let us know.
Thank you!
Hi,
That should work fine. First, after checking the logo field in the string translations screen https://prnt.sc/qiw1tj press apply and there should be a saved message displayed, like this – https://prnt.sc/qiw0uh
The string should then be displayed in the admin texts domain https://prnt.sc/qiw2i4
Also, please make sure that an image is set as logo in the theme panel before adding the string in WPML – https://prnt.sc/qiw2yu I don’t think it will work if the field is empty, as there will be nothing to translate.
Let me know how it goes.
Thanks
Hi,
You can translate pages and posts as mentioned in this guide
– https://wpml.org/documentation/theme-compatibility/create-multilingual-wordpress-websites-using-the-newspaper-theme-and-wpml/
So for example you can craete the post in the main language, set the subtitle text as you want it – https://prnt.sc/q5g68j
Then translate the post in the other languages and add the desired subtitle
– https://prnt.sc/q5g6yq – https://prnt.sc/q5g77h
Each translated post can have it’s own subtitle, source/via, post template etc. It is like creating a new post/page. They will be switched when the language is switched.
If you have more questions let us know.
Thank you!
Hi,
Replied via email.
Thank you!
Hi,
I checked for a while, but I can’t seem to find from where the date is coming. It’s not loaded by the theme or Yoast. This is how Google sees it in the structured data tool, based on what the Yoast plugin outputs
– https://prnt.sc/q0gs5u
And how it appears in the sitemap – https://prnt.sc/q0gvzo
In the source of the page there is no mention of that date. So where could it come from? Quite unusual. You could also create a topic here
– https://support.google.com/websearch/community?hl=en
Maybe the more experienced users from the Google search forum can take a look as well.
Thanks
Hi,
You can translate existing pages only through the method presented above. If you want the same page content (layout) so you won’t have to build the entire translated page from scratch, you can copy the content from the initial language and work with that
– https://prnt.sc/q0gdoc
Please try and use this method, it works fine. This is how it has always been, pages can be translated as mentioned in the guide. If you need help or you have facing problems, let me know.
Thank you!
Hi,
You can translate the pages in a different way, as mentioned in the guide
– https://prnt.sc/pzzho4
For example create a page in English – https://prnt.sc/pzzbxb build it with the composer as you want.
Then translate that page like this – https://prnt.sc/pzzcr7 – https://prnt.sc/pzzd8h build it with the composer as you want.
So when the language is changed, for example with a language switcher, the pages will be changed. This would be the recommended method for pages. If you have more questions let me know.
Thank you!
Hi,
If you mean the theme elements language, there are translation options in the theme panel
– https://prnt.sc/pzfcze
There you can load a translation and customize it if needed. If you have more questions let us know.
Thanks
Hi,
The cloud library plugin is available only for Newspaper, that has been the case since it’s introduction
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/tagdiv-cloud-library-plugin/
The plugin is not provided with the Newsmag theme. If you have more questions let me know.
Thanks
Hi,
Sorry for the misunderstanding. I see that you have created a page with the WordPress editor. The theme provides styling options for the font properties in this case, please check in the theme panel here – https://prnt.sc/pxd69i Also there are color settings if needed – https://prnt.sc/pxd5rv
Those settings can be used when building pages with either the classic editor, or Gutenberg.
If you have more questions please let us know.
Thank you!
Hi,
The website uses the Newspaper theme, that is correct. However most of the elements in that page are custom made, they aren’t available by default in the theme. From what I can tell it’s not using Woocommerce.
You can create a shop with the Woocommerce plugin, display products and sell them. The theme is compatible with the plugin, but doesn’t have many features created specially for it, like for example dedicated woocommerce templates or design. Those will have to be custom made.
Thanks
Hi,
The theme login is actually the WordPress default login – https://prnt.sc/pqoiws with design added to it, but with the same functionality basically. The theme doesn’t control or manage the emails sent by WordPress or plugins, it also has no settings for them.
You could check the Buddypress documentation – https://codex.buddypress.org/emails/
Or maybe search for some plugins that have what you require
– https://www.wpexplorer.com/buddypress-wordpress-plugins/
I don’t know what this would require, didn’t do much testing with Buddypress mailing unfortunately.
Thanks
Hi,
You can select a sidebar for each post in the post edit screen – https://prnt.sc/pqoeud
If no sidebar is set there, the theme will look to the primary category of the post
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/primary-category/
This means the post will use the sidebar set for the primary category of the post automatically – https://prnt.sc/pqofmu
A sidebar can be set for each category in the per category settings
– https://prnt.sc/pqohev
If the post has no primary category set by you, the first one alphabetically (from the categories the post has) will be set as primary automatically – https://prnt.sc/pqogh0
We recommend to use this primary category setting if possible, as it will be easier to control the sidebar for entire categories of posts at once.
Please let us know if you have more questions.
Thanks
Hi,
That would be unusual. I checked the post you mention, for me the video does not disappear
– https://prnt.sc/pqo5q2
I waited for about 5 minutes to see, seems to display fine. If it’s still happening for you, try with a different browser maybe. Let me know if I misunderstand something, I will check again.
Thanks
Hi,
That setting in the composer for the siblings doesn’t seem to have a tooltip, I will add it on the list and one will be added.
It is meant to be used in combination with this setting – https://prnt.sc/pqo1q4 It will limit the number of categories displayed before a drop-down appears with the rest of them.
The setting from the theme panel to hide specific category tags won’t affect the cloud templates.
So it seems that at the moment there would be no way of showing or removing specific categories from the siblings element. Maybe something for this will be added in the future. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Thanks
Hi,
I see a space between the logo and the menu – https://prnt.sc/pqnwkv From what I can tell the logo used has a height of 240px, while the background is 190px
– https://prnt.sc/pqnxef
That is creating the space. The background image height is not enough, should be bigger or similar to the logo image height.
You could use a logo with a height of 190px or use a backgroudn imaeg with a bigger height.
Or you could use some CSS to reduce the logo height – https://prnt.sc/pqnzxy
Here is the code if you would like to give it a try
.td-header-style-10 .td-header-sp-logo img {
max-height: 190px;
}
Thanks
Hi,
That website doesn’t use the Newspaper theme, but something similar could be done with the composer.
At the top from what I can see there is simple text and an image. The composer has text and image elements you can use.
Then there are those figures. Try using the image info box element from the composer
– https://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper_crypto/image-info-box/
You can use an image in it, add a description, also it has a button.
The title over image is similar, but doesn’t have a button, the whole element can have a custom link set however
– https://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper_crypto/title-over-image/
Thanks
