I’ve tried to update my Newspaper through the WordPress dashboard and I get this error message:
Update Failed: The theme is at the latest version.
I’m not sure what I am doing wrong here, but I can’t seem to get anything updated on my end so my counter will begin working on mylifepossible.com. Can you help?
Hello,
I am unable to understand how to remove the blocks “Don’t miss’, ‘Most popular’, ‘Latest videos’, ‘Fashion’ etc. Are they ‘blocks’ or ‘widgets’?
Do I need to buy a license of visual composer in order to edit the home page, or can I do it without purchasing a license?
Please recommend what I must do.
Thank you.
I have a problem I can’t solve by myself. The homepage of my site (http://www.calcionews24.com/) has a block “Slide” and when the page is loading the slider height changes giving the impression of moving content on the page. Look at this screenshot taken during load page, and this taken when page loaded.
As you can see the category tag under the slide seems to move during loading, cause the height of the slide is initially higher.
I tried playing with css but I didn’t found a solution. Can you help me?
Thanks
P.S.: I also tried it on a local install without plugins and it gives the same problem.
Hi,
Well it does slow down the site that’s for sure but this depends on how may elements you use. Everything you add extra every plugin every block every animation every image slows down the site a tiny bit. All together if there are many complex elements will result in slow loading sites. Not using visual composer will result in a faster website but you will be better off optimizing your site rather than not using the theme blocks and grids. You will get better speeds just by optimizing your site rather than just removing VC. Try to optimize your webste using this guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-make-the-site-faster/
Test your site with google page speed and gtmetrix beforehand, and then test after the optimization. After you increased your speed try to simply disable visual composer and then test again to see how much the speed increases and if it;s worth it.
Thank you!
Modules and blocks only work with visual composer. No visual composer means no modules and blocks. On pages you will not be able to use theme. You can use modules on category templates but that;s about it. If you want to build a custom homepage with block elements, you will need visual composer. If you select a blog style homepage, you can change the module used by the theme to display the articles but you cannot customize anything beyond that.It will be just likie a category page. You can choose the article display and the sidebar, but no custom positioning or layouts without visual composer. Here is where you will find the setting: http://screencast.com/t/pF8kD3Ci
Thank you!
Hello,
We have no such reports until now. Our blocks pull information from the post itself including the publish date.
Please disable all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files if you use it. Then test the dates again. Let us know if you still have issues with dates and if you do,please provide a link to your site so we can inspect it.
Thank you!
Can you tell , can i also add the blocks and module there,, plz guide me in this regard
When I add blocks article dates are wrong. It seems dates came from page publish date. How can I change it to post publish date ?
Hello gubedel,
Please pay attention because I suppose that you do not understand our mobile theme concept. For your first request, if you want to have the same Homepage Block to your mobile mode, you will not have Mobile Theme installed and the layout in mobile mode for this type of block should look like this -> http://screencast.com/t/yW1OIaZ0uT So if you want to bring those there Big Gird in Mobile mode, you should enable the Mobile Theme plugin and you should have minimum 3 posts in Featured category, like this -> http://screencast.com/t/pvS8FE2Vh If the mobile theme is active, the mobile editor can be found at the very bottom of the editor file in Visual Composer, like this -> http://screencast.com/t/dYXHEhLqmU
Also, you should reading again our documentation in this regard, because there was very good explained this concept.
Thanks for your understanding!
Hello,
In order to remove the text you must enable this option: http://screencast.com/t/Vcwq5YbaR9xh
The comment count on blocks and modules can be removed from here: http://screencast.com/t/axeeI1Oen1
For posts you can remove it from here: http://screencast.com/t/C2axMhQ8pURx
Thank you!
I’m having a bit of a problem getting the video player header look right. Here’s the page: http://ollekebolleke.info/
All block-titles have a little bear on the left and a line at the bottom. i’d like that too for .wpb_heading, and I can’t get it to work right. The background color remains behind the little bears. (You can’t see that, because that is what I’m working on, on localhost.)
I’m trying two ways: first I try to add this to the css. That works, but the background-image is on top of the background color. I want the background color to begin next to the image, not behind. Just as the block-titles are now.
The other way is using the theme panel. If I add padding, it works fine, but it will also move the video to the right. That’s not what I want.
How do I do that?
Hello,
The category names beside the title are added the ajax filter, not the block filter. Please read this guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/block-settings-guide/ and check for the ajax filter tab.
Thank you!
Hello,
If your homepage is a blog list set like so in the wp settings: http://screencast.com/t/MqTmYurq then you can control the number of posts to display from the same screen. If you have a custom page set created in visual composer, then you need to use the block settings and set the number of posts you want displayed in each block: https://forum.tagdiv.com/block-settings-guide/
Thank you!
Hello,
I’m not sure I follow. Your image sizes in your block 4 is the same as on our demo: http://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/block-4/ It is not smaller.
If you want it to be smaller then you need to alter the theme code for that. you can use the theme api system like so: https://forum.tagdiv.com/td_api_thumbupdate/
Thanks
Hello,
The problem you mention is a simple filtering issue. Yopu need to set particular posts or categories to particular blocks. If you publish a new pot it will show up in the block you have set to show latest posts from the category you post your article in. If your grid is set to show all the latest posts, then that is where the post will show up first. You need to read this guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/block-settings-guide/ andf make use of the theme sorting options to get the result that you want. You can use offsets or different filtering methods to show the new posts in the block that you want.
Thank you!
Hi
None of theme’s blocks display two columns on mobile. A solution would be to change the current layout for one of therm’s blocks or create a custom block with this layout on mobile.
Thanks!
Hi,
Block 13 has 2 fonts set to it as any other block. There is a post title and an excerpt. The title is ‘ROBOTO’ and the excerpt is ‘OPEN SANS’
Thank you!
Hi,
Im using the page builder blocks to create the homepage of my site.
Even if i give a category name in the filter parameters, im still having all the categories names beside the block title.
So, i’ll be grateful to have one of the following solutions :
-
To get rid of the categories names
-
Or eventualy if the category name im giving in the filter parameters has subcategories, so the subcategories names are shown beside the block title
Thank you

Not an SEO issue. Blocks on a home page or index page which contain your story indexes need to be there for page to render. Google reads text on your page, not the DOM elements that build layouts. Even if you move your “mega menu” to external file, it still needs to load on the page when viewed by a robot or other element.
You’re better off doing “fetch as Google” and using Google PageSpeed Insights, mobile friendly check, GTMetrix.com test on your post, as barometers.
SEO is most affected by your title tags, h1 tags, actual text relevant to the title tag and permalink, the amount of original unique info on the page on topic, and external links to your site from other sources that cite your page as relevant to that, even if it’s just social sharing.
The HTML used to build the DOM, does not “hurt” your SEO, unless you have two paragraphs on a page and then a mega menu, and 50 blocks of other stuff unrelated to that one page.
Just food for thought having done SEO since March 1995.
Since I use Newspaper, all my webpages have a very bad text/HTML ratio (thanks Semrush)
When I look at the HTML code of the pages, I find a lot of lines of code from Newspaper : it begins with *<![CDATA[*/var tdBlocksArray=[];function tdBlock() and ends more than 200 lines later !!!!
Is it possible to move this code in another file ? It is a big SEO issue, my post’s text appears at line 400…
Best Regards
Hi @nivbot,
In theme you can control default comments:
– from block settings,
– from post settings.
Thanks for a reply, Andrei L.
I”ve chabged main page block with align image – title- description
Looks better, but image size smaller for this block :-((

Hi Andrei,
In Block 16 (CFB News) I switched it to all categories (from college football) and then put the filter by tag slug as CFB News. I then went an added that tag CFB News on those articles that I want to show up in that spot.
However, my latest article is not showing up (http://fan-insider.com/lsu-fires-les-miles-names-ed-orgeron-as-interim-head-coach/) in Block 16. The only difference with this story compared to those that are in Block 16 is that they are listed under the college football category in posts. My article that I want to be there is just listed under news and sports in the posts section. However, when I add the college football category, the article then shows up in the Big Grid section and not in Block 16 like I want it to.
That is the problem I have been having.
Hopefully that makes sense. I look forward to your reply.
